Super authentic Vietnamese place in Finchley Central with a family feel…read more We ordered summer rolls and pan fried fish to start and I had a prawn papaya salad as a main. I love that the summer rolls come with the tangy dipping sauce not the weird peanut sauce that most Vietnamese restaurants seem to serve these days. The pan fried fish came with vermicelli and paper rolls so you can roll them yourself (which we completely failed at). The papaya salad was quite spicy but I liked the kick. Portions are well sized so you don't have to worry about leaving hungry. Would definitely frequent if I was a local!

LOVE! Was really in…read morethe mood for some pho and randomly spotted Vy Nam while driving through Finchley Central so decided to stop and check it out. I ran in to see if they did take aways and they did, plus the fact is smelt devine and the staff were so friendly and welcoming meant I immediately knew I was buying dinner here. Between the two of us we had a prawn pho, a beef in black bean sauce and a noodle dish with chicken plus some summer rolls (yes, we're pigs!) They packed everything up beautifully (beware the pho, it does spill very easily as my poor flip-flopped foot found out in the car) and away we went. I'll admit it was very late by the time we got home and I wolfed my food down at the speed of light, but everything was as delicious as I knew it'd be. This will now be my number one stop for good Vietnamese food in north London!

I'll just go dish-by-dish here: - The Steamed buns with BBQ pork filling were listed as being filled with "pork wing". That terrified me a little, but not enough to keep me from ordering. I can now confirm that pigs have succulent and saucy wings that go well with the somewhat dense, homemade steam buns. 4/5 - The Prawn Toast was very nice. Not too greasy, but not as good as some places around here. 4/5 - I wasn't excited about the shumai, but I haven't really liked any shumai since returning to the UK. Too many chewy/fatty bits inside for my taste. 1/5 - The pineapple and shrimp fried rice was excessively bland. No flavor to the shrimp, and very little in the way of seasoning. 1/5 - Shrimp crackers were yummy. More flavorful and fresher than any other take-out places around here. 4/5 - Beef with black bean sauce. Pretty watery, not great. 2/5 - Mee Goreng was bland. 2/5 So maybe stick with the Dim Sum, or have some sauce or spices ready to season your food a little extra, and you'll be alright here. Compared with most Chinese places around here, this was a little on the mediocre side, but I'd try it again.

It was tasty enough but teeny for the price. I did not return. Now they've re-opened and I thought I'd give it another go and try some of their frozen yogurt advertised for £3.50 on the board. I was told the price was now £4.25 (over 20% increase, why?!). When the tub arrived it was small. With ample restaurant choices in the neighborhood that don't bilk customers out of their hard-earned money, I will not be giving this spot a third try, despite the staff being friendly (to be fair).
