It is pretty much the only food available in town, although I saw signs for a chinese restaurant on one road. The menu is lengthy and includes seafood, burgers, meat, sides, even some curries for the adventurous bistro diner. Food comes out looking nice but tastes pretty bland and a bit like it's been waiting around frozen for someone to take it out upon ordering. They are obviously trying though, as presentation is stylish if not up to MasterChef standards. Totally adequate facilities otherwise, full bar and pleasant service, clean bathrooms, a small room of pokies and an event space downstairs, as typical of RSLs.

Service was quick and we were seated immediately and orders taken in no time and food was delivered shortly after. We ordered the Rare Beef Noodle Soup (we ended up with Beef Noodle Soup With Fatty Beef), Rice Vermicelli With Spring Rolls & BBQ Pork (we ended up with Special Combination Rice Vermicelli). The only thing they got right was the Young Coconut Juice. The food tasted nice and had lots of flavour but it would've been lovely if they actually got any of meals right. We were charged the higher priced dishes of course. The guy who took our order could see what I had pointed out on the menu so unsure if they do a switcheroo on unsuspecting customers. It is cheap and cheerful for what they offer though.

I asked if there were any recommendations and I was told I couldn't go wrong with the lamb wrap. I would say - not bad - but I'm not going ring my friends about it. I would assume it's just put together with all pre-made ingredients. They do mostly sandwiches as they don't seem to have much in the way of kitchen facilities. It is nice being away from the food court though so that's a plus. All in all, I would say if you're just looking for a quick sandwich and don't want to battle the food court, go for it. We chose Hog's Breath as we were already dressed up and I heard good things about this place. The bar side of the restaurant was super loud and busy due to the Cronulla Sharks playing that night. Service was a bit slow and it did take about 15 minutes for the server to acknowledge us to get drinks and about another 15 minutes till he came back to take our order. The restaurant portion itself wasn't busy and there were only a couple other tables that were occupied so I couldn't understand why the server wasn't able to be more attentive. The wait was well worth it. I ordered the Prime Rib with fries, prawn and a Cesar salad that was topped with a garlic creme sauce. It was very delicious and I wish I can go back again. I would suggest making this the highlight of the night or going to dinner after a movie due to the slow service.

Gia Vien is a relatively small restaurant, narrow with tables of twos and fours. The menu is really extensive, lots to choose from. The pho was delicious, very nice broth. The spring rolls were delicious, and clearly came from fresh oil. Both Pho dishes were brilliant. As good as anything I have had in Vietnam. And served in monstrous bowls. Armed with an array of food allergies reaching Olympic levels (watch me break out in hives for…read moreAustralia!), eating out can be a trial for me. I have sat through many a meal watching other people eat. Not so at the Jazz Apple Kitchen. Hallelujah! Food I can eat! This was for many years the site of the Blue Tongue Cafe, a bit of an institution locally, so I'm very glad to see the new owners have kept up the old homely-if-your-home-was-a-funky-Newtown-stylishly-impoverished-but-cool-hangout vibe. They have local muso's playing Friday and weekend nights for tips, even the odd board game night I believe. They're small and do have quite the clientele, so it's advised to book ahead if you can. Best of all, and for which I praise them to the skies, is that they're allergen-aware to an unusually high level, almost everything on the menu has at least gluten-free options. Us poor, deprived types need to eat out too... The GF fruit bread I chose for brekky was actually really good (any of you aware of the crisis state of GF breads will understand the rarity of that statement). It's homemade, chock full of fruity goodness, and the coffee was large and satisying. I wish I'd been there around lunchtime, the menu made me embarassingly drooly: 'strawberry fennel sald with pistachio dukkah and balsamic dressing'. And a 55cent babycino for the littlies, yay. I sat at a little table ouside and read the community notices on the wall (local Crop & Swap produce meet and classes for mental silence). Walked home happy and without going into anaphylactic shock. Always a plus..

There was a 15-20 minute wait for coffee and since it was so busy, we were left sitting outside in the cold wondering if they'd forgotten us. A further 20 minute wait (total of 40mins) for food. The food was the biggest disappointment! I had the morrocan breakfast. It was bland with a capital B. The turkish bread with soggy and thinly cut, under several pieces of moist pan fried, thick unseasoned eggplant. I don't think the dish was spiced at all and there was so salt and pepper on the table for us to at least add some flavour to the dish with. ... about as far as the beautiful spiced dishes of Morocco as you can get.
