This is something that you only tend to find in Canada in my experience and to say it was tasty would be an understatement. I have never had better Thai food, and I eat it a lot. It was even better than my local, much loved Sabai Thai in Sidney! We ate at Thaidal Zone (love the name!) yesterday on a visit to my old home town. Four of us had the mixed seafood special. They make the dishes individually, so they don't all come out at the same time, but not slow. Every ingredient was perfectly done. Each vegetable had just the right crunch. Each of the MANY fresh (clearly not frozen) seafoods was done to perfection. And the sauce!! Incredible!! I ordered mild and it had just the right bit of heat, with a taste that lingered. I didn't want to spoil it by i.e. eating a piece of chocolate for dessert. I could not eat the whole big serving and brought the rest home to enjoy for lunch. This place has gotten even better from the last time I was here. I had the Tom Ka Talay - Hot and sour soup with mixed seafood, mixed veggies, and galangal in coconut milk soup. Holy hell was this good! I asked for medium, and got a perfect medium. Spicy enough that I could feel it tingling on my tongue and lips, but not so hot that it blocked the amazing flavors underneath. Usually when I get "mixed seafood" it's a pittance. Not here though. Oysters, prawns, squid, baby octopus (or baby squid? I'm not sure the difference, scallops. Delicious and fresh, definitely not frozen. To die for. Every time I come through Powell River I eat here! Massive portions. I've never been able to finish it all! read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars for opening an authentic Thai in Powell River. It's tasty. After a few weeks without Asian food driving up the coast, it's a nice break. I didn't have high expectations but they use real Thai chili peppers and I love it spicy so hit the spot. Is it the best Thai food I've had, no, but if hankering for something with garlic, ginger, fish sauce, then, this place does a good job. I'm not even going to complain about things here. I had the lunch special that came with broth and deep fried spring roll and they had sauté with basil and vegetables with choice of meat. It was good. read more

Always eat dinner here every time I stop in Westview on our annual sailing holiday. It is close to the Marina and BC ferry dock. The patio offers a great view over to Texada and Vancouver Island. Service is friendly and reasonably quick. The food is fairly standard Thai, fresh and flavorful but not over spiced. I will be back. read more

Went here twice in one day! Lunch was so good that we returned for dinner. The Tom Yum Goong was delicious and super spicy at a level 4 spiciness. The same veggies showed up in each dish, making them seem quite similar but the flavours were spot on and tasty. The spring rolls were crispy and tasty. I would have rated this place 0 stars if I could. We were told an hour and 15min wait, we showed up at that time, and were told they hadn't started our order yet and it would be another 20 minutes. Not sure why they couldn't have called to tell us that before we got there, they didn't seem like they had any idea what was going on, and they were not even friendly, and didn't even apologize. We asked if we'd get a discount on the food if we were having to wait almost 2 hours, and they said absolutely not. So we left with no food. This is the worst customer service that I have experienced in a very long time. Will definitely never be back there. read more

Every time I visit Powell River, I have to stop in for lunch. Their Pad Thai, Swimming Rama and Gai Pad Pow are my favorite dishes. Awesome food combined quick, friendly service with a killer view of the Strait make this a great place to eat. read more

A nice casual Thai restaurant near the ferry. It's a small place, but the food is authentic, and made in a healthy way with natural ingredients and no MSG. The staff is very pleasant, but it can get busy later in the evening. Go early if you are in a hurry, but if you would like a more leisurely dining experience then hold out for a later dinner time. There were more than a few locals buying to-go food to eat on the ferry, so that's something to consider too. I've traveled in Thailand and found the food to be representitive of the region -- not "Americanized" like many Thai restaurants. Reasonably priced, and you get a lot of food. You WILL have leftovers. I'll certanly go back next time i'm in the area. read more

Horrible service. Out of 4 entrees ordered one was wrong (this was takeout), they refused to believe us and would not start cooking the replacement entree until we brought back the wrong one to prove the error. Then we had to wait while they cooked it meanwhile the rest of our diners ate without the full party present. Did I mention this was my birthday dinner? read more

This is the first place I ate in Powell River, and it reflects well upon the town. You think, "hey, this place can't be too bad if it has restaurants like this..." It's in a neat area, close to the ferries. And it's airy and beautiful inside, nice vibrant colors, light Ikea type wooden tables. The menu is not expensive (thats good!). But like a lot of Thai places, if you don't order wisely, everything starts tasting too sweet, so you might want to think about that. Their curries are wonderful. I've tried the red, yellow, and Mussamun curries and liked them all. The Lad Nar is inconsistant, sometimes it is sheer heaven, other times it is way too soupy. I love the fried rice, and the prik king tofu, which is made of green beans and tofu, in a red curry. But what I crave is their Thai Iced Tea! It's the best I've ever had. It's got a tang that is so refreshing, that it's addictive. I've read that some Thai iced tea is made with tamarind, and I wonder if that is the tangy element I'm tasting. If you're in the mood for something sweet, I recommend their banana milkshake. It's made with real bananas, has a nice rich flavor and is the perfect, slurpable consistancy. Definitely a thumbs up!
