Fantastic roast with real, homemade Yorkshire pudding and washed down with some kick ass Bloody Mary's. Go there !

They are accommodating and will adjust the plates to meet your requests. The only down side is the serving size is a bit small, but going with a few extra starters solves that problem. The beer line up here is outstanding... page after page of beers are listed here and my guess is it would take some time to come here and go through all the beers they offer here. Some of which have very high alcohol content to boot. This certainly is not your rowdy pub, nor is it a stiff suite place either... its relaxing and always offering something different. Everything was fine until about midnight then several people on the table next to us started smoking (we were indoors). We commented on this amongst ourselves but didn't actually engage the group on the other table. They then moved to the other side of the bar where several other people were smoking. I also noticed the barman light up a cigarette. After about ten minutes one of the women from the group came over to our table. She asked us if we had been there before and I said we had been a couple of times. She then said that her and her friends went there every day and smoked. She said it was a lock-in and they were allowed to smoke, so I asked her if the doors were closed. They weren't and it was 1:00am (their own website says that they close at 2:00am on a Saturday). The woman then turned aggressive, shouting obscenities at our table and then screaming in the face of my wife. Then she picked up a glass and smashed it on a table directly behind the head of my friend, showering him in glass. The barman (the same one who had been smoking) came over to apologise, saying only that she was drunk. The woman wasn't asked to leave and was still in the pub when we left. Avoid.

Prices are reasonable, heaven help a student inhabited pub that doesn't price drinks well. You may think this has nothing to do with the pub or the staff yet after being assaulted I calmly said to the drunkard you are drunk go away sit down etc the landlord came out to what I thought would be eject this drunkard from his property. Yet all he did was treat us new faces that obviously aren't valued customers like his regular trouble causer with utter contempt and disrespect almost as though we had in fact started this ridiculous scenario that transpired.. If you are new to this pub please tread carefully especially if bringing your children
