I wanted a studio that was more relaxed that taught them to dance rather than drilled a routine. This studio does that! Miss Parker and team are sweet and patient with the kids. Refusing to try. Petrified, really. It was frustrating and embarrassing enough to be "that family" but to make things worse, both teachers completely ignored us rather than coming up and talking to us, taking her hand, trying to engage her (even briefly), or just saying to me like, "It's OK. This has happened before." SOMETHING. We were the elephants in the room. Sad, sad elephants. My daughter and I talked about it the entire week following and I thought she was ready to give it another try the next Tuesday but just before class she had another tearful meltdown saying that she didn't want to go. I didn't have it in me that particular day to put either one of us through what we'd experienced week one, so we went home. I emailed the studio (twice) and sent a facebook message to see if we could get a refund or credit since she's clearly not ready and they weren't doing anything to make her feel any more at ease. I have gotten zero replies. I would expect at least an "I'm sorry it was difficult, here are some things we can try next week..." type of response if they have a strict no refund policy but we didn't get even that. So, we're out well over $100 (with the class, clothes, and shoes) and we won't go back there in 6 months when she is maybe ready because it's quite frankly, really bad business to not help a child/parent get through this if you won't do a refund, and really bad customer service to not even reply to emails/facebook messages. Three of them now. I'm in the business of customer service. This is not how you make longtime loyal clients. You treat them right and they will come back and they will tell all of their friends. Disheartening. I hope the $60 I lost is used to do a customer service training session/best business practice webinar. It's needed... :(

Plus, the prices were really reasonable - around $100 for 6 weeks of classes, at least for the acrobatics option we selected. The staff and instructors are also friendly and engaging. The waiting room is cozy, it isn't real large and there isn't a ton of seating so finding a chair can be a challenge, especially when the studio is getting ready to turn over classes, that is my only complaint.

Once the classes began, we were snowed out the first two weeks, which obviously wasn't anyone's fault. We went to our first class and my wife decided that it just wasn't for her, so I tried to cancel. I was told that I could only cancel by speaking to the owner. Ummm, okay. I tried to call the business owner, but she never got back to me. Eventually, someone at the front desk told me that she could cancel our membership, but that we'd still have to pay for the next month, because we missed the drop date. Keep in mind, we've taken ONE CLASS at this point. I explained that I thought that it was quite unreasonable to charge us $320 for ONE CLASS(!), so she told me I'd have to talk to the owner. You're never gonna believe this, but the owner hasn't responded to this day and so I paid $320 for my wife and I to take a single, quite lame dance lesson. Kudos to you Omaha School of Music and Dance. You sure conned me. This is how failing businesses conduct themselves and I can't wait to watch you go under.
