However, expect to spend a lot of time there. I was treated terribly there recently. I broke down and cried because I wasn't able to express in hairdresser language what it was I wanted. I was asked by the student if I had ever been to a hair stylist before. "I don't know--maybe you've been cutting it yourself" my stylist said. Ultimately, I was asked to leave and left with my hair wet and unfinished. It was certainly the worst experience I've ever had with my hair. If you go--know exactly what you want!!! .

I used to go to Model Barbers until they raised their prices like $15 in the last year. Miguel did an amazing job. I avoid getting my hair cut because it always looks like garbage, but I was stunned at how well he did the front/top and he left a little mullet in the back as I asked. I seriously cannot recommend this place (I've come here before and walked away happy) and Miguel highly enough.

She was so amazing I couldn't help but sign up for her private classes. I went straight to 10 classes/haircuts because why do just 3 haircuts if can do 10 haircuts and have a chance to learn from a living legend!! So here I am in NYC were I just finished my 10 hands-on private classes and ohhh let me tell you I can't rave enough about them! There is no distraction, I could not have asked for a better environment to learn. It is so perfect. In addition I must say the quality of the teaching, and the values of the techniques I have learned are impressive. She is what every hairdresser should consider for themselves, for their confidence and personal growth.I have never experienced hands on training on live models like this. I had taken classes before but her skill level is beyond. She is the real deal ! She had favoritism amongst the women and talked about the others with the ladies she liked. She was not very hands on. She was very degrading of one lady because of her background/culture. She has a certain hate towards Caribbean and Spanish women. But even more so she isn't as Pro-black as she claims to be. When the focus should be on the teaching of hair it was on certain ladies and their challenges in life. One young lady she spoke so ill of that I just walked away when she started. She makes it seem that her finances are good when in actuality it isn't and she scams good people out of money for low quality. When enrolling for the classes you are supposed to get a full kit. The kit wasn't prepared, books weren't even there. Nothing was prepared. When someone paid you for services upfront the least you can do is make sure that the paperwork and kit is ready. She moves to a slow pace. She is always outside smoking cigarettes and sometimes you can smell alcohol on her breath even when hiding it behind breath mints. She really is basic and her teaching skills are simply mediocre. I hope she gets it together because scamming people out of over 7000 dollars for a 12 week course with a basic mediocre kit and skills isn't right. Just stick to the styling. It seems that anyone that does better hair than her or doesn't know anything gets treated like garbage. Reality check people come to learn to do natural hair. Everyone isn't skilled Sis. I contracted for September 22. They did not have certification and started me on December 6th. They over changed the VA and after was paid on Feb 1, terminated me through email. Then, said I withdrew from the school. I expressed verbiage mattered and they continued to provide improper paperwork. I am a disabled veteran. They also, we're dishonest about who was their liaison as well as who was the director. However, government website shows exactly who is. They also had charged for a supply kit and a deposit. Being in school till termination was about 68-71 days... never got the supply kits other then one. One of three. Never used the one kit I got other than two shirts. To be very honest, the program also only uses English 10:30/10:45 to 12:30. For theory. This school is not safe and is not honest. If you attended this school and have been in similar situation, I will be reporting and have them under a compliance investigation. As well as a lawyer. Also, it's important to note: I was not once written up or have never had any issue in the school other than confronting them.
