I made time in my busy day to get a haircut and was turned away... terrible customer service. The atmosphere in there is beyond awful, it looks like a 2004 call center. Been there (Apple Valley, MN) many times (once a month) over the last 8 years but it has gone DOWNHILL recently. I've showed up 3 times within the last year WITH an appointment and was told that the stylist called in sick (3x). They said they sent me a message but in fact DID NOT send me anything stating my appointment was cancelled. Not even a sorry. I set up an appointment because they don't take walk in's any more. I scheduled my day accordingly knowing I have an event planned and needed my hair cut for this occasion. Apperently costomers come last because they canceled my appointment a couple hours before and gave me the excuse that the stylist called in sick so I would have to reschedule some other day. They left me scrambling to find someone else on short notice to get a hair cut. I have been a long time customer, but no more. read more

I highly recommend The Barbershop to any man or boy wanting a consistently great haircut. 4.5 to 5 star overall experience and i will definitely make this establishment my new local barbershop ~ I love the opportunity to set an appointment with your favorite barber and then, you aren't waiting around for 30 minutes to an hour just to get in the barber chair! It is next door to Chipotle and behind White Castle(across from Target in Apple Valley). The receptionist is super friendly and has excellent customer service skills. Less than 1 star. Went here 3 times after moving deciding St Paul was too far to drive for me and my two sons' grooming needs. Had satisfactory experiences the first time & thought we'd found a new haircut home. Nope. We arrived 5 min late for our simultaneously scheduled appts... and we're turned away due to their 'policy' about lateness. I get having to set a time limit for a schedule to work. I run a small - individual appointment based business and I have to do the same thing. I also know, however, that every appt doesn't take the allotted time, so there is sometimes some leeway to consider when and if that limit can be adjusted. We have very simple needs... my 6 & 8 year olds certainly don't need the cheap electric massager, don't need a wash... all of which is 'included' in a cut and thus accounted for in appt times. There was no 'we don't have time for the peripherals but we could do the cuts'... no anything. Just unbending, customer repellent policy. We will not be back and I'd recommend steering clear unless you have perfected the technique of getting children out the door and to an appointment you've scheduled with military precision. 0/10 would not recommend read more

OOOOH...Sports Clips might be getting the run for my money now that I have found this place. This place is nice and the price is nice as well. I think you have to pay $23-24 at Sports Clips for their whole haircut package (cut, wash, head and shoulder massage), it is only $14.50 here for the same thing, plus extras. Not bad at all. The inside is nice, each stall is separated by walls and has your own personal TV with complete access to the remote. Attendants are friendly and skilled. My haircut was done well and they store the information for next time around in their system so you never have to guess what you had last time. If you go here, make sure to call ahead and reserve a spot. This seems to be the best system instead of just walking in like at other establishments. read more

Don't be two minutes late, or they'll inform you of your tardiness with tone in their voice as they tell you that they won't cut your hair. They will however reschedule you for a much later inconvenient time. Same thing happened to the mother and child standing behind me with the same time as me. All this drama with empty chairs in the waiting area. Came back 2 hours later to their proposed time. The girl failed to write me in. She admitted it was her fault, apologized, then asked me to come back a half hour later. Wow! read more

I needed to get my Afro trimmed down so I walked in and the place looks just as it does in the picture. Was greeted right away and all of the barbers were women. One trimmed my Afro and edged me up just as I asked and then I got a very nice warm towel on my face as she washed my hair. Once it was all done I felt like a new man. My son, ex-husband, and myself all get our haircut here. The price is right and the staff is all really friendly. I got my hair all chopped off in June and my subsequent hair cuts have been here, I'd much rather go to hairstylists who deal with short hair most of the time than hope someone at a salon for quadruple the price knows what they're doing. read more

They were nice. Apparently there was supposed to be a shoulder massage? My husband and I went at the same time and the stylist asked him if he even wanted it... he said he questioned himself and said no because he did not want to pay extra. Then I realized she never even asked me. If you are saying you are giving it... then give it. Don't be sports clips and pretend to massage you (and charge you. My stylist had a friend walk in while my hair was being cut so I think she rushed at the end still... if you did not say it was included, I wouldn't expect it but you say it is so you should do it. I don't know... I liked them but I don't like that your stylist don't do what your company says it does. read more

This place was really bad I walk in the guy was still doing another person then he tells us to go outside not to mention it's raining and there was also like 30 seats inside but he said no go outside then he is finally done with the other guy so I walk in it took him 1 hour to do a basic fade and cit on the top then he shows me my hair and it sucked he did nothing I wanted him to do then I tell him to do the parts I wanted shorter but every time I say something about that he comes up with some dumass excuse like "but the your hair will have spikes if I cut it" and I'm over here like that is what hell is for! read more

Second time here with basically the same result. Poor cut by "stylist" who I think had no experience (very tentative and unsure of what she was doing). Basically gave a quick chop cut. Advertise a list of additional perks, yet fail to provide them all. No shampoo, no hot towel, no trim. Yet the price seems to go up $1 every few months. I suggest going elsewhere. read more

I tried these guys out because I was looking for a true "barbershop" to give me a flat top. What I found was nothing short of a disaster. Jessica should have her license yanked or at the least forced to go back into training and retested. Went in looking for a flat top walked out with something that resembles an uneven crew cut. If you can't do a certain style well, just say so Jessica and allow a professional to cut the hair. I could have done this level of work on myself and not had to pay anyone for this disaster. Probably could have done it blindfolded and had it come out better. WILL NOT LET HER NEAR MY HEAD AGAIN. Only reason she gets a star at all is because she did a nice job of washing my hair at the end. read more

I sent my 15 y/o son with his grandma tonight to get his hair cut. We have had Becky in the past and usually request not to have her cut his hair after the first time she messed it up, but he's taking his drivers test tomorrow and he wanted a cut for his picture. We got stuck with Becky. Ugh, it's so bad!!!! The right side trimmed nice and tight, the left side she forgot about, so some of it is tight and some is still an inch long. The back, don't get me started, it looks like she was driving on a bumpy road while trying to cut his hair!!! Not anything remotely close to a straight line, and cut on his cowlick so his hair is permanently standing straight up!!!. Not sure how you could look at the finished product and tell yourself, "hmm this looks good, I am so good at this". Sorry Becky you maybe a nice person but you definitely need to find another line of work!!! It's the worst haircut I have seen on a male who wasn't trying to look like a clown!! My 15 y/o is too embarrassed to go back and fix it, he thinks I am going to make a spectacle. He's probably right, so I warn you, avoid Becky if your particular about your hair! read more

Have gone to this establishment a couple of times but now they lost my business. Their hours state they are open 10AM to 4PM on Sunday but I go there at 3PM only to find their shop all locked and closed up. A waste of my time if they can't follow their own hours schedule. Don't care how slow it may be. They accept walkins and should be open for the hours they list. Took my business elsewhere. read more
