I've been a regular here ever since I found it in 2001, just after it opened and I've been recommending it to family and friends for years. The Barber's Room is small but spacious, with only 4 stations, and it's not unusual to find 3 or 4 people ahead of you in the queue when it's busy. I don't want to even imagine how crowded it can get on a Saturday. As a result, I usually drop in first thing on a weekday morning to try and beat the crowds. The owner Keith is a bit of a perfectionist, and will often spend a full hour cutting my hair and tweaking it until it is just right. And anytime Keith cuts my hair, it always is just perfect at the end. As more staff appeared over the years, they've taken a page out of Keith's book and will often spend a good hour obsessing over your haircut. Each member of staff is chatty and always interesting to natter away with, so the time tends to fly without you even noticing. The decor is quite trendy, with a leather couch and a vintage arcade machine now serving as a coffee table. There are painted prints on the walls including one of Glamour Bowie in the 70s and assorted music and gig details about. The music is always impeccable and when the radio station proves disappointing, Keith will often put on something from his CD collection to correct the atmosphere. At €17 - €20 for a dry cut, it's perhaps a tad pricier than a traditional barbers, especially those near Trinity College, which are trying to appeal to the budget conscious students. But I've never been disappointed with the service, the haircuts, or the chats, so I keep on going back again and again. read more

It's pretty cool having the option of getting your hair done and your skin inked all under one roof. Why don't they offer the same concept to us ladies? My good friend Billy is a dedicated fan of this place, so on his invite I joined him when he went to add another tattoo to his collection. Really cool inside, with lovely staff. His tat was a piece of art and then he decided to treat himself after the pain with a pampered shave with hot towels. It was painful for me to watch him have so much fun as I sat reading a car magazine. read more

This is a such a great Barber shop. I have been here twice and the second experience was just as good as the first. I had two different hair dressers and each time they took their time and made you feel like you were getting an experience. I have been also lucky in that I have never had to wait longer than 5 minutes. You can tell the owner takes a lot of pride in his business and this comes through in his employees. €20.00 for a haircut but well worth it. If you want a really good haircut, value for money and attention to detail then this is the place I would recommend. read more

Ok, first review on Yelp, and I guess I'm gonna start by being contrary. I tried this place on the recommendations of all the reviewers here and was left a bit disappointed. I wouldn't normally care too much about my hair but decided to try it at least once. The haircut was perfectly fine, but I didn't notice any of the fantastic service or attention to detail mentioned in the other reviews. I was in and out of the chair in less than twenty minutes and got very little by way of conversation in that time. Again, I was happy enough with the finished result but was just left a bit perplexed as to what exactly I got in exchange for paying twice as much as my usual barber. read more

I shave my head. Have for years. It's just how I prefer it. Having moved to Dublin I was in need of a new barber and I'm ecstatic that I found Sam's. Friendly, professional and a very clean shop. They asked the right questions to make sure I was getting the cut I wanted and took their time even though some barbers view head shaves as simple and straightforward. I went in today (May 4th) as a walk-in. Very nice, friendly, quick, and detailed service. The place is kept very clean, and the decor and music was comfortable and enjoyable for me. I normally get haircuts in NYC, but I was in Dublin for business. These folks know what they're doing. €29 for hair cut and beard trim. Not bad! This barber is a good quality/price ratio. You'll will enjoy the atmosphere, the music, the location and the staff (they are really nice). Not very expensive which is also a good point. I've not been delighted of my haircut but I am not a good english speaker so I accept that the barber didn't really understand my wish. In a nutshell, this barbershop is a good place and I'm sure you will enjoy your experience here. But it's maybe not as amazing as what is said on every review on this page. I've been coming here for about 5 years now and am delighted to be able to finally review it and award an unequivocal 5 stars. I just received another flawless haircut as I always do! Everyone working there pays great attention to detail (very important for a haircut) and are friendly and welcoming. The place itself looks trendy without trying too hard and has a selection of magazines and books on offer to choose your preferred hairstyle if you've got no idea what to go for (I very often don't so they come in handy). One thing to remember is that it can get busy so be sure to give yourself some time. Before I discovered The Barbers Room I would have to go to a different barbers every time because I just wasn't happy. But I've never looked back since my first haircut here and I regularly recommend it to friends and family, keep up the good work guys! read more

