From my first time there to my most recent visit, the owner of the cafe has consistently come out to greet me and ask me how my day has been. This sort of pleasantry goes a long way and leaves a lasting impression ensuring the return of their customers. It's little things like small talk, wiping down your table and ensuring you have a clean ashtray that make the experience all the more enjoyable. The Deli is limited to breakfast and lunch meals, but do both extremely well with a huge variety of dishes to choose from. Their version of the B.L.T in a focaccia is my personal favourite, and the sizing doesn't leave you wanting more. The chicken schnitzel wrap is also a delectable choice. Coffee here is superb, and the fact that they offer large mugs is a bonus - the more the better! In addition to hot beverages, the cafe also makes smoothies on demand with your choice of ingredients. My girlfriend loves their freshly squeezed orange juice and carrot smoothies, and although the combination of the two may be off-putting, it's surprisingly good. The only criticism I can make of this place is that they don't stay open too long passed lunchtime and are closed on weekends, which is a downer if you're hoping to grab a late lunch or a weekend brunch.

They are well known for their pickles, sauerkraut, dutch liquorice and smoked speck. A lovely Hungarian boy I used to date insisted Sevenhill had some of the best Eastern European cakes in the markets - think poppy seed strudel kind stuff. This is one of those stalls where half the fun is seeing all these mysterious products you've never tried before. I like to give something new a go every time I come by. This is a great store for diehard eaters of German, Polish, Dutch and Scandinavian food. Keep an eye for kassler chops, capsicum pariser and quark cheese.

As if eating a hot dog wasn't phallic enough..). When I stop in at Le Bon's I punish their cheese dog ($3.80). Call BS, but I recommend requesting the cheese un-melted and on top. Neurotic, but hear me out. Le Bon's smears a bun with tomato sauce, sprinkles cheese, toasts it and then pokes the meat in. Too close to a budget-ass pizza. Let a dog be a dog, keep it traditional and get a little mountain of above ground, un-melted cheese. Warm service. After having unsuccessfully tried a number of other places in the market to ask whether their 2 or 3 "range" of dips had dairy or nuts in them, I was so refreshed to walk up to a store who had a detailed "gluten free, lactose free, nut free" listing for every one of their 20 dips on offer. There was such diversity in flavours from plain beetroot and hummus to Mediterranean Bean Dip, Pomegranate and walnut or Coriander Pesto. They also have a large range of South Australian and traditional Mediteranean single or mixed olives to choose from and cheeses galore. Aside from gazing into the ice cold cabinets full of goodies you can also check out the mini deli inside for any last minute unique ingredients you want to add to your antipasto platter, like biscuits, fig jams, spices, oils and more. The prices here are slightly higher than some of the Central Market's other stalls but the overly helpful service, informative nature of staff and diversity of range means I will be shopping here every time for any dipping or nibble needs.

They do an amazing trade at lunch time with their hugely popular baguettes. When I worked at Kent Town, I would drive past a dozen other sandwich places to buy my lunch here. There are 12 choices filled with all the yummy fillings you see in the display. They are made to order (they're pretty quick) so you can add or change any filling you like. They also yummy take away foods, like the baguettes that Rani mentioned. My hot tip: the kranskys here are GOOD. Fast forward 25 years and Parkside has now been gentrified and and is a bit yuppiefied but blessedly Duthy St deli harks back to its deli origins and not just in name only.
