You can sure tell hipsters and food fashionistas have taken over this corner market because I didn't see a big lottery machine or worn-down lucite cases with stale bear claws and what were once cheese danish. But there were a lot of bottles of Japanese libations and snacks. Instead of plasticized pastries, they have mochi muffins and doughnuts under glass. Random origami paper cranes were strewn about, and it wasn't even J-Town. No restroom but of course, a full-fledged coffee bar. The first time I visited, I just tried the $2 Coffee, a nice blend from Highwire Roasters (photo: http://bit.ly/2SjgjJm). This last time, I went full hipster and ordered the $4.75 Latte which was quite pleasing (photo: http://bit.ly/2RVdDTu). If they start selling those skinny Japanese sandwiches they sell at Lawsons in Tokyo, I would be so in. COFFEE - 4 stars...nice brews AMBIANCE - 4 stars...no Foodhall but just as well (review: http://bit.ly/37X8G1T) SERVICE - 3.5 stars...nice enough but probably need to be a regular here to get traction TOTAL - 4 stars...a hipster hangout I actually didn't mind RELATED - In need of a caffeine fix? Here's a collection of places I've tried and reviewed: http://bit.ly/30sXK8D

What a neighborhood gem! We were very surprised by the goodies we found in this store. Not your typical corner liquor store. It's definitely an upgraded version with an Asian twist. We were in the area for a Ritual latte but the line was down the block ugh and thankfully we remembered this place had a La Colombe sign hanging outside and so thought it would be a decent plan B for caffeine. We thought right as there's a full service cafe inside. No latte is better than a Ritual latte and the one I had here wasn't great (tasted overly strong to me) but to my delight, they do serve Third Culture mochi muffins and donuts. Say what?! Big plus was that we were the only ones here initially so no line. A gentleman came in after us and seemed to be equally as surprised as us by this place and was raving about their sake selection. I didn't peruse the alcohol but saw lots of Japanese non-alcoholic drinks up for grabs ie. Pocari sweat, Royal milk tea (one of my favs), Calpico as well as Japanese ice creams (matcha taiyaki!) that you would find in Nijiya. Now you can stock up on Asian treats without having to go all the way to Japantown.

Such a cute corner store! I live around the block and always walk by it but never in. I finally made it inside and was pleasantly surprised! I lived in Japan for a few years as a child and was so excited to see all the little snacks available here. Everything from unique kit Kat flavors to shrimp chips to Pocari Sweat! Brought back a lot of memories and I was excited to share the fun treats with my partner as we perused the aisles. We left this time with 2 mochi muffins and would definitely recommend you give them a try if you're a fan of mochi texture. The flavor is light and the characteristic mochi sponygness keeps you full without feeling like you downed too much sweetness. Prices overall are on the mid/higher range but it's a fun place for a splurge on some unique stuff. Will definitely he back to explore the other snacks here!

    Here's matcha powder!

I was waiting past the New Year to try a different taste of matcha even though it's the same color, not hojicha. Tonight is the right time at Dolores Outpost to enjoy a cup of plain matcha straight from Miyazaki prefecture. Usually, the matcha we currently have was once grown from Uji, Kyoto. Then the other came from Kirishima. When it comes to fruity vegetal notes, not all green tea powders are created equal. Like tea leaves from China, taste depends on climate. Anyway, I'm dying to try Miyazaki's matcha. First sip, never too bitter. After few more sips and a waiting period, sweet stringent aftertaste kicks in. I want to assume that the aftertaste is different to Uji matcha, perhaps less strength. Matcha latte isn't always my cup of joe, so I choose plain matcha which is the same as the bowl form, for only $5. Same with hojicha without hot frothy milk. I admit that I haven't stir the powdered content when it gets clumpy on the bottom. Or maybe the store clerk just normally stir rather than whisking it. But matcha is matcha. If you're looking for the authenticity of matcha, head to Dolores Outpost. It'll be worth your time if you like the fruity vegetal aftertaste. *w-

Pretty good mochi desserts! Friendly staff and the store has a lot of interesting options Their hojicha latte was a little watered down but not bad

Came here to try out the Banh Mi sandwiches, and ended up getting the Almost Thai Beef Banh Mi. At about $10 a piece I was expecting something quite a bit better than what I got. The sandwiches were cold as they are refrigerated in the back, and while they offer to heat it up for you, it still ended up being pretty cold, and we waited for quite a while for it too. The banh mi itself wasn't too bad, but it wasn't that great either, partly because it was cold. The meat tasted of pretty good quality, and the flavors were good, but had they been served fresh they probably would have tasted much more enjoyable.

