Our room overlooked the AC units and we were next to a room full of children (we think, due to coming & goings, it was a nanny staying with several children while the parents were in a different section of the hotel). The bathroom was in need of repairs (sink stopper did not function properly, many chips and missing pieces in the counter tops). We were out and about the city for most of the stay and liked the location but would have preferred to come back to a nicer and updated room. Unimpressed and will stay elsewhere next visit.

Had to pack and move out not to have a room to go to for 3hours. Room given was a 2 floor room not looking at a river but at a building across the street. Day 3-7 After asking for the complaints registar, the front desk instantly called over the actual manager and regional manager. Once I explained my disappointment to them we were finally provided appropriate reparations for our troubles. Executive suite with a stocked bar, champagne, and dessert served to the room. Thank you to the Crown Plaza for making things right.

Above and Beyond: The next day, as we geared up for our adventure in the city, we decided to swing by the concierge desk for some local tips. Let me tell you, the concierge was an absolute gem! Not only did he provide us with fantastic recommendations, but he went the extra mile by walking us all the way to the Underground station. He guided us on how to pay, took us up the elevator, and even accompanied us to the platform. Talk about exceptional service! The entire staff at this hotel was top-notch. Cheers to G&Tea Lounge: We couldn't resist a stop at the G&Tea Lounge for a couple of drinks, and boy, were we in for a treat. The libations here were spot-on, and the atmosphere was just right for winding down. Cozy Quarters: Now, let's talk about our room. It may not have been the most extravagant we've seen, but it was comfortable and had all the essentials. The bed was just fine, though we did notice that the comforter was a tad lumpy, as you can see from the video. But here's the kicker - there was also an egg station where you could order your eggs just the way you like them, and they'd whip them up right in front of you. To start, the location of this place is not in central London, but it is about a two minute walk from a tube therefore it is super easy to get around. The line is in the second zone meaning you will pay a little extra for your daily pass, but it's not bad. There is also a Tesco Express right across the street which came in handy. Not much else in the area, a couple cool pubs, but, like I said, the tube is easy to get you around. In regards to the rooms, they are a little on the small side. My friend and I had a double bed and a couch in our room. My friend actually slept on the couch because the bed did seem a little on the small side for two people to use. My other downside to this place: I found the comforter too hot so I pulled back to sheets to sleep with those, and the mattress cover wasn't too pretty so I put the cover back and used the comforter again. Everyone in our group was super confused with the lights and thought we had no electricity, but you just needed to put your room key into a source near the door (just thought I'd mention that so no one else pees in the dark, lol). They have a public access computer which is a pretty decent price. The phone was really expensive but they have a pay phone in the lobby. The service here is also exceptional! Our group of 26 that went were treated very well. Seriously, 5 star customer service. The food for breakfast was also quite tasty.

On the negative side, the sound insulation between rooms is inadequate, and the HVAC system is not equipped from very hot weather. Although not without flaws, Threadneedles impressed me overall. Arrival: Friendly and helpful doorman Check-in: Efficient and friendly check-in. Acknowledged my Marriott status. Room (314): Nice king room with all the usual appliances including Nespresso coffee maker, tea kettle, mini-refrigerator, iron, TV, etc. Bed: Good king bed, decent linens. Sleep quality: overall good but the walls are paper thin. I was fortunate that the neighboring rooms did not have noisy occupants at night. But in the morning, I could clearly hear a parent in the adjoining room lecturing his young daughter. Bathroom: Spacious bathroom with excellent tub. Housekeeping: excellent housekeeping service and turn down service. Service:Overall excellent service HVAC: I visited during a record setting heat wave in London, and the HVAC system in the room was completely inadequate. The room was hot the whole time. Fortunately, staff brought me a fan, the fan and my extreme fatigue were the only factors that allowed me to sleep the first night. Seriously consider another hotel of London is experiencing a heat wave. Tips: (1) I was able to take the train from Heathrow (had to change to a second train at Paddington), and it was an easy walk from the train station to the hotel even with a large suitcase. (2) There's a great pub 1 block away called The Counting House. (3) Threadneedles is in the heart of the financial district. Many pubs and restaurants in the area are not open on the weekend.

Very tastefully decorated and not over the top, as some other higher-end hotels seem to be, lately. I also found that the cleaning service and turn-down service were magical. I don't know how they seemed to know when I had left my room, but upon my return it was always clean, and at night the turn-down service was a lovely surprise to find a small mint and a linen mist on my pillow. Now let's talk about something which is an often-overlooked feature of a hotel stay: the breakfast. This is typically a throwaway perk that anyone who travels a bit understands. At best, it's a spread of cereals and maybe a bagel or two. Most of the time it's served in a crappy lobby with coffee that has been sitting there for hours and servers who want to be anywhere else but there.  It usually screams, "Eat fast.  Please leave." Not here. Oh no. Even the breakfast is next level here. Sure, it contained all the normal things you would expect, such as bagels, toast, and cereal, but then they took it to the next level with some beautiful doughnuts, sliced meats and some cheese, yogurt with all the toppings you could want, and a beautiful selection of sliced fruit. However, what really made the breakfast experience phenomenal were the people. Specifically, Amesh, Epon, and Mohin. Each morning when I would walk through the doors, I would be greeted, and they would immediately take a coffee or tea order to go make it themselves. They were also incredibly friendly and attentive. I found their smiles infectious and a great way to start the day. This type of attitude was prevalent amongst all the staff.  They were simply the friendliest people of my day, and that really meant a lot when you are thousands of miles from home, in a city you don't know, by yourself.  Thank you!

I was put on the fifth floor, and it was very spacious. I was a bit nervous because numerous friends had told me that the hotel rooms are small, but it was more than enough space for two people and their large suitcases. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows were not overly soft, so they gave my neck good support. The room was very clean, and since I was there during the heat wave, the aircon was much appreciated. There was an incident during our stay where the Aircon did stop working due to a motherboard issue, but the front desk was so helpful and allowed us to switch rooms (even kept us on the same floor) so that we could have working aircon. This is an A+ in my books, especially with the weather at the time. The staff were friendly, and we never had an issue with cleaning, the front desk or the suggestions they offered. The hotel even made a little watch-viewing party during the Arsenal championship game, which made the atmosphere even more fun. The hotel is in an accessible neighbourhood just off Russell Square or just a few minutes' walk to Kings Cross. There is even a Tesco Express or Boots across the street. I will be staying here again.

However, there were a number of issues including one that was very dangerous Critical safety issue in room 2405: The bathroom doorknob did not turn and didn't have a visible lock interface, meaning that the door latch could not be engaged. Luckily, I noticed this before I went in and closed the door, instead using the bathroom with the door open. Before I checked out, I closed the door from the outside and confirmed that it could no longer he opened. If I had been in the bathroom I would have been locked inside. If I had been locked inside without a phone, I'm not sure how.i would have gotten out. Small issues (almost not worth mentioning, as folks should be booking this hotel solely for convenience): - I had a digital key, but the room required inserting a physical key card for master power - There was no soap in the dispenser in the shower, and since the dispensers are locked to the wall, they can't be moved around. - the light switches were a mess (confusing master switch vs other switches) - the shower had two heads. The rain head sprayed water in every direction, including out of the shower stall. The wand head sprayed water directly onto the shower door by default (right out of the shower) - all lights in this section are very cold in color temperature. Not a warm feel at all. In the hallways in the main section of the hotel every light is a different color temperature (a sign of lack of attention to detail).
