That said, it is a bright and pleasant spot from which you can watch the world go by as you enjoy the delicious food. There is a wide range of cakes and there is usually a coffee and cake special offer available which is great value for money. The staff are very pleasant and a lot of regulars go and are greeted by name which is lovely. Most enjoyable for a sit down and natter.

Unlike most of the traditional cafe's lining this street I find this place fairly 'clinical' I've been on several occasions and never been greatly impressed with the service or the food. I think if it has been much cheaper and more in line with the other cafe's close by I would be far less critical and more accepting of things. Overall I find this a fairly narrow offering that's certainly overpriced. I suggest going elsewhere so enjoy a traditional cafe atmosphere

The decor is a bit dated but clean and well maintained, the service is good, staff are friendly. The establishment DOESN'T accept credit or debit cards, it's cash only. The music is s bit 'ballroom' but it ties in with the history of the cafe (1932). The toilets are fresh, clean and well maintained and there is a separate disabled toilet. Overall, an excellent Sunday afternoon lunch !!!

This is one of the more well presented cafe's and its worth a visit just to experience it They do server food until quite late into the afternoon at the weekends so if you've had a busy day and missed lunch head here for a great meal
