The Smugglers Den Inn is a 16th century thatched inn with family, beer garden, childrens play area and ample parking. The beer garden is where we like to crash and relax. While the kids play on the apparatus we chill with a ool drink in the sun and order from the menu full of lovely food and they always have plenty of specials on the board all made using the freshest local ingredients. It is situated in a little village called Trebellan, near Cubert, less than than 15 minutes from Newquay. You approach down a steep, high sided road which is typically Cornish and the pub is right before you and very welcoming. They have regular live entertainment and also have an annual Real Ale and Pie Festival which is is it's 9th year. It's definitely worth pulling off the beaten track and seeking it out for a refreshing treat.

Our meals were fine, a little overpriced, the burger (£11) was homemade but came with bog standard frozen chips which was a shame as the steak on the menu (£17.95!) came with hand cut chips. I had oven baked cod (£10.50) with a pesto and sundried tomato crust which was good, and was accompanied by new potatoes which were over buttered, but I felt it was a more reasonable price. Desserts are on the blackboard, I recall an Eton Mess, Profiteroles, and we had a lemon and lime mousse (£5.00) which was served in a glass tumbler as did the kids' ice creams (£2.50) The kids menu has a cheesey beans Jacket potato (£5.50), sausage with chips and beans (£5.50) as well as a bolognese, chicken nuggets and scampi as well as others. The kids enjoyed their meals. The pub has a pool table, a beer garden, and a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. It has recently had a refurb and the toilets were in good condition. There's not much going on in the village of Rock, Cornwall. There's not even much of the rock quarry visible that gave the place its name. So IF you're heading to Rock, why not stop at this rather nice restaurant which offers brilliant views of the bay. The menu is split into three time schedules, breakfast, lunch (12 to 6 p.m.) and dinner (after 6). The range is a bit higher key than the usual pub grub, and the chicken breast (topped with bacon and cheese) I opted for was rather nice indeed. The beer range is limited, especially on the hand-pumps - similar to the Rock Road Bar & Grill which inhabits the same building - and they may indeed be one item. Korev and some international lagers are available though. The view is indeed splendid and the staff were really nice when I visited. The outside seating can be covered, but it was not on this rather warm and sunny June day. Since there are very few alternatives here, I'd give The Rock Inn thumbs up. There is truly no real reason to go to Rock in the first place, but this one might be it.
