We asked for spicy and they delivered big time. Even gave us directions to an asian market that sells spicy chilis in nearby Perpignan. We are talking about going back a third time. They are from Paris, but they've been here two years. The area doesn't have much to offer mostly Crepe shops. Great to see these folks making yummy food here. If you like spicy. Ask for freshly sliced red chilis in fish sauce. Loved it. Going back for sure.

I played it safe and ordered the chicken pad thai. The sauce was salty bland and very different than what is served in the US - I had to throw in alot of pepper to get some flavor! Mon mari ordered the fish curry served over rice which was tasty. The fish was properly cooked and there was plenty of vegetables as well. Papaya salad was satisfying as well. Chez Jasmine is a small and unassuming Thai restaurant located in the main city of Carcassone (not in the old city). It is run by a Thai woman and her British husband, so it is very easy to eat there if you don't speak French. They have a website (http://www.chezjasminethai.fr/index.php?id_lang=1) which has their menu, and they also have English menus there. Chez Jasmine seats about 16 with three outdoor tables, so it is mainly used as a take-out place. The owner takes your order and then turns around and cooks it at the stove behind the counter. Her food is amazing - I say this as a lifelong New Yorker spoiled by the sheer number of tasty and cheap Thai restaurants in my neighborhood - and very well priced. Over the course of our stay, we ate the Red Curry (medium spicy; coconut milk, carrots, peppers, onions), the Panang Curry (medium spicy; coconut milk, peppers, onions, peanuts), and the Pad Thai. The currys were both amazing and were just full of great fresh flavors. She also puts in a lot (I mean a lot) of chicken as well as vegetables. The Pad Thai was also wonderful and had a really interesting, almost spicy, sauce. This is the kind of small restaurant that really relies on word of mouth and customer reviews to survive and I give it my wholehearted recommendation. The food was delicious, the owner was nice and extremely helpful, and the service was very quick. All in all, we took a chance on Chez Jasmine and were wonderfully surprised!
