I love this place! I stopped in last Sunday during a road trip and was starving. The ambiance is very nice and the wait staff were very kind. Our appetizers came quickly and our entrees a couple minutes after we devoured the starters. The portion sizes are worth the price as they are large and shared with the table. My Pad Thai was flavorful I only wished they asked me how spicy I wanted it (as most Thai places do) because there was no spice to it unfortunately. My friends garlic beef with green beans was very good and well balanced and I love the fried garlic. We were all full and were able to take some of our entrees home. This place satiated my Thai craving while in Germany. It definitely hit the spot. Food was pretty good. Portions were decent. Menu is quite large with many options. Service was really good - fast and friendly. Wonderful ambiance and environment. A German-English menu is available; plus, the staff speaks English, so it is quite helpful. I went for lunch (13:00-14:00) in the mid-week after walking around Böblingen, and it was not busy. Other parties seemed pleased with their experience. Overall, the food, although not necessarily the best I've had, was filling and satisfying. I will certainly return if in Stuttgart as my Thai cravings must be met. Would have received a higher rating, except that the dishes are somewhat overpriced, and the room temp 'still water' was €3.20 per glass. No bottle of water was provided, just two glasses filled with what could have been tap water for all I know. My first realllll food in over 7 months-but don't let my lack of culinary experience in a while fool you. This place is legitimately delicious. I ordered a Chardonnay and one of the Chicken entrees (#54-the Thai basil enticed me). The Chardonnay was top notch and the food was prepared rather quickly. The presentation definitely brought to all to a higher level. They delivered a pot of rice for the table to share-and it was perfectly prepared. Sticky-but not toooo sticky. The dishes we all ordered came out as they were prepared-and my took the longest, but not too much longer than everyone else. You could definitely taste the fish sauce in my dish-and it was pretty Laotian tasting, if that is a thing. The chicken was very fresh as well as the vegetables. The eggplant and other variety were sautéed but still crispy, giving an overall freshness to the dish that gave me life. Not the best I've ever had but seeing how My Thai obsession is limited here I will be returning. The pad Thai was okay. I prefer sweet and spicy. This was a bit bland. The duck red curry was flavorful in contrast. The bamboo shoots were Julianne rather than sliced. Odd preference, I know, but i think it makes or breaks it for Thai dishes. The duck was a bit fatty for my liking but it was tender. Everything was decently priced. It's definitely a date night kind of place. It's not your hole in the wall gem. They have menus in English that's always a plus. Overall the food was good and the drinks were average nothing really impressive. When your wife craves Thai in Germany, this is where you take her. I've been to this place twice now and although it's not 100% to what I'm accustom to with regards to the flavors I have come to expect with Thai restaurants in America, it still comes pretty close to my flavor preference. But remember, flavor profiles change regionally so if you're very picky, this might not cut it for you. We've been to this place twice in a week now and have not been disappointed. Service can get a big slow because it gets BUSY really quick and it's mostly Americans from the local base who don't speak much German. My go-to is the chicken satay and the vegetable spring rolls. The soups are on point (try the hot sour with coconut and chicken or the glass noodles with chicken). The portions for the mains are large, I can generally eat a lot, but after a couple apps split with the wife, I barely made it though my portion and she only made it through 1/4 of hers. So plan to share if you can because remember, you can always order more! I haven't tried the desserts here as we're generally really full at the end of the apps and mains, but I plan to in the near future. read more

Now, I've been to Bangkok many times and so I know what authentic Thai food should taste. And this place has real good Thai food. We ordered 5 dishes between 3 people and we finished nearly everything. Curry duck, basil beef, pad thai, chicken fried rice and some kind of garlic shrimp. This place is delicious. I went there by myself on a Sunday night and they were packed. The decor is beautiful. The menu comes in English and German. The wait staff speaks German, Chinese, and some English. I got the deep fried eggplant with shrimp appetizer. It was tender and fluffy. The sauce paired perfectly with it. I've been to Thailand back in the day so I know what is authentic. Time in-country was about 90 days. This restaurant is left of the middle when compared to Bangkok, Ubon, or Chiang Mai Thai. The sauces are very similar from dish to dish and in some instances I would say that it's a bit too salty. It's Deutschefied Thai. The ingredients are top quality, the rice is a mixture of crunchy stuff from the bottom of the rice cooker to pretty good. So, why do I keep going back? 1. The Americans are there so I get to listen to 'American Talk'. Unless you're an expat, you don't know what I'm talking about. 2. It is a very nice setting and the staff is quite pleasant. Funny thing last night, he told me 'your forgot to add tip!' In Germany it's custom not to tip or to tip alittle... 3. They speak english so it's just a relief. Deutschification is when you modify your cuisine to suit the taste of local customers. So instead of saying, 'you eat what we serve you because this is how it is served at home!!!', they instead say, 'OK, you want 5 x more meat, 1/10th the spice = no burn, 5 x salty.' read more

