The staff was so kind and helped explain all the facilities and gave suggestions on which to use at what time. The treatment itself was heavenly. And all the facilities were so clean! They have a bunch of different hair/skin products to use after your treatment and they have tea, a coffee machine, water and snacks in case you're in need of some sustenance during your visit. They even have an ATM near the entrance if you forget cash for your tip, or you can Venmo/Zelle. I will 100% be coming back!

Facilities were clean and lovely, they have the spas and massage rooms on the first floor and a clay and salt room on the second floor. There is a vanity room where there are plenty of snacks and water/coffee/tea for you to rehydrate yourself with. I believe you get an hour before and after your appointment to enjoy all the amenities. And if you get the scrub highly recommend coming early and softening up your skin in the spas beforehand. I got the silverbell 1 hour message, which comes with the scrub, massage, and also a hair wash. The lady was super gentle and checked in on me whether that was the water temperature, scrub pressure or the massage strength. I thought with everything going on in this it might feel too rushed but time felt well budgeted.

I came in completely locked up from recent travel, and within ten minutes she'd pinpointed every major knot, working through them with perfect pressure and a natural rhythm. Nothing felt rushed or routine. Ninety minutes flew by, and I walked out feeling like a jellyfish. My shoulders dropped two inches, and I was completely refreshed. The last time I felt that kind of total release was after a chiropractor visit years ago. I'll definitely be requesting Violet on my next visit. I highly recommend Violet!

BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! I booked a session here hoping for relief from work-related lower back pain…read more(I'm a nurse and spend long hours on my feet). I scheduled both a foot and back massage with the expectation of therapeutic work. The "massage" felt more like someone rubbing lotion on my skin for an hour than actual therapeutic work. My 70-year-old nail technician gives better foot massages than what I received here. There was no real reflexology or massage technique. It was so bad I even stopped halfway and explained my dissatisfaction, still the lotion rubbing continued. When I expressed my dissatisfaction at checkout, the front desk staff simply shrugged, charged the full amount, with no attempt made to address my concerns or offer any resolution. If you're looking for legitimate therapeutic massage from licensed therapists, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. This place is not worth your time or money.

The therapist clearly focused on the areas I had circled on the intake chart and gave them extra attention, which I really appreciated. The bad: The front desk experience wasn't the warmest. Been feeling a bit out of sorts lately, so went to Iyara and got the Thai Aroma Massage ($110 hour)…read morewhich is a variation of Swedish Oil Massage combined with Thai deep pressure massage. I used to get the Traditional Thai or the Heat Herbal Compress, but lately my favorite is the Thai Aroma Massage (Swedish/Thai combo) because it's just the perfect combination for me in terms of pressure and technique. So I went in asking for relief of my shoulder/neck area because it was tensed from work, and came out feeling so much better. My massage therapist also worked on my back and calves which I didn't know I had a knot on one leg, so it was slightly painful, but felt relieved afterwards. I really wanted to take a 1/2 hour nap afterwards instead of get up to leave, but c'est la vie. The place is clean, staff is friendly, walk-in are welcome though I usually book/call ahead to make sure they have the time.

My masseuse was the opposite, similar to what one reviewer on here Erica said, the masseuse went through the motions. I thought she was easing into it, but it never got better. She didn't massage the shoulders, or back much at all, and spent a lot of time rubbing the body, my scalp, and putting little effort into anything, The best way to describe it was if someone was just learning to massage, or just decided to give up for the day, but she's clearly been working there for a while given she ran the front desk too. Anyways, won't be coming back, if the business knows who she is, consider firing her because she will ruin your ability to get new customers and cause friction with existing ones. It only takes one bad experience to lose business, especially with so many other options nearby and in SF.
