I'd give this more accurately, 3.5 stars. That's It Market blew up after Anthony Bourdain featured it on No Reservations, and locals swear by these tortas. I got the Cubana for $17... and this thing is massive. Like, literally the size of my head. Easily feeds two. It's stacked with everything - beef or chicken milanesa, ham, hot dogs, eggs, chorizo, bacon - plus avocado, jalapeños, sour cream and more. Make sure you ask for extra salsa, it really brings it all together. Overall? Super solid for the price. Not the best torta I've ever had, but I 100% get why this is a local favorite. read more

I don't know if I just got unlucky but their Cubana torta and steak quesadilla were both extremely underwhelming and bland. I know this was one of Anthony Bourdain's spots from back in 2008 and I finally ordered it to try it. Their quality has been absolutely shot down because there's no way this is the same spot. This review is for a delivery order so I don't have details on service/ambiance. The cubana torta was unbalanced, the lettuce was lacking and tasted old. The beef Milanesa was underseasoned. The best parts of the sandwich were the hotdog and bacon because those were the only things that had flavor. The bread itself was extremely greasy on the exterior. The egg was overcooked to the point where it was so rubbery. My torta wasn't toasted or constructed well either. When I look at other photos of the same sandwich from this store the difference is night and day. The steak quesadilla is not steak. It's just the same beef milenesa. I ordered it expecting it to be steak as the description says but instead it was just a ground beef patty essentially wrapped in a really thick tortilla. The flavor of the tortilla was good and that's probably the only decent thing, but it was a bit dry. The salsas were also bland, there was 0 spice in both the green and red salsa. Also my red salsa was barely halfway filled. Overall a really disappointing experience for a spot I was really excited for. read more

I recently checked out That's It Market during a venture into the Mission. I've passed by this place often and I always wanted to try their tortas to see if they live up to the hype from their advertisements. I ended up going with the Torta Cubana which is loaded with several types of meat including hot dogs, Milanesa (I went with beef), bacon, ham, and fried eggs/chorizo. This artery clogger was certainly a whopping sandwich! I'd say it's enough food for two people (I ended up saving the other half for leftovers). The sandwich was tasty and filling. I'd probably do without the hotdogs next time since I don't think they added much. The salsa available on the side here is great. Your options include a spicy red salsa as well as a salsa verde. The atmosphere of this spot is unique as it's literally a food stand within a corner store. There are a few stools available to sit at the counter and eat if you'd like. The cashier for the store took my order and my food came out relatively quickly. It was a unique experience that felt a bit more like NYC than the Bay. Only bar seating available and was a little surprised they didn't have burritos on the menu. 4/5 Cubana torta with chicken - it's huge! Unless you're super hungry you can split this with someone. Very good and bun is crunchy and very tasty. Red and green salsa available. 3/4 Steak taco - the beef was a bit dry and overcooked but I still preferred the torta over taco. After a first time delicious Italian Ice from Bernie Bee's, I popped in here to try my first ever torta Cubano. When I said this to the gentleman at the cash register, he was very happy and the woman at the grill asked if I wanted chicken or beef. I went with the chicken, no jalapenos. I went back to the car while hubby was at DiAnda's and dove it. A bit of crunch from the toasted bun and lettuce, tender chicken and some salsa she put on the side. Location is nearly 20minute drive from the piers..... it is in a very sketchy area where we seen crackheads everywhere, people shooting up drugs down the block. I do highly suggest of being aware of surroundings especially due to limited parking. We did come on a Sunday and had to park nearly 3 blocks away. Aside from all that. Staff is super friendly. This was my first time here, I had been wanting to try this place out for a while for the tortas. Finally got to try them and I did enjoy them. I got the regular torta with Chicken Milanesa & my sister got the Cuban Torta with Beef Milanesa, they were really big sandwiches and very tasty. A good place to go to if you're in the neighborhood or want to go to a park nearby & have something to take with you. We stopped in here before for a snack (quesadilla), and watched the miracle of the Cubana sandwich in action. We weren't very hungry then, and had dinner reservations later, but made a mental note. Recently they made the top 15 sandwiches in the US and we had to go. Delicious!! We got the chicken one, and the chicken texture was kind of rough compared to the rest of the sandwich, but it had a good taste. I would try the beef one next time. They do have a Cubana that has both beef and chicken. It is a very large sandwich so we split one and we were both full. The salsa on top makes it perfect. The ultimate Cubano is basically a way to get a much needed nap. 1/2 way through the 1st half of the sandwich I felt like I needed to rest. By the end of the 1st half I was one eye closed and ready to sleep from the bevy of mouth flavors. It's a little busy and at times you can't even get a full bite, but it's a good snack. The regular Cubano is very good and nearly just as filling but the ultimate Cubano simply put has double protein. The pickled carrots and jalapeño are a nice touch with the added salsa they throw in the bag. It's been a while since I have a sandwich from That's It, but I took a friend there last week to grab a couple of Torta Cubano's and head to Latin American Club for some margarita's. Yes, the sandwich is huge, and it is definitely worth the price as it will completely fill you up. It is a very San Francisco interpretation of the Torta Cubano, and we liked it but its' not what I would call authentic, at least if you were looking for the Mexican version of this. I really prefer the Torta Cubano at Torta Gordo's. That's my definition of this sandwich, and its similar to the ones I used to get in Mexico City. It is just as dense, and costs a few dollars more, but the flavor is just so much better. It has a wonderful smoky chipotle sauce that sets it off, and is more dense (they compress it on a hot press) so the flavors run together. The large is definitely a meal for two.
