The Smugglers Den Inn is a 16th century thatched inn with family, beer garden, childrens play area and ample parking. The beer garden is where we like to crash and relax. While the kids play on the apparatus we chill with a ool drink in the sun and order from the menu full of lovely food and they always have plenty of specials on the board all made using the freshest local ingredients. It is situated in a little village called Trebellan, near Cubert, less than than 15 minutes from Newquay. You approach down a steep, high sided road which is typically Cornish and the pub is right before you and very welcoming. They have regular live entertainment and also have an annual Real Ale and Pie Festival which is is it's 9th year. It's definitely worth pulling off the beaten track and seeking it out for a refreshing treat.

There's not much going on in the village of Rock, Cornwall. There's not even much of the rock quarry visible that gave the place its name. So IF you're heading to Rock, why not stop at this rather nice restaurant which offers brilliant views of the bay. The menu is split into three time schedules, breakfast, lunch (12 to 6 p.m.) and dinner (after 6). The range is a bit higher key than the usual pub grub, and the chicken breast (topped with bacon and cheese) I opted for was rather nice indeed. The beer range is limited, especially on the hand-pumps - similar to the Rock Road Bar & Grill which inhabits the same building - and they may indeed be one item. Korev and some international lagers are available though. The view is indeed splendid and the staff were really nice when I visited. The outside seating can be covered, but it was not on this rather warm and sunny June day. Since there are very few alternatives here, I'd give The Rock Inn thumbs up. There is truly no real reason to go to Rock in the first place, but this one might be it.

Don't be put off, we rocked up in shorts and tea shirts and no one blinked an eye. Prices vary from £4 upwards for a glass of wine with a few snacks, nuts, olives etc if your starving. The off license has a good selection of wines, spirits and a personal favourite sherry. Knowledgable and friendly staff a great place to hang out, couldn't believe it wasn't on Yelp before I added.

The food is pretty good and there is a good variety to choose from. Couple of different burgers, ribs, chicken fajitas (which we particularly liked), fish and chips plus more, as well as daily specials. A number of different beers, from a variety of ales or other imports. Like any pub the service varies from day to day, but overall we found the people friendly and eager to make sure we were happy. Price was pretty reasonable, we usually paid about 100 pounds with five mains and a couple of rounds of drinks (mainly pints of beer) and considering the location on the beach, we paid more elsewhere had less choice. It's full of families and is generally very noisy, which is exactly what I expect of a good pub atmosphere. So if you are looking for a relaxing, family friendly place to eat, and are looking for a traditional pub experience, this is a nice place to stop.
