It is what it is! This place is (relatively) cheap and cheerful and provides a menu of pub classics and a large selection of grilled meats. The staff are very friendly and try their best to make things go smoothly. The food is good, not great and definitely not as bad as some other cheap pub chains. The decor is a bit dated but this is a place where you go to watch the game or with the kids for a burger not a romantic dinner for two and for that it's fine. A while back I did a brief stint working as a temp in the HR department of the NHS Blood and Transplant centre in Filton, just up the road from this place. The Air Balloon was a great option for the occasional long lunch and couple of drinks with work colleagues when the grind of admin got a bit too much to bear. They have a midweek lunch club, where a selection of main meals from the menu is available with a drink and a dessert, all for only a fiver! That's Wetherspoons beating prices, right there. They also do a 2 for 1 offer on all meals, all day, so if you and a friend can't find anything you fancy on the £5 menu, you can still be sure of grabbing a bargain. It seemed mostly populated with Airbus and Rolls-Royce people because of the two large plants next door. Hi All, I really didn't want to waste my single minute on this pub but the thought that my feedback might benefit some of the individuals and prevent them wasting their time to try out meals/drinks in this place gave me reason to jot something. Apologies everybody on the star thing above which says 1 star as I was not able to give this pub more than "0" star through the site. Actual rating for this place is Big fat "0" Star. Absolutely no point for anybody to go there. Now, Why: Background of the place: This restaurant was sold multiple times in past few years due to losses (I guess) but the service, food quality, menu, staff , ambience are still the same, i.e. awful. Only thing which helps this pub to survive is it's location. Very apparent location which helps this pub hunt lots of innocent people from Airbus/etc :-) through their big boards like "2 for 1", meals under 5 pounds, etc. Food Menu/Quality: Pretty usual stuff as in most small pubs. Clearly all food here is frozen from very low quality retail chain and then heated or fried and given, through retail chains as well they have done outstanding job of buying things in great deals which means reciculuous quality of frozen food. The quality of the meat is rubbish and everything tastes like a dog shit. Alright, let me refine my words, it's cheap dog shit. Very limited menu and you are only stuck within cheap Retail chain's freezer. I would give this pub 0 out of 5 when it comes to food. Service: Everybody is very very busy in this pub. So you need to virtually run behind guys and chase them for everything. When the weather is good and you occupy good seat than you see their service :-).. I would rate this pubs service as very poor. Even the guy on Bar who I think is the senior most guy of this pub has absolutely no clue about the word "customer service". I mean the person is disgusting & very shrud in his behavior. I was not able to digest so much attitude and that to from a filthy bar tender of a pathetic pub. Ambiance: This is big pub and to maintain this big pub isn't an easy job and I would say this is the reason for the massive dirt which is all through out the pub. The doors, window are pretty old and carpet really messy. All the stuff hanging around seem to be car boot material and does stink a lot. Not to say that you don't get good things in car boot but every thing needs maintenance and i do not agree that anyhting is maintained in there. This pub has one excellent feature of "Pool table". And you know what, you need to go there and see this for yourself. The table seems to be 100 years old, Condition of balls, Cues and the table is like of any pathetic pub of a third world country where pool is deemed to be so expensive that they can't afford anything related to pool (Green cloth, Balls, Cues, etc, etc). Common man, I am not concerned with your pubs reputation but for the sake of Great Britain at least remove the table at once or bring it to some standard atleast 2/10. All in all.. I go at one place at least 2 times before leaving any feedback as I know my honest words can effect something but this pub is worst experience in England for me. I would suggest to any of the guys who is related to this pub to go and visit "Fox Den" pub which is not more then 1 mile from their and see what actually British pubs are all about. We stopped here on our way to Cardiff from London as they had a roadside sign advertising a cheap Sunday roast for £11.99. I ordered the pork belly and it was delicious. Tender, flavorful and wonderful. The Yorkshire pudding and peas were also delicious. Overall, a good Sunday roast option. read more

Well I don't know what this says about the food hygiene here, but in contrast to the bar area which seemed ok, when I went to this pub last night the toilets were in an appalling state! I went to the gents and found that one of the two toilets was completely blocked. In the other, I found that there was no lock on the door, there was no toilet paper dispenser. There was one loo roll sitting on the floor soaking up a pool of urine. The hand dryer didn't work. The place has clearly not been maintained or decorated for ages, and it stank of pee. When I complained to the manager, she said I should have switched the drier off an back on at the w, as if I was being stupid. She then said that it would be attended to. Fat chance! read more

I love this place mostly because the staff are extremely friendly and courteous. Food is not the best ever, but then im being real it's really reasonably priced pub food, portion sizes are fab, tastes good and there's a very good choice. Every time we've been there's been a warm atmosphere and we leave happy, well fed and looking forward to our next visit. read more
