This year while vacationing in Montreal and staying with relatives in Longueuil, I wanted to try…read moreMadame Thai. I had seen it on previous visits, and this time we had been pretty well exposed to Quebecois food following our arrival to Longueuil, our time in Montreal, then to Trois-Rivieres, to Quebec City, and back. We were looking for something different, we enjoy Thai food in New York when it is really good, and we were hungry that day following an outing. One of our favorite restaurants where we live in Queens is an authentic Thai restaurant, so having been in Canada for eight days already, we were excited for something that was a little more familiar and without maple syrup. The menu is more akin to an Asian fusion restaurant than that of a purely That restaurant. For appetizers we ordered chicken dumplings in peanut sauce and steamed vegetable dumplings. The peanut sauced dumplings were delicious, served hot with a creamy peanut sauce that coated the dumplings and made them rich. The steamed dumplings were great too, simple with a perfectly seasoned sweet soy dipping sauce. I did order a Thai staple, sliced chicken and mixed vegetables in a ginger sauce that comes with white rice. The ginger sauce was light, a little sweet, and perfectly balanced. The dish was a perfect showcase for the better quality produce you find in Canada than in the US. The vegetables were all fresh and tasty and that was an even greater addition to the chicken and sauce. My wife and son are less adventurous than I am and what's more, neither eat or tolerate spicy food well, and my wife has a tree nut allergy (although she would concur that the peanut dumplings were great). My wife and son (9) had Thai chicken fried rice and was excellent, too. It was light and fresh yet full of flavor from well-seasoned chicken and vegetables that are stir fried before the addition of the rice. To me this seemed more like a chicken stir-fry entree that had mixed with a side order of rice at the table by us than chicken fried rice. Often, fried rice isn't good enough on its own but here it is. The portion, too, was large and it is garnished with fresh cucumbers, tomato and cilantro. The server we had, a young woman, helped us order in English and they do have an English menu. We would definitely go back and it's nice to find a non-Quebecois restaurant right in the neighborhood where we stay about 10 days out of the year on average.

This salad kiosk is located inside Place Desjardins…read more I have been to Chop Crazy so I can now compare the two. Laitue&Go uses measuring spoons for each salad topping to ensure you get the same amount of topping each time. At Chop Crazy they take some with their hands (they wear gloves thankfully). They have the measured spoons, I can see them, but they do not use them probably to use less topping to save more... So Laitue&Go get's an A+ for that. Laitue&Go gives you a bigger salad in the end and the to-go container for the dressing is bigger. The bowl is bigger than Chop Crazy; but Chop Crazy is slightly cheaper. Laitue&Go always has shredded cheddar cheese which I like on my salad. I've been to Chop Crazy twice now and they did not have it. They had other types of cheese, but not cheddar. And back to the dressing; at Chop Crazy my salad is pretty much dry by the end. I do not have this problem with the amount I get from Laitue&Go. So, all in all I think that for the little more you'll spend, Laitue&Go is the way to 'Go'. No pun intended. Har har. Thanks for reading!

I came during peak lunch hours and service was pretty quick - less than a 5 minute wait. There are two ways of ordering - either with the check-off-the-box sheets by the salad bar, so that the staff can easily put your salad together. Or, you can pick one of the pre-chosen salads which include classics like Nicoise, Ceaser and also ones with a slight twist such as Asian, Chef's salad. I went with a pre-chosen Asian salad and it came with some chicken on the top, half an avocado, some tangerines all on a bed of spinach tossed with an orange sauce. While the majority of people choose to take out their salads, there is a small seating area for around 15 people.

I…read morethink I dropped by on an off day for the restaurant where things were disorganized including the dish I received. Most likely because of the power outage they experienced an hour before my arrival. Trusting my gut feeling that this place has a good potential, visited them 3-4 times some months following my bad review and honestly was impressed on every single visit. My last discovery was their chicken noodle soup, a tad less rich in flavour than a Pho but very close and satisfying have to admit. I'll ask them if they would make this with grilled chicken to enhance the overall experience. Next soup will be with beef knowing their beef in their salad was cotton soft. I'll be a regular here from now on given their proximity to my house as well as to discover what's left to discover on their interesting tasty menu. Most importantly, a lesson learned here: Do NOT judge a place based on one visit, be it positive or negative. Things could go to either direction over time.