We walked in super excited by the la Colombe poster and white claw advertisements. My friend asked me to grab her a coffee while she used the restroom. As I'm browsing my isles and she's attempting to use the bathroom the overweight man working the cash register screams at my friend "UM EXCUSE ME WHERE DO YOU THINK YOURE GOING" disrespectfully. She responds "oh sorry I thought there was a bathroom" to which he said "I don't care what you thought you don't just walk around my store like that" (what are you supposed to do at stores?) and continues "the restrooms aren't for public use" and we respond sorry we thought if we bought something we could use them (totally plausible) he then states "I don't care what you thought" we then decided to leave and not spend our money there. So disrespectful, never have I been spoken to or treated like this in an establishment I was trying to spend money. I can't believe this man has a job working with people he should be fired.

Pathetic still and probably always…read more It's a terrible program if you need to have any kind of portability in a photo database. There is no easy way to move a database or part of the database from one computer to another. The customer service is unbelievably insulting and bad. Sometimes they do reply, but better they don't. They do not deserve your patronage. The following email passes for product support. The entire thread isn't available, but 5 days prior my friend had followed directions to try a third party fix. The reply email is wrong, that the fix had been tried and that it did not work had been communicated to Cerious. Their initial response? All questions had been answered and they were closing the ticket; somehow the problem had to have been caused by a party other than Cerious. That pathetic response was addressed below in the original message. That was the extent of insult to the person providing support, Laura Shook. That it was pathetic. Their reply bemoaned some fantasy of non cooperation: -----Reply Message----- This is Phillip, developer of ThumbsPlus. First Adam and then Laura provided correct and polite answers every time in this case, and you replied each time by denying what was clearly said and being obnoxious and rude. I have no idea why you refused to do what you were told would correct the problem that Laura correctly identified as being with MICROSOFT'S Windows Installer database or MSI cache on your system. Laura was also perfectly correct about having nothing to do with version 8. Version 9 uses a completely different Windows Installer product code, and installs and runs completely independently from version 8. In the screen shot which YOU provided, and which I have attached again here, it's crystal clear that there is a problem locating the .MSI file from version 9 (NINE) SP1. I even enlarged and colorized the relevant information from the error message for you. So please follow the initial instructions, quoted below for your convenience. After you remove ThumbsPlus 9 using this tool, you should be able to install the latest build. If it doesn't work, let us know and we will investigate further. --- An easier way has been reported to me from other users. I now have a link to a newer M$ uninstall/install fix executable. I have not announced this yet on the pages yet but if we continue to get great results we will put a link on our pages to it. This file was created to fix this issue caused by an error in the Windows installer folder on your system. support.microsoft.com/ma... After this, the new installer should operate correctly. --- If you continue to refuse and continue to be a condescending jackass, it will not be possible for anyone here to help you with this problem further. This quaint little tavern of a spot is a true hidden gem of SF, or at least of Pacific Heights…read more Okay, maybe Lower Pac Heights. Okay maybe it's not actually a gem at all, but rather a pebble that happens to be somewhat shiny. It's a tiny little family-run joint no larger than a 3-bedroom apartment. They don't even have a website! It's barely visible from the street but once you squeeze between a minimart and a salon of some sort and climb up the hidden stairs in this mini-alley, you'll find yourself on your way to the adventure of a lifetime. Once up the dingy and disgusting stairs, the impeccably spotless front lobby of the establishment leaves you feeling immaculate from within. All that changes however as you enter the actual Den. This private VIP room has a decor of its own that is a bit disjointed from the rest of the place. The immaculateness seems to end at the door of the den, but the sloppy interior adds a homely feel which I ain't complaining about. Among the oddities of this joint is a random hatch in the wall that opens up to the great outdoors. It is a tiny hatch, barely wide enough to stick an arm though. I am told that it is the remains of an ancient garbage chute that once was. Many people however use it as a convenient means of checking the weather, or so I hear. Musical instruments, such as guitars, abound the area and seem to have been left behind by past inhabitants. If you go to the back, you can open up a strange closet, only to find a random light deep within its bowels that can be turned on from the outside. There are beds to lie down on. With no official "hours", the Lobster's Den is always open as a chill hangout and party spot, unless the owner is away. There's often drinking that occurs, but mostly I have seen people either studying there or sleeping, oddly enough. I used to always see this one cute little Indian number in there. Actually she's the only reason I would go there, to tell you the truth. This hottie was always there, so you single guys out there should definitely check this place (her) out, especially if a little spicy Indian flavor's your thing. Now if that doesn't scream Local Flavor, I don't know what does. The other day, Samir and I were hanging out there at 3am, just kicking it with her. And that was when we found out that she's the owner! She gave us the grand tour. Grand old time indeed. The only reason I give it 3 stars is the emptiness of this place. This owner chiquita's practically the only person that's ever there. I mean I don't really mind that all that much, but still! A little new blood wouldn't hurt. Although once I did see a tall manager in there. No one really knows about this place, and it's no wonder. They don't even have a website! I mean come on! In this day and age! No wonder I'm the first person to Yelp it. The sexy mama was telling us, however, that they may shift their location in another couple months. So maybe they're holding out for that. Hopefully the new one will be better publicized. And hopefully there will be more chicks there.
