Kayla, Now that I've…read morecalmed down, I figured I would write to you directly. I scheduled a surgery immediately on July 31, the day we first met, since I've been wanting this surgery since early high school. The idea of this surgery has been very intimidating for me and I've gone back and forth simply because I've never had surgery before and it scares me. Also, I have a very severe neurological dysfunction (which I mentioned numerous times in our brief interaction((singular)) and trusted your team.) I hoped the surgery would help my symptoms. I was very impressed by the office and the staff (or so I thought). Dr. McDaniel's seems very professional and knowledgeable and I felt comfortable that I found the right team. That is, until you. There was no doubt in my mind this clinic would call me and check in/ remind me of the prep I needed to do, seeing as that's a very basic business practice. They have an incredibly strict policy on nicotine and with a policy such as that, you would think the least they could do it follow up as to not waste anyone's time or money. Your job after all, Kayla, was to ensure that your patients were physically and financially prepared for surgery. But you didn't. And I was caught up in booking bnb's, structuring my life differently with two dogs to have a 15lb weight limit. Traveling to CO and CA. Buttoning up my project in MT. And the kicker? I called the clinic one month before my surgery to ask about the weight restriction. The receptionist had to call me back because she had to talk with Kayla first. And instead of Kayla calling me back and discussing everything in a follow up call, Kayla had the receptionist call me back. She had every opportunity to remind me and because I hardly ever smoke nicotine, I wasn't worried about it. However, my friend gifted me a vape a month earlier and I got fairly stressed with my various projects and responsibilities and puffed it that day. Not only did Kayla not follow up, but the paperwork I needed for the follow up wasn't sent to me until a couple hours before my appointment and I was in Norris with no service and wasn't able to read it until I was in their parking lot. That's when I realized that I had smoked the vape without thinking and impulsively lied to the team about it because I wanted this surgery so bad (and I HATE lying). However, had I received a follow up reminder call, I would have thrown the vape away. Kayla, if I was your employer (for around 20 years I believe you said?) and you knew full well how strict our policy was about nicotine? I would expect you to always be setting a reminder on your calendar for 30 days before surgery regardless of if someone scheduled the surgery 9 months in advanced, 5 months in advanced or 3: it really shouldn't matter. Your JOB is to ensure the patients are BOTH financially and physically prepared. But you didn't follow up, I failed the test, and you got to keep my deposit. With what I believe was a slight twinkle in your eye, you gave me around 10 seconds to gather myself before you told me you'd escort me through the back (so no one had to see me) before escorting straight through the front. Where you had no clients waiting but somehow were "so busy". I walked back in (mind you, this is 20 days before surgery. Nearly one month.) and wanted to talk with Dr. McDaniel's. He was "busy with a client" and you once again, told me about your 20 years of experience and how in all the time you'd been there, he has made no exceptions. Then you did, in fact, escort me out the back. You told me, as I was leaving, that once I calmed down: we could talk about rescheduling. That is, with an entirely new deposit and the full payment for surgery. Between the glimmer in your eye, and no evidence of a follow up call: I lost complete faith in you. You even told me "we had an extensive talk on July 31" (THE DAY I FIRST MET ANY OF YOU AND YOU WERE SELLING ME THE SURGERY) and you felt that was sufficient? Not a chance. If I was your boss? I would see this as extreme incompetency, inconsideration and possibly extortion. Do you like collecting deposits? So Kayla, I'd like my deposit back. And once you calm down, maybe we can talk about changing or removing this review.

Our experience was phenomenal! We are from the Flathead Valley and we are often in Bozeman so we thought we'd see Dr. McDaniel after meeting 2 other surgeons in Flathead county. He was thorough, kind and also had a teenage daughter which put my daughter at ease. We loved our experience and could not have asked for a better outcome. My daughter is a whole new person and feels much more confident about her body now. Thank you!
