I guess the "Disney" experience wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but a fun way to pass the time none the less. First and foremost, I have to give credit to all the cast members working in each of the different "rooms" who really give it their all, even if it's a bit cringey, and even if the crowd response is awkward. I used to work the Halloween events at Eastern State Penitentiary, so I know what it's like to interact with the public with varying levels of response or enthusiasm. Having said that, it is a little bit corny and not my general cup of tea. If you like the amusement park sort of vibe (that's horror themed) then this will be a short, fun excursion. A couple jump scares, sometimes they will ask you to participate in small roles. No wheelchair access, and disabled may have a bit of trouble in some sections. Several stairs, dark and cramped passageways, etc. The cast is there to guide you for the most part, but you may definitely get "stuck" in a couple places. read more

Think haunted house decor and dark humor. It's like a low budget Tim Burton film. Costumed actors move you from room to room and involve the audience in the presentation. It was not a fright-fest, nor was it gruesome... it was humorous, though some might say in poor taste, or even tasteless. The stories centers around old Amsterdam loosely. The costuming and makeup aren't half-bad. No real history lessons to speak of. You pose for several pictures that they want to sell ya at, I believe, 15 a pop. It is DEFINITELY a tourist trap, but one that may come in handy to break up the day with a bit of comic relief, especially if in a group, since there is the likelihood of at least one of you being called to the stage. I was burned at the stake as a witch & another in our group of 4 had the pleasure of being castrated. No cameras allowed, all electronic devices off. read more

I'm gonna say it definitely wasn't quite as scary as I would have liked however, it wasn't bad either. It was a fantastic way to pass some time. There was one specific scene however which was done spectacularly and did have the creeps. read more

I came in with high expectations because a friend talked it up. Turns out he was just really, really stoned the first time he went. If you like schlock, then the Dungeon is your thing. The best part is the decor. The acting is good, but they don't actually do anything scary. There were some jump scares, but it's not like you ever felt in danger, even for a split second. And we did the night show too, which is longer and supposed to be for adults only. The best thing was actually a mirror maze. Our friend was tasked to lead the way and we kept walking into mirrors. It was great. Especially if you aren't sober. I will give credit where credit's due - all of the actors sure were dedicated (in an over-the-top way). And you get a "free" drink at the end with your token. And then it gets super touristy and they ask you to pay money for photos they took of you throughout. Tip - buy online or at one of the tourist ticket shops to get a few dollars off. If you do the later show, you can just pay the difference at the door. read more

I was between 2-3 stars, but for the price, we're going 2 stars. How in the world is this the same price as the rijksmuseum?? It's about 45 minutes of nonsense teetering between a haunted house and an unbelievably weak history lesson. It's like they tried to combine both and accomplished neither. You walk from room to room with actors in each room trying to scare you, while telling you a tiny bit of history about Amsterdam (I guess??). I literally can't even tell you what I learned. If you're on the fence about going here, absolutely skip it. I wish I would have known. No clue how this place has such high reviews. read more

It was a good time out and if you can understand that it's a comedy show more than a horror show, you will have a much better time. There are one or two genuine scary moments, and a couple that are really funny. The rest is learning about Amsterdam's past. Review date: 1/20/2011 After I left Madame Tussaud's I was kind of skeptical about coming to the Amsterdam Dungeon, because I thought it'd be like the scary walk in the wax museum but instead it's a whole building with JUST that :[ But we got there and asked a worker what it was like, he explained, we decided to stay. simple. Right when we walked in they took a picture of me chopping off my boyfriend's head :] nice! Then we proceeded. It was basically a bunch of different rooms with an actor, and they engage the audience into the history of it. It was actually very cool! I suggest if you have young kids, you might want to skip this. A kid about 9 started to cry in one room and another got so spooked he jumped onto me. But if you're not a kid and want to learn some real horrible history of the Dutch in a fun way, then this is it! read more

LOVE it! Any ______ Dungeon is definitely worth visiting (London, Paris, etc.), but I am partial to this one in Amsterdam. This place is a great way to learn about the often untold or hidden gruesome tales and history of Amsterdam. Nasty tales of scurvy at sea and the black plague throughout the Netherlands will be told with help of actors and wonderfully decorated rooms. The tour is guided and starts with a picture opportunity to chop off your loved ones/buddys heads, which you can pick up as a keepsake later. Your tourguide will take you through the 'museum' room by room, a different story told in each one. They utilize lighting, sound effects and even moving equipment to create a very lifelike experience and delivery. The overall feel is gruesome and fun, I would not call it scary or disturbing but for the faint of heart there are a few 'jumpy' moments awaiting you. Some of these actors look pretty...real. The tour concludes with a fun, optional rollercoaster ride through the dark. I've been twice, and would come back a third time without hesitation, it's simply that much fun. The Dungeon is a very fun, interactive way to learn interesting facts about Amsterdam, and I highly recommend stopping in. read more

