I teach classical guitar, classical fundamentals, give you the tools to create music.
I enjoy teaching beginning guitarists to build a good foundation of technique and knowledge. I like to use music/guitar analogies in life. I also teach adults.
Weekly or bi-weekly lessons. Classes are by appointment (e.g. Every Saturday at 11am).
History
Established in 2007.
Originally from PA, I earned my undergraduate degree in music from Kutztown University, where I founded the guitar program. I have a MA in Music/Guitar Performance from San Jose State University.
When I moved to San Jose, CA, I began teaching at Darrell Leffler's Academy of Music in San Jose and Milpitas where I taught group classes in keyboard, guitar, and private lessons in both. Skills such as classroom management, repertoire, lesson plans, and dealing with parents were crucial. We emphasized that it was important to have fun with music.
I also taught guitar privately in my studio, traveling to people's houses, at Northern California School of Music, co-taught a guitar class at San Jose State University with Jazz Guitarist/Professor, Rick Vandivier, and music outreach.
I've opportunities to perform at: weddings, private parties, recitals, Satori Tea in San Jose, Kaleid Art Gallery, open mics, the Los Gatos Historic House Tour, collaborated with artists, community outreach, etc.

I've been involved with music at an early age playing saxophone until I finished grad school. I received both undergraduate and graduate degrees in music, with a concentration on guitar performance.
What separates me from most teachers is the fact that, although I have been playing for a long time, I had to relearn how to play guitar and the passion of passing the knowledge on is forged by knowledge, experience, and compassion.
In one of my graduate classes on music education, I learned about Dalcroze, Suzuki, and other ways of teaching music. I researched about Brazil's music education system that was heavily influenced by Heitor Villa-lobos.
Other aspects include having fun! For kids, this may mean playing games and for adults it may be working through pop songs or listening to music together, critically listening.
