For a tiny town like Folkston, this Thai restaurant is legit! The flavors and spice levels were good (although the spice levels seemed to vary based on the dish, they didn't ask how spicy you wanted it). Many dishes are basil-heavy which I'm not used to, but that's just preference. I wish the curry dishes came with more rice, and I wish the summer roll had more tofu (and cilantro instead of basil). I also would love to see Pad Thai Curry on the menu. But overall we had a nice meal here with great service and reasonable prices, and I'd love to try more of their menu. read more

Folkston is a small town with few options that are not southern fried buffets or fast food. The lady who cuts my hair lives here and told me about this place. On my way home from a work trip, I got the opportunity to stop and try it. Near the front door, there was seating for 1 or 2, and I was certain they would put me there, but instead, they put me in a full booth. My server came right away she took my drink order and was very friendly. She actually thanked me for coming in. Her uncle is the owner. When she came back, I ordered Thai dumplings and Pana g curry. It also came with clear soup or salad with ginger dressing. I chose the salad. The salad was crisp and cold. The dumplings were out of this world, served with sauce on the side. The curry came in a large dish with rice. The spice was nice, enough heat to know it's in there but not overpowering. It always amazes me when I find great international cuisine in a small town. 12/2/2022 we visited this restaurant for a repeat time. We have been here before and loved it.. This time we brought company w. us because I bragged about it to them.... We came in about 8:15. Granted it was late, but still no excuse for poor service and food. First of all, the Sushi that we ordered was fresh and delicious. We all loved our Entre and appetizers. I ordered the dumplings as a meal and a side of fried rice. I had to send the dumplings back because they were cold, they came back hot and they were good. The rice didnt arrive and I had to ask for it twice, I wanted it w. the dumplings. When I did get the rice, it was burned, and it had the burned taste all the way through. burnt white rice w. scrambled eggs and maybe some peas is not what I called fried rice but hey?..I returned it and asked for a no charge. A little advise for our server; he needs some experience and needs to be trained properly. We had to repeat to him a few times, wait too long for certain things. The appetizer should come first allow the people to eat, then serve the dinners. We also had cocktails. He Didnt know how to make a mai tai for our guests, when google is handy....He needs to write things down so that he doesnt forget. PRE BUS and BUS the table. Who knew Folkston, GA was a foodie destination? Hubby and I stayed at Newell Lodge to tour the Folkston side of the Okefenokee. That little town was close by so we decided to try having dinner at Thai Smile instead of making the 45 minute trek into Waycross. We arrive 6.30 to 7.00 and the place is really humming. Nice decor, lots of families and a thriving take out business. The menu is Asian fusion and has lots of sushi, Japanese and Thai but we just ordered Thai during our visit. We ate in and ordered summer rolls with shrimp (very good). Ginger stir fry with pork (out of this world) and Thai salad with sliced beef (very good). We had Pino Grigio wine which went great with our dishes. Everything we had was fresh, reasonably priced and very well prepared. The inside of the restaurant is very nicely decorated and when we left there was a full line of people waiting to be seated (on a Wednesday night). read more

This is a hidden gem basically in the middle of nowhere. We stopped by on our way back to St Mary's from being at the Okefenoke Swamp all day. This is seriously the most delicious Thai restaurant I've ever been to. Our server was very kind and helpful. Not long after we sat down he brought us two delicious salads (on the house). We ordered the Spring Rolls and they were also delicious. Our meals were fantastic. I mean, I'm not sure what other words to use to describe delicious food. The rice was bland with no kind of flavoring at all. They gave more thought to dressing up the plate with a half a head of cabbage and parsley than they actually did preparing the food. This location is so cute! The decor is inviting and very comfortable- as a first impression. There were beautiful fresh flowers on every table! Our server was very friendly and attentive, too. My friend and I ordered a beer, shrimp roll, drunken noodles, and bento b box. The entrees came with a soup or salad but we were able to try both. Let me tell you- their homemade ginger dressing was delicious! I've never liked the dressing at any other Thai places- I could've drank this! My shrimp sushi was good- generous with the shrimp while I notice some places give you more tempura than shrimp. The drunken noodles were very good, too. Only complaint is I felt the veggies were a little mushy. My friend enjoyed his bento box with red curry, unfortunately he didn't really care for the sushi. He said it was a little more fishy than he's accustomed to tasting. He thought his veggies were a little soft as well. Overall it was very good, though. We would for sure come back! read more

Just like a lot of other people here have mentioned, I stopped by here for lunch right after visiting Okefenoke. The service was excellent for starters. My server was extremely friendly and even recommended a few different dishes to help me decide on what I was in the mood for. I settled for curry, and had a appetizer of thai dumplings to go with it(would definitely recommend the dumplings). The price was fair, the service was great and the food even better. What more could you ask for? I'm definitely stopping by again if I ever make my way up to Folkston. read more

I think Thai Smile is a wonderful place. I love the owner and the homeliness of the place. The food is delicious. The owner is very friendly. The decor is welcoming and the plants out front are refreshing. They are vegetarian friendly and gluten free friendly. I enjoy getting the Thai Tea and Thai Peanut Salad. My only downfall with the place is that when I first started going a year ago it was superb service and I never had an issue. I noticed some new people were hired and there was a learning curve at first but it seemed like it would still work well. BUT the last two or three times I've dined in we have had a female waitress who is new and TOTALLY bad. She lacks communication skills, she often is chatting with friends instead of waiting the tables, and has been rude to me when inquiring about just bringing us menus! With her, specifically, the service is not good. I've started doing take out myself which is disappointing because I enjoy the environment. Food 5 stars Service needs improvement read more
