The ONLY reason this place even deserves one star is because of the instructors, who honestly do the best they can with the little support and resources they're given. The students and instructors are carrying this school on their backs while administration sits around doing absolutely nothing to improve the environment. The campus director is on the biggest ego and power trip I have ever seen. She talks to students and staff however she wants, with zero professionalism or respect, and acts like she's untouchable. Instead of helping students succeed or even attempting to make the school run smoothly, she makes the environment stressful, uncomfortable, and completely toxic. There's no leadership, no accountability, and no actual support for the people paying thousands of dollars to be there. The condition of the school itself is honestly embarrassing. It is CONSTANTLY dirty, disorganized, and chaotic. I'm genuinely shocked state board hasn't walked in and shut the place down. Students are given cleaning tasks throughout the month. However half of the time the student in charge of cleaning either doesn't show up to school, and nobody is asked to fill in their job until the sink is overflowing with bowls of bleach, color, brushes, gel, etc. Or the student is given a client to work on instead, and can't get their job done before it's a complete mess. Just know you cannot expect to get any help from the campus director in situations like that, because she would rather give you dirty looks while she sits behind her computer playing games on her phone! students are genuinely expected to learn in an environment that feels neglected and poorly managed every single day. And don't even get me started on the receptionist who answers phones, schedules appointments, and checks clients in. She is consistently rude and nasty to clients for absolutely no reason. If someone doesn't know the exact "salon terminology" for what they want done, she makes them feel stupid instead of helping them. She also constantly turns away clients or refuses appointments because she assumes students "won't have enough time" to complete services, which literally takes opportunities and learning experiences away from students who NEED those clients to succeed. It's frustrating to watch. Again, the ONLY positive thing about this school is the instructors. They genuinely care and try their hardest, which makes me feel bad even writing this because they deserve so much better than the environment they're working in. I wish I could recommend this school because of them alone, but I can't in good conscience tell anyone to spend their money here. Unless you want to spend the next year in a constant manic episode dealing with stress, chaos, disorganization, and toxic leadership, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else instead.

I was there from 1:40 to 4:15 due to the fact that the student missed a couple obvious places, but after the wash and everything she had to redo parts of the color which by the way she cit corners again and had to do more "spot" coloring, due to the supervisor coaching her they only left the color in 20 minutes the first time so I'm sure after a few showers It'll start fading. The student was big boned and awkward, very lazy Too! The way she moved around the chair draped the cord over my shoulder going around the chair, totally unaware and non enthusiastic about her career choice and training, very bad etiquette very bad etiquette for the manager. The student was dissing the manager (supervisor/ Trainer) too by really not acknowledging her own poor performance. very disappointed then I was overcharged three dollars because they had to mix up a little bit of extra color again for what she didn't get the first time after wasting what was left from her first attempt. (On top of all the extra time that they wasted of mine). you get the just of it, Siri is not accurately stating what I am speaking. The student had to have common sense. You know when you're putting that stuff on someone's hair that you have to cover every inch of the hair and be precise to do a good job. Just go somewhere else there's another campus on the other side of town and there's a Josephs College of beauty several different options. I should have went with my gut, three hours and overcharged (I called the downtown location to verify prices for both locations). would've went a different option.

I got an anti-aging facial at VALO and I have to say it was one of the best I've had. I really love…read morespa treatments and make it a point to go to high-end spas when I'm on vacation; but just because there's a hefty price tag on it doesn't mean it's necessarily that much better in terms of quality. The actual facial I received here was incredible. I would call VALO a demi spa in that it has some amenities, but not that many. They do have a nice locker room and offer spa style robes and sandals, and you can take a shower after your service if you like, but they don't have a hot tub, a sauna, a steam room, etc. Their robes were pretty size inclusive, the biggest one I saw was a two XL. The facial room itself was nicely appointed, and had a feature I haven't seen in a long time, which was a little light display on the ceiling that was very soothing. The facial bed/table was very comfortable and ergonomic. The facialist was warm and friendly, but professional. She spoke to explain things as she was doing them, and to warn me when something would be cold or bright, but didn't speak so often that I felt like she was interrupting my Zen. I can tell she was very well trained, and her massage technique was excellent. Her hands felt experienced, and the way she moved from treatment to treatment was seamless. The only thing I noticed that could be improved upon was the volume of the music in the lobby. I really like the music they had, which was sort of a more modern spa track, but as the receptionist was giving me the tour, she spoke with her back to me and between that and the music I couldn't hear what she was saying.

It is so nice and quiet, and even waiting for your appointment is part of the experience. Sitting in their dimly lit lounge, wearing a luxurious robe, sipping a delicious cup of tea, and watching the "flames" dance in the firepit...it feels so indulgent, and since phones aren't allowed, it forces you to just be present for a little bit. I usually go for facials, and I love the Swedish Maria Åkerberg products they use. These are also available for purchase. Halle is a wonderful aesthetician, and I always feel so refreshed and relaxed when I leave. They provide the robe and slippers, and have lockers to keep your belongings in during the appointment. The locker room also has a shower, and some complimentary hair products and deodorant available for use. Everyone is always so friendly, and the prices are really comparable to other spas in town. To my knowledge though, this is the only place of its kind in town - a true, stand alone day spa. Definitely go if you're looking for some quality "you time".
