We dropped in every afternoon for the first 2 nights of our Yamba stay and didn't like the look of the fish that was on display. On day 3 we dropped in at lunchtime and spotted some fresher local flathead fillets! We ordered 3 fillets and a "small" serve of chips - this turned out to be a generous feed for my husband and I and pretty good value at $37. We did have to navigate our way around a few bones and fins, but it was worth it! On day 4 we dropped in and bought 1 kg of prawns which we had for dinner at our holiday rental that evening! They were terrific! In my opinion that's the best thing to buy there. If you do want cooked fish - I think it's better to come for lunch as all the good stuff seems to be gone by dinnertime!

Lo and behold, this place does. Unfortunately, I didn't end up trying it because I think they ran out around the time we came in (bit after lunch time). We chatted with the owner a bit, who was really friendly and told us how she was inspired by her travels to Hawaii to open this place up and offer poke. The katsu chicken was delicious. I liked the fresh salmon roll I got, but the sushi rice fell apart very easily, not like real sushi rice at all. There was complementary hot tea, although I wished there was water. (I'd asked but I think they forgot.)

Dissatisfied with the menu and whole entire place plastered in old faded pictures up the walls and windows of their "dishes" I decided to try it because there were no other options, reluctant I ordered, a "works" burger and a side of Calamari. Total cost of a burger, 6 pieces of calamari, and 600ML water bottle was $34.00. Friendly enough guy behind counter, but the crew out the back was a 14-16 year old kid, and another 8-10 year old working the kitchen, kitchen was filthy and looked very unclean. Lots of yelling and confusion each time the "owner/manager" went out the back to check on my order 3-4 times. Food when I got it was not worth the 25 minute wait or the $34.00 price tag. Let down, would not recommend anybody to eat here or have to put themselves through this.