This used to be our favorite Thai restaurant -- for years. We don't go back because my son and I both ordered Panang Gai (chicken) that had large chunks of cartilage it in. I showed the cartilage to the owner lady. She made excuses like, "the cartilage could have gotten in there from the duck." If she had promised that it won't happen again, or made any downward adjustment to our bill, we would have returned. I haven't been back since. My son couldn't eat another bite of his Panang Gai after hitting the cartilage, and I found the cartilage in mine enough to ruin my meal. Good food, good service, an extensive menu, parking next door, and beautiful decor set around salt water aquariums (read - keep you're kids interest active)... what more could you ask for? This is just off the round-about in Böblingen near the Postplatz city entry. Easy access from the autobahn (A81) and good parking next to it. It's ten minutes from Panzer or 15 from Patch. It's a breeze to get to. Once there, the menu has more options than you probably want/need, given that it might stretch out you're decision making. Lucky for you they serve German beer. The standard Thai dishes are all there, and I've had several that are really delicious. The service is good and they are wiling to kick in some spice if you like your Thai dishes spicier than you're average Mayor of Deer Creek, Iowa. Go with feels good. Beautiful Thai decor. Being a new American in Stuttgart, I made a couple of embarrassing assumptions...1) that we wouldn't need reservations. We were accommodated nonetheless. 2) that Thai restaurants, as they do in America, serve sushi. I was sarcastically corrected by the waiter. He stated Japanese and Chinese restaurants not Thai restaurants serve sushi. Ok. No problem. As the meal progressed, the experience got better. For dinner, I had what amounted to sweet and sour shrimp, my wife seemed to enjoy the curry chicken with vegetables. All entrees were order by number (a little tacky for a wannabe upscale spot, but, hey, who am I to question? Afterall, I didn't event know Thais didn't serve sushi). All dishes were served with large family sized portions of traditional Asian sides (steamed and/or fried rice, vegetables, speciality sauces). I was particularly smitten with the peanut sauce which was served with the fried egg rolls. We skipped desert. Being new to Stuttgart we figured we'd forego the 3 or 4 traditional dessert items they offered on the menu (also order by number) and try our luck at an establishment in the hustling and bustling palace square... The bill didn't give me sticker shock but I can't say with a straight face I got what I paid for. I did leave a tip. (Hey, don't judge me) Overall, Rainbow Garden, albeit a bit pretentious, could be considered a step up from the typical all you can eat Asian buffets I'm accustomed to frequenting. When the wrong order arrived, to include a "take out" Pad Thai that was plated, we pointed it out and received an arrogant reply, "you did not tell me it was to go". After I corrected the server she walked off with the plates and ignored us until we asked about our food. Another server finally brought our food. After all this the food was mediocre. I was hopeful for some delicious Thai food but honestly I feel like I've had better. It's good but the phad Thai was not the best... #2 place out of over a dozen my coworkers and I ate at over a two week trip to Sindelfigen and Boblingen (lot of good competition btw). Nice setting inside, and thankfully was still seating tables at 9:30 (later than the German place around the corner). As someone that has been to Thailand I can stipulate this place is the real deal. The cuisine is north-central Thailand (I asked)--so less of the coastal Chinese influence/a little more Laotian in style. Our party of four shared two of the four dish platters--effectively 8 different dishes. These included duck, pork, and seafood--all prepared in distinctive sauces, with great ingredients and great presentation. Service was spot on (server was from Thailand btw). If you like spicy, ask for the spicy fish sauce (it comes in a small side dish). Warning--it is Hot. Took me straight back to the hottest thing I had in Thailand (street food--breaded sardines in red pepper sauce). I'll be back to be sure! read more

I went here for two reasons; the reviews were great and I cannot eat so much heavy German food. I was very surprised at the atmosphere and food here. While I thought it would be good, I never imagined that it would be that good, have such a LARGE menu selection, and that the restaurant was so elegantly decorated. We went there on a Wed night and it was very crowded but we did not have to wait for a table. The service was a little slow, but that is something I have come to expect for the European eating experience--nothing is quick and it is an "event." I did not see something on the menu that I would have like to have and I mentioned it to the hostess who quickly agreed that they could take care of that. That means a lot to me when the restaurant is willing to cater more to their patrons than to their menu and items they sell. The only reason I did not give Rainbow 5 stars was for the slower than average service but DO NOT let that keep you from going there. If you are tired of German food while visiting (or living) in Germany, I would highly recommend Rainbow Thai. I will go back everytime I am here in Boblingen. read more

Went here for the first time tonight. Got there right at 5:30 when it opened, with our two little girls, and no reservation (on a Saturday night). Oops. However, they seated us right away, right up front by the giant fish tank so our girls had something to look at while we ordered. Our waiter was excellent, attentive, gracious, and gave great suggestions on menu items. Our kids split the chicken fried rice. My husband had the yellow curry. I had the pad Thai. Everything was delicious and the portions were large! Our food came out quickly and was so good. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! The food and service were both excellent, but the waiter expected a bigger tip than we gave him. The bill was €65 ish for two and I handed him €80. There was an awkward pause in which I felt he expected me to say keep the change, but I didn't. We both looked at each other awkwardly, and then he walked away. I left the tip of my choosing in the bill cover...as he watched from afar. He came over shortly after I placed the bill cover back on the table and he opened the bill cover In front of us and when he saw his tip tapped it quite sharply before walking away.
