Because of my job, I live life on the road and sometimes it's not possible to go see my regular stylists. I came here with 5 weeks of growth and desperately needed my roots done and a haircut and I'm so glad I came to Salon Detroit. Patti was a pro!! Got me back to my neutral blonde on top (which isn't the easiest since I have black hair) and faded up my sides perfectly. If you need anything done I would absolutely recommend this place!

One braider finally got started around 10:00. I wanted the color 1 hair she said they only had 1B. Although I never get 1B I agreed. After 1 hour and a half another braider started in the back she was moving fast so I actually should have known she was putting super large parts in the back. Then I could not understand why my braids was so tight! I've worn Knotless braids for over five years now they have never hurt. They are weightless and not supposed to hurt. Come to find out they did not do knotless braids at all they put box braids in my head. Knotless braids starts with your natural hair they started braiding with weave. I asked for waist length the braids are uneven and pass my butt. The front of my head although it's sore looks okay but the back is horrible. I asked for small knotless so why would I want huge box braids or large horrible parts In the back of my head. $230.00 and hours I wasted at this place. I will never return or recommend anyone go here

Guys, this is the place. I'm from California, and it has been SO hard finding a good hair salon…read morethat knows how to work with Asian hair out here. I've been to 6salon, Alchemy Color Lab, everywhere. Now, I've got thick, straight, black Asian hair. I've been blonde to the root for about three years now. After the 100th disappointing and overcharged hair appointment left my root brassy and chunky, I decided it was time for a change. Peter at New U2 is a godsend. He told me he worked in New York for 15 years before moving to Michigan. I have no idea why he would make that move, but I sure am glad that he did! He and Jake spent 5.5 hours sectioning, foiling, toning, washing, cutting, and drying my hair. It usually wouldn't take that long, but I had grown out my black roots for like. Four months (yeah, I know). After drying, they went through the trouble of touching up and toning some spots that I didn't even notice, so they did the wash/dry cycle one extra time just to be thorough. I also had a brassy band coming in from my last appointment, so they had to figure out bleaching and toning and blending the root from black to brassy to blonde. Not an easy task! All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. This appointment also cost less than my last one, where they did a worse job. They speak Mandarin and Cantonese and English, of course. I can't recommend them enough!

It just felt very comfortable and welcoming inside the shop as we waited for my son's turn. Rufus helped me use Cash App to pay him which was super convenient so I wouldn't have to hit up an ATM. First of all, the communication to get info is very frustrating. AGNES is NOT timely on responses…read more When I arrived at 5p the shop was empty for a Friday. So the three ladies were VERY NICE and I'm enjoying my experience UNTIL...a lady came in hollering at me upset saying that what I told her I wanted and what I was getting were too different things. So, I'm shocked and started asking who she was. She said the owner AGNES. I believe there is DEF a language barrier. However, like I told AGNES, I was there to spend money not take from here. I'm going to post the hairstyle I wanted, and what I got. I wanted my crochet styled like the pic I sent. No one told me to get a certain hair, so I got what I've been wearing for FIVE YEARS --GOGO CURL. I normally wear 2 1/2 - 3 packs MAX! One lady was putting a WHOLE CURL in my head. If you know crochet, then one curl can be PULLED APART. AGNES says that's too hard. I advised that I would pull the hair apart. Because the lady used ONE ENTIRE pack on the front quarter of my head, they did NOT have enough hair to finish my head so you will see the pics of what they did! (FIRST 4 PICS and my hair after they finished). Then AGNES Googles my hair telling me I got the wrong hair. Yall I go to Hollywood Beauty on Greenfield and they only have ONE KIND OF GO GO CURL HAIR AND ITS 26 inches BY FREETRESS. Anywho I ended up buying another pack and filling in the gaps. You will see what I DID (LAST 3 PICS AND MY FINISHED PIC), and I have the texts where I sent all of this to AGNES. WILL I GO BACK? I believe I am going to give it ONE MORE CHANCE b/c AGNES apologized and I REALLY want to support this business. I spent $130 and gave the ladies $10 EACH. I also found it odd that they DO NOT have mirrors so you can see the back of your head. I will update if I go back.