Great haircut. Barbers take time to understand your requirement, and then execute it perfectly. Also one very nice thing I like about this place was that my barber(Rajiv) was confident when it came to cutting. I tried to make him cut more but he resisted coz that would have resulted in my face looking round. I agree with him now. Also they are very friendly. read more

this place is an absolute gem, iv been comming here for as long as i can remember and have never been disappointed!! (not that i am that terribly difficult to impress!!) the place itself is really cool, it kind of resembles a real trendy cosmopolitan bachelor pad, with its leather seats, duke box, vintage video arcade game, and hugh pictures of David Bowie on the walls.. the staff are real friendly and full of chat.. BUT!!! dont come in here expecting a quick 'slash and dash', expect to spend atleast and hour minimum and thats if there is no queue... Although if you have got time on your hands and your into your music, its well worth waiting around for the owner Kieth, you will find youself talking for hours... Dont worry if its busy the scantly-clad staff will be more than capable of keeping you entertained... By the way, the tunes in here are impecable (yes, i know its a barbershop!!) I did get a decent hair-cut in here. But I am going to have to give another view of the place. I usually go in and say 4 on the back and sides and tidy up the top- happy days. And hopefully it looks grand at the end. But it is pricey in here and it took them over an hour to cut my hair. I kept looking at my watch but she didnt get the hint. I do like to have an oul chat in the barbers or not but I dont see any guy really wanting to talk that long in a barbers chair geting a dry cut. Horrifically slow. Waited for over an hour and it wasn't even that busy. The Barbers didn't seem to care that people were waiting so long. They seemed more concern with making sure the Indie music was pumping. Finally when it was my turn it took another 45 minutes and the biggest shock was it wasn't even a good hair cut. I`ll never return. 1 star because it exists and 1 star because my hair was shorter when I left. read more

Hands down the best and most genuine barber in Dublin, they don't want to turn over customers ASAP and they don't want to force unnecessary products on you. They just want to take their time and give you the best haircut possible. It's been the only barber that I'll get my hair cut for about 9 years now, says it all really! read more

Do not go to this barber if you have a life and don't want to spend two hours waiting. I went twice and ended up walking out without a haircut both times. Each time there were two barbers and two customers ahead of me. I waited well over an hour listening to $hite-talk and watching in amazement as both barbers clipped hair as if they were sculpting Michaelangelo's David's ar$e. I'm no wham-bam-thank-you-mam merchant but I like to receive some kind of prompt service, or at least a polite courtesy of being told i'll have to wait a long time. I don't know how these guys make a living. Their tattoos must be awesome. Anyway, the experience made me so mad that I went and signed up for a Yelp account just to type this. read more

Ok, so I went to the Barber's Room and I can confirm that it was huge mistake. I was doing slicked back undercut for a months and I've decided to switch to a modern pompadour. Basically, I've entered the owner just said "hi" and continued his work, I sat down and was waiting like 10 minutes for the someone to ask me even what I am doing there. Got a haircut by some obviously Eastern European girl with really bad English accent. Showed the picture of the haircut from my cellphone and at the end it wasn't even close. I wasn't cutting my hair on the top for a few months and it was perfect for this hairstyle, basically what she was required to do is to cut the sides and do some minor adjustments on the top. What she actually did was cutting the sides and the hair on the top by at least 30%. So she wasted like my complete previous month of waiting for hair to grow. Besides that, it took her like one hour for something that could be done in 20 minutes. Also, people are talking about great service, that employees are talkative and kind, and I got nothing of that. They even didn't asked me do I want coffee or tea or anything; and girl said like 3 sentences in complete hour. In total, very very very bad experience, that besides everything cost me 18 Euro. I went here on the strength of online reviews. The haircut was okay - but the somewhat friendly stylist cut above my neck hairline, and when the hair began growing again, it grew out like a mullet. Not what you expect for 18eur! read more
