They offer lunch specials for $9.90 even on Sundays, so with 5 dishes (one off their Street Food menu for $13.90), it was only $53.03 to feed our party of 5 travelers. Pad Thai Chicken Pad Se Ew Chicken Green Curry Chicken with Rice Cashew Nut Noodle Beef Singapore Noodle Duck $13.90 I enjoyed everything (including the company!) and was able to manage the heat level from the curry. It was a nice warm wooden space and child friendly, as we were able to obtain a high chair for the youngest member of our extended party. Monkey King is but a short walk away from the Lindfield station. Order and pay at the counter and they'll bring the food out to you in bowls as they are prepared. Good thing we were sharing family style! Cool dented metal cups were provided for the tap water.

The service is very attentive. And BYOW is an excellent frugal feature. They provide nice glasses and an ice bucket if required at $3 per person corkage. Their beer, Monkey King Pale Ale is outstanding. And happy hour from 5-7pm will let you enjoy it at $5 each. Excellent beer tasting beer and value. There are other beers on offer, same happy hour price, but I can't recall because I'm a lover of craft beer. I wish I lived in Lindfield, I'd be there 2-3 nights week during happy hour having beers and some apps. Smack down favourite is the soft shell crab, or is it the pork, or the...

I've had massaman curry from various different Thai restaurants and nothing tops the one from here. The big tender chunks of beef paired with rice is just a roller coaster of mouth watering flavours - and the coconutty taste was perfectly subtle and not prominent which I personally much prefer. Tom yum prawn was perfectly spiced with a generous amount of mushrooms.

We did a search and this was the only venue near us serving Laksa for lunch. I had always thought Laksa was purely Malaysian. But come to find out, also a southern Thai dish. And I now prefer the Thai version. It is more creamy with a rich coconut flavour than the Malay broth version with sour asam. The service was very attentive and friendly and the pricing is fantastic. Will come back again and again. You come here for the food, not the ambience. And it is BYO, so that helps get around the unassuming looks.

This little Thai restaurant has a great homely vibe to it. I've been to many a Thai restaurant that…read moreis at the forefront of what I call 'modern-orient-cutting-edge-dining-layout' that is chic and funky, but just lacks in the cuddly goodness you'd expect from a chubby Thai grandma. Thai Naan is exactly what you want on a 6 degree winter Sydney night - homely goodness and hearty Thai food - just don't sit near the front door! The food is great, and the portions are large. It's Thai as we know it, nothing over the top or trying too hard - just good quality homely food. It is slightly on the expensive side however, but the portions more than make up for it. It's also a family favourite of ours, simply due to the ease of being able to park right outside, as well as easily accommodating for 10 or more people.

The ambience is warm and inviting with very attentive and polite wait staff. The food is excellent - a little more pricy than you might be looking to pay for a low-key Friday night dinner but really worth it. My pick is the Chicken and Cashew Nut ($16). Such a classic dish but so easy to get wrong, Thai Naan get it just right. If you do decide to make a night of it then remember to book ahead. Thai Naan is a favourite with local residents and it can get very busy on a Saturday night. Otherwise take away is available but again call ahead as there is usually a twenty minute wait before you get your food.

Dark, dingy, soot-filled, with one beaten up plastic table-and-chair ensemble that wailed piteously when sat on. What it also had, however, were two intrepid chefs wearing bandannas (the sign of a serious chef. Or an unimaginative rapper), who were committed to ladling out colossal bowls of spicy Thai dishes using ingredients fresher than . . . than . . . well, daisies, I suppose. So I panicked and that last analogy suffered terribly, but my point is that now the Thai Noodle Hut has double in size (although it's still just a hole in the wall) and the decor has had an upgrade, but their commitment to the things that made them a Willoughby Rd institution haven't changed -- they're CHEAP, FRESH, and GENEROUS (none of which are words that can be used to describe my last girlfriend). Seriously, the helpings are gigantic, the ingredients are quality, and the prices! Good lord, the prices! It's almost unfair how cheap it is. The staff are friendly as all get out but they're no economists . . . their prices haven't changed since the 90's. In fact, I have no idea how they make money. I'm almost too scared to mention that we're meant to be in a recession in case they weren't aware of this and raise their prices accordingly. Do yourself a flavour and get the Tom Yum Goong spicy prawn soup. It's stuffed full of huge prawns, coriander, button mushrooms and at $10.50 it represents the best value in Australia. Other faves: sweet soy noodle, prawn with salt and pepper and chilli basil noodle.

And that is possibly the worlds best Chicken Laksa. Not kidding. This is hands down the best Laksa I have ever had and even though this is not the prettiest place in the world I have even taken business lunches here just to impress and so far they all agree - I also have the whole office on board. Seriously I do not order anything else as this is just phenomenal - if you like a medium spice noodle soup you have to try this at least once. I have paid triple the price only to say - why did I get the Laksa it could never even compare - and after one serving you will be hooked. Also do me a favor and ask about the autumn special if enough people ask I might just see it again.
