After speaking with Jim a little over a week ago, I went down there to take a look at the guitar he sent me pictures of. It was in new condition as promised and at an affordable cost. One of the guitar techs came over and assisted with explaining the features of the guitar and got me setup to try it out. I've been there four times. First time the employee was nice and helpful, ready to answer questions. Second time, the employee, a lady, wasn't very friendly but wasn't rude either. She was a bit impatient and unwilling to serve us. Maybe she was just tired, which was understandable. Third time, I got a lot of help from two employees and two teachers there. They explained in details and tried very hard to help me make a good decision. They really treated me as friends and hated to see me waste money. Then there was this last time. The employee was rude and condescending. He would not let me finish talking, scolded me like I were a child. Apparently, you cannot say one more word after he was done answering. He was unable to come up with a solution and rejected all the solutions you had. It had to be his way and he couldn't care less. I will try other stores. read more

This place is home town feel, John is very helpful. He switched a volume pot on my '79 Gibson Vee that I expected to leave with him for a few days at least. Well, he grabs it, I'm waiting.... 40 minutes... expecting an estimate. I did tell him I was performing at the Cliff Burton Day 2025 Event in February as a member of Trauma. But I don't think that mattered, he just took that Guitar, changed the part in 40 minutes . And charged me very little money. Now that is old school taking care of customers and community... cheers! I wanted to write a review for this great local business. I pass by here all the time and I had a ukelele with a broken tuning key and string that had been in storage for awhile. I brought in here one Saturday and Brenden fixed it for me on the spot in about 15 minutes and charged me only a small fee. Very helpful every time i go. Especially when we were helped by Jim Shannon for questions about a trombone for our son. He gave very useful info and did not pressure us to purchase a trombone at all. That's good business model, to build the trust and we'll most likely go back when it's time to purchase when he's more advanced. Renting from the store has been smooth. I checked up on how many more payments before we're fully paid and they took the time to calculate things out. Had the trombone tuned/straightened/whatever they do (my kid probably wasn't as careful at first), and it's been playing awesome since. We buy all the accessories we need here. very greedy. they will over charge you $300 for a $20 harmonica and rip you off because you dont know any better. not only that, but they will also try to selll you more junk you dont need. told me i need a tuner, but you can easily just download one on your phone. im quite upset they take pride in their crummy practices just to make a sale as they try to clear inventory. there is only one Allegro music in Fremont and its sad how the try to deny it. read more

I've known this business for 17 years when I started playing guitar. It's a shame that the customer service has declined. Business owner is light weight rude with play time in the guitar room. Employees are rude most the time with low energy. I do not recommend this place for musical enjoyment or purchasing. A music teacher in my Electives team at a local Jr. High was in dire need of bell covers and face mask PPE for dozens of students and their instruments. After he was told to order from Amazon but saw there would still be delays, I wanted to help my colleague and look for local music stores in a few neighboring cities -hoping to find at least a few needed items. I have a huge rave for Allegro. Jim Shannon kindly listened to our months-long story of PPE ordered, then returned to sender and students going without playing their instruments for the semester. He carefully jotted down all of the instrument covers needed and also put aside masks for us to purchase later that evening. Jim called me back a couple of hours later and found a distributor for us in the midwest. Mr. Shannon ordered and tracked the package for us. Within 10 days from the first phone call, we had all that we needed for the students to play. (It was over 25 pieces of bell cover PPE + 25 instrument masks). I highly recommend this store for service received. You made a Jr. High symphonic band very happy to be back in the swing of things. Bravo Allegro. Encore! P.S. I was referred by Ibanez warranty dept. to this store for the sharp fret ends defects on the new electric guitar I purchased. They all were pretty nice and kind, and resolved that issue. However, I noticed that the neck and bridge pickups have pretty bad scratches all over and black spots came up on the fret ends after I brought it back to home. I think that they didn't cover the pickups while buffing the fret ends, and I don't know if those black spots are normal after buffing the fret ends. The original issues were resolved, but this guitar got some other cosmetic issues. I wish I was told about the risk of these before the repair. read more

This place is a Fremont institution. I snapped one of my guitar strings and needed a hole drilled for a strap. I was in and out in 10 mins and all was done for a reasonable price. When I got home, the guitar sounded amazing (not only did I snap the string but also just could not get it to sound right via my phone's tuning app, hence tightening so hard I broke it). Support this amazing local business that's been around since my childhood!!! read more

Great staff and great service. I bought a guitar here- they had the exact one that I wanted in stock, and they had it on sale. I called in and put it on hold and then picked it up the same day. The staff was very helpful and they were all wearing masks and social distancing. If you can, support your local mom and pop shops like Allegro during the pandemic- if you're going to buy an instrument, consider getting it here instead of through Amazon. This man lowballs me with a straight face I could not believe it he actually offered me 5 percent of what they were actually worth. These were vintage instruments in great condition. Scratched!!! I brought in a brand new Yamaha saxophone to repair a missing cork piece, and the repairman scratched the instrument behind the key. I called the store, but they told me they can't do anything about it. Be careful when you bring in your instruments for repair. read more

Every time I come in, I have a great time because the staff is very helpful and always willing to talk about anything I have to ask them. Allegro is quite a good music store. This has been a long standing establishment in the Fremont since I was a tyke. Now I'm an old fart, so I am glad that allegro has been able to survive for so long--even in an age where the Internet makes it way too easy to download sheet music and buy instruments and equipment online. I came here to get an alto sax checked out. My friend let me borrow it so I can start learning. I have no clue on how to begin. I asked the lady in the front if someone could check it out so that I at least know it's in working condition. She led me to a back room where a guy was working on instruments. He's the repair guy. He was pretty cool in that he told me what condition the sax was in, what I needed to start learning, and, the most impressive part was that he gave me a short tutorial on how to play-- how i should assemble the reed and mouthpiece, how to blow into it, and even showed me a couple of notes. It was a nice little tutorial and I was able to go home and practice a little bit of what he taught me. Other than that, allegro has all your musical needs. I personally will go there when I need something in a hurry.. Usually I will just order it on eBay because it's cheaper. However I picked up a mic stand with the 15 for 30 dollar groupon and a few reeds for the alto as well. That groupon made my purchase a great buy. They also offer music lessons, and I might just go back for that too once I stop being poor. read more
