From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly accommodating, making sure our lanes were set up, food came out on time, and everyone was taken care of. The food was surprisingly good for a bowling alley hot, fresh, and perfect for snacking between games. You could tell the team there knew how to handle big crowds and keep things running smoothly. The bartenders absolutely killed it last night they were nonstop busy, but still smiling the whole time. I'll admit, we probably drove them a little crazy with how many rounds of shots we ordered, but they handled it like pros. They were total sweethearts, keeping the drinks flowing and the energy high even as we got a little tipsy and loud. It really added to the party atmosphere and made the night even more memorable. Between the drinks, laughs, and friendly competition on the lanes, it couldn't have been a better way to celebrate our milestone. Everyone had a blast bowling and cheering each other on. The staff made us feel welcomed from start to finish, and I can honestly say I'd love to come back here again whether it's for another company event or just a fun weekend night out with friends. AMF Lanes Syosset definitely knows how to deliver a great time!

I held off writing about my experience at GEM for years as I had to process the trauma of the…read moresevere emotional abuse I endured, specifically pertaining to the owner of this establishment Grace Ham. I am now an adult and sharing my story. I first enrolled at GEM academy in the summer of 2016 as my older brother was already attending. When the school year started, I continued attending GEM which was when the severe emotional neglect and abuse started to happen. She loved comparing and pitting students against each other. I overheard her one time even telling another student who was in the same class as my brother his personal grades and giving advice "that he needs to beat him" as he was spending more money with her. At the time, there was a fairly good-looking high schooler. She would constantly discuss with her mother how insanely attractive he was in detail, crossing the line of blatant hebephilia. I struggled with understanding the material at school and studying. Rather than being patient and trying to help me learn (which is what you pay thousands of dollars for), Grace would frequently call me stupid, dumb, and all of the words you could possibly imagine. She would refuse to put me with teachers or even tell them not to bother with me as she would say "I would rather work with students who actually have a chance at succeeding". There were times when I would hysterically cry alone in the bathroom for hours but she would yell at me telling me to shut up and advising everyone to not talk to me. This would eventually drive me to the point of cutting myself and contemplating suicide at the age of 12. When I eventually left and asked for some advice, she said "it's not my problem anymore". Calling her an educator is an insult to the term itself. She's an abuser who quite frankly should have all and any educational and business licenses revoked. No matter how rowdy or rude a student, a literal child, is, abuse can never be justified. I am aware GEM has helped many students in improving their grades with positive experiences. However, that does not diminish my abuse and the horrific actions of Grace Ham as a business owner, boss, teacher, and overall person. To all the guardians, If your child currently attends here, I would advise you to discuss and reevaluate together. If there are any other students who have or are currently experiencing a similar situation, you are not alone. I promise there are far better resources out there. Please do not give or continue to spend a single penny on this establishment. Good grades cannot come at the expense of negligence and abuse.

Martial arts was a perfect fit and was helping him. When we moved to Syosset, we knew we wanted him to continue with martial arts so we spent some time trying to find a school that would be a good fit. He was three at the time so a lot of schools were hesitant to take him. Then we met Sensei Karen at Zanshin Self Defense. From the first sample class we knew her and her school would be perfect for our son. The classes are well structured and no one in the class is left behind. Each class flows from physical fitness to running, skills, and finally ending with some kind of fun game that the kids love. The best part is my son's muscular development is markedly improved and he is now doing drills with ease that used to give him troubles. Sensei Karen is great at empowering the kids and making them proud when they earn a "stripe" or their next colored belt. My son was so proud when he made yellow belt that I couldn't wipe the smile off of his face. Truly a joy to behold. Highly recommended and the first class is free. Give Sensei Karen a try, you won't be disappointed.
