Their website is full of misrepresentations. The phrase of "No call out charge" on their website turned into £78 call out charge in practice; "free estimates" on their website turned into "we don't do free estimates" on the phone after they charged me and during a phone conversation regarding payment! These are the phrases used to induce customers into contracts.
For example, they claim "no call out charge and only pay for the work we do", but after they come to check the leak, they stated they needed to access to the property downstairs too, so they didn't do anything but charged me £78 for the attendance only! They took my card details and the person on the phone couldn't speak English, so the plumber took my card and told the numbers on it in another language.
For the actual leak, they had arranged a meeting with the landlady downstairs without my knowledge and had apparently done the work. That same day, they called me to demand £120 more! Only after their "plumbing services",the tenants upstairs also started complaining about not getting any heating or hot water! I asked them to resolve it, again they said they would charge extra! I said it should be urgently done, but they never turned up for four days and the tenants lived in cold conditions with no hot water. In the end, I gave up hope with them and had to book another plumber to sort out the boiler, resulting in extra costs!
Despite my attempts to contact the so said customer services dep. with poor English speaking staff to ask them to review their charges, I could not get anywhere. I told them to resolve this issue through other channels like courts. Today, I noticed that they had used the same card details and took £120 without my knowledge (unauthorised transaction).
So, do be careful and never give your card details to such companies who may take your money without your knowledge and charge any amount they like. They are not the sort of people you would like to negotiate either due to their poor language skills, no knowledge of UK contract or consumer law, with a website full of misrepresentations. As there is no regulatory body for plumbers in the UK where all plumbers have to be a member of, customers are ripped off by such companies and it is very hard to get out of situations like this.
This was a big lesson for me in terms of selecting plumbers by making sure that they are a member of an institution where there is code of practice which they have to follow.
I would not recommend them. read more
