I'm professional woman experiencing displacement and my children are being withheld…read moreinappropriately. I'm self-supporting by my own income all of the time up until this week and if you off days where my income did not align with a bill. I'm a woman with poor credit who lives a Christian lifestyle my fundamentals are. I have the capability to advocate for myself I can speak in a manner that gets my words across and I can communicate my needs, however there have been days in my medical journey or my mental health journey where I could not communicate my needs to the hospital I could not communicate my needs to social work I could not communicate my needs prior to learning about what they were. The reason I am so openly willing to share this information is because my experience here at this space is that as a woman who can understand what's going on around her and can use her words to ask for what she needs I am still unable to receive a safe situation based on protocol. I'm not a woman who's experienced homelessness for years or been an addiction or run the streets so I'm a woman exiting my home to the space in an emergency crisis situation, for women who have been made to jump through hoops for years to receive basic necessities I cannot imagine how they are treated and the situations they deal with if they do not have the words to respond appropriately or the connections to reach out to safely. Never in my life have I felt so disrespected or physically demeaned in a professional setting outside of the county jail on an occasion when I was there improperly . There is nowhere to appropriately send this message so that is why it is public because I would rather say with my name or stay with my voice what is wrong in a situation then leave it be for others who are more vulnerable at risk than my own self. Being displaced for my means and my home and having poor credit and no financial support does not mean I lose my respect card I've been coming here for a period of 6 to 9 months while supporting myself in temporary housing without the DHA this emergency crisis situation does not a lot staff permission to put me in my place or teach me a lesson for there is none for them to teach me and they do not know my history. I believe it is a lack of continued education or a lack of proper training lack of understanding or maybe you burn out maybe it is a lack of funding and a lack of staff. I have never asked to use an additional service outside of my qualifications and that is exactly what it is a place like this it is a service to the community and the members of the community. Also my experience thus far has been a lot of assumption based treatment. As an adult who is not on any probation parole no stipulation no CPS and no criminal charges pending I do expect to be treated as an honest woman which is how I present in my community and how I am with my loved ones as well as professionally

Located on the N/W corner of Center and Fremont street, inside the Civic Auditorium building. This…read morePost is tiny in comparison to the other Post I've visited. But size is unimportant when it comes to matters of the heart. The bar is filled with Veterans playing the dice game liars while they sip on their favorite librations. The interior is dimly lit. The only light source is by way of the sunlight shining through the huge windows which overlook downtown Stockton. The kitchen is small. The hall is not separated by any walls or panels from the bar area and, you have to leave through the secure front door to visit the public restrooms outside in the hallway. But again. All the faults and dislikes of this Post don't mean a thing when you understand why it's here and what it's all about. Speaking for myself. The VFW's have been a church like sanctuary for me. A place where I can talk, socialize and interact with other Veterans because they're the only ones who get it. The ones who understand what it feels like to live and walk on a giant cuisinart each and every waking day.

They ask you to arrive before they start serving at 5:30pm in their parking lot. It's a drive thru set up. I got there about 5:05pm and was 2nd in line with about 10 cars. While I was in line waiting in my car, the nicest members of the Eagles Local #848 were walking past my car window saying, "Hello! Have a happy Thanksgiving!" and with a smile. I really appreciated that. They bring out the bag of food to your car on the passenger side and you hand over the cash or check. Easy! My husband and I look forward to enjoying these weekly Wednesday night meals! (See attached meal sheet). Thanks for doing this Eagles Of Lodi #848!