This was our second Dungeon (we also went to the Edinburgh Dungeon). It was OK, we liked the Edinburgh Dungeon more. I liked the decorations and sound effects when visiting the bathroom at this Dungeon more than the Edinburgh Dungeon, but overall the experience was not as good. I would say the prices were pretty similar for the two, but this Dungeon's duration was a lot shorter. We feel like we didn't get our money's worth here. If we hadn't been to another Dungeon before this one we may have enjoyed it more. Note: We had a large group of deaf individuals join us and it got a little awkward at times when the actors would be yelling at them and telling them to do things and not catching on that they couldn't hear very well or at all. Maybe they should check for something like this along with their checking of anyone that's pregnant and/or that has back problems. read more

I was told Amsterdam was a liberal city, so when I was caught, and burnt at the stake for, inciting Beelzebub by dancing naked round Dam Sq, screaming "SEND ME A MAN!" I began to doubt just how open minded this city is! This is the 3rd city I've seen the Dungeon tour, after Edinburgh and London, and Amsterdam did not disappoint. Friendly, yet terrifying staff, and gruesome special effects, coupled with great performances from the actors made this one hour tour feel like 5 minutes, in the true sense of time flying when you're having fun. read more

Since I got one free ticket for the Amsterdam dungeon, me and my partner decided to check it out! We didn't really know what to expect, so that made it extra exciting! When we went inside we gathered in a small group of people and went inside the dungeon with them. I don't wanna spoil much, but I can tell you that you get a funny, exciting tour through the dungeon! In the dungeon actors perform quite a creepy funny show in which they also involve people from the group, which makes some funny scenarios! You'll end the tour with a very cool, special ending and you exit through the Amsterdam dungeon shop in which they sell all kind of creepy halloween-like stuff! You can also buy a picture as a souvenir that they make unexpectetly of you in the dungeon! If you want to experience something unusual, creepy and cool I really recommend going here! read more

Great dungeon only thing is it's missing the rides. No fun drop. But the theming and the acting was extremely high quality.

Not what I expected at all. It was an interactive show. Honestly I bought a ticket from the lindberg thing because it said it was half off. The actors did a good job. I think this is better for kids and more active audience. I would avoid this on holidays. Everyone was fantastic especially with the giant line of people. I'm sure all the actors were extremely tired by the end of the night. I applaud their effort but they definitely overbooked. It kind of smelled like pee but I don't know if that was the theatrics or if someone got tired of waiting so long. read more

My favourite attraction I visited at my stay in Amsterdam. Really funny and jumpy show where you learn about the Amsterdam dungeons and the people who lived there! I was chosen as the town witch so I had to stand up in an act and pretend to get burned at the stake. Pretty embarrassing but fun too ha! A lot of parts in the tour your in the dark so if that frightens you I'd give this one a miss. Really worth a visit! read more

Great place if you are a tourist and never been to the netherlans. Kind of interesting to see they show 10 different shows and have 7 terrifying actors and a mini roller coaster at the end of the tour with a tiny drop. Great for kids. Not to expensive. It is diffentely a must see. I was laughing cause it was kind of cheesing how the characters were dressed and act but I loved it. They also pick people from the crowd and will torture them for a bit. There is a labyrith mirror maze which was pretty neat getting lost in there for a few mintues. Bad flaw is they don't allow you to take any pictures so BOOOOO on that. read more

It's a very touristy and cheesy experience, but we had a lot of fun and laughed a lot. It's supposed to be scary, but I found it just entertaining :) Throughout the experience, you learn more about the history and I prefer to learn through the interactive approach they have vs just reading and walking through a museum. My out of town friends loved it and still ask about going back when they're in town. If you're in the area, have some time to spare, and like some history, stop by! read more

Kinda boring and over hyped. It wasn't scary. It says no one would touch you, but we were hit on the knee with a tool by one of the cast members more than once during one of the acts. I took my phone out to check and the same cast member made such a big deal about it. She used the F word when asking me about the phone while there was 2 young children in the tour and both children looked younger than 10 years old. She also called me an idiot. Yes I know we are not supposed to take our phones out during the tour, but it was for less than 10 seconds and totally not worth the reaction. I mean she could have been nicer about it. The dungeon might be scary for children but not adults. The interaction with the customers is rude at most times. Not even funny rude. read more
