The Living Museum is located on the south campus of the Creedmore Psychiatric Facility. Housed in a decaying former cafeteria, it is an active artistic space for psychiatric patients that is open to the public. Thousands of square feet of art, covering nearly every surface, in this haunted, surreal, AMAZING space. You could come here every day for a year and still see something new. The art is sophisticated, creative, unique, thought provoking, and is for a good cause. This is not only a fantastic art museum, but a wonderful therapeutic outlet for patients. I connected with one of the founders, Dr. Marton, as well as Dr. Reyhani, the director of exhibits. They were both warm, accommodating, and responsive. They helped me to see this exhibit, which I have now recommended to each of my friends who frequent New York. This is emotional. Intense. Maybe life changing. Best museum in New York, hands down.

The Creedmore Psychiatric Hospital plays host to a museum of the works of the patients of the hospital and the things they do are amazing. This is not just finger-paintings of clowns crying...this is serious art and some of it really makes you think that maybe all of us who have the ability to eat dinner without sticking the fork in our forehead need to just step away from the paintbrushes and go back to our day jobs...we we don't got 'it' Imagine the kind of sculpture that a schizophrenic could do, or the kind of installation that a Obsessive compulsive could put together and you are getting it.. The studio space is small but the staff is well equipped to manage a large party. The staff really engages the children and they are very professional. We attended a party for about 16 kids. They were given smocks, Paint and supplies to paint a small canvas. They were individually supervised and the kids really enjoyed themselves. The theme was Minions so the children created a minion to place on their canvas. While the canvas' were drying the children played freeze dance meets hot potato with a boxed prize. This was great to split up the monotony of crafts. The host ordered Pizza locally to be delivered to the studio and brought a cake. The party ran from 11:30-1:15 p.m. which was perfect. There was metered side street parking for up to 2 hours, which is a drag...but Bellerose Village has to collect somehow. I enjoyed the party maybe...a little more than my daughter.

While exploring the new Samanea mall in Westbury, I came across the MOUA.. Museum of Urban Arts…read more Intrigued, I walked in and saw a beautiful gallery of urban art (aka graffiti style art), from a plethora of artists. There must have been over 200 paintings, of all genres, many of which were created by extremely talented women artists. If I didn't have somewhere to be that evening, I could have spent several hours, if not the entire day, observing and admiring all of the details in each piece. When it comes to graffiti and urban art, it can be easy to dismiss the genre as just some quick phrases or tags created haphazardly with a spray can.. but the truth of the matter that these works and those like it require fine precision. Judging by the details of all the pieces on display, the artists featured also employ a multitude of applications and techniques beyond spray cans, such as pen & ink, paint brushes, stencils and freehand. With that being said, creating art using a spray paint can is extremely challenging and requires many years of practice to master.. so it is nothing to scoff at! Thank you MOUA for coming to Long Island and showcasing such incredible work! I look forward to coming back soon.

It completely mesmerized me and I promised myself one day I would own my own Fazzino! Fast forward to 2024, moving to a new home, with a lot of wall space, I was destined to make my dream a reality! I researched galleries that carry Charles Fazzino art, discovered Central Galleries and my obsession began! I was greeted right away by Jeff Beja, the owner of the gallery and learned that Central Galleries carries an extensive collection of Fazzino's work! Every two years, they host a reception where you can meet Charles Fazzino and his daughter Heather, whose work can also be found at the gallery! They will personally autograph the back of any piece you already own or purchase that day with an original doodle! In 2024, I purchased my first 2 Fazzino pieces from Central Galleries. The gallery carries art from numerous other artists and have over 30 years experience in custom framing. Other services offered are appraisals, custom mirrors, art restoration and piicture hanging, Why wait 2 years to write my review of Central Galleries? December 6, 2025 was an experience of a lifetime for me. I attended the reception at the gallery and met Charles Fazzino and his daughter. It was thrilling to talk with and shake the hand of a man I have admired for decades, the most humble person and so incredibly gifted! I also became the proud owner of my 9th and 10th Fazzino pieces so my desire to own only one Fazzino actually turned into a collection. The gallery carries original pieces, sculptures and limited 3D editions! I cannot rave enough about Central Galleries! It is a family run business and they are all so incredibly professional and knowledgeable about the artists whose work they carry and the services they offer! Every piece you purchase is already professionally framed! If there is a piece you are interested in that they do not carry, they will try to find it and will work with you to design the mat and frame that will showcase and enhance its beauty! If you are not familiar with the work of Charles or Heather Fazzino, a visit to Central Galleries is a must! I promise you will not leave empty handed!
