Chargrill Charlie's is a family owned business that has been operating for over 30 years. Beginning…read morein Coogee, they've branched out and although no longer in Coogee, they've got 11 venues across Sydney and open 7 days a week. We visited our closest store, the Woollahra venue. It is both a dine in and takeaway venue and they are always super busy. This is testament to just how good the food is. At first it might look like your typical charcoal chicken shop, but it is much more than that with amazing salads, veggies, burgers and desserts and it will have you salivating for more. From the charcoal grill, their chickens do not have hormone injections and they are beautifully chargrilled, and seasoned with herbs and spices or marinated with Portuguese flavours. Of course it wouldn't be the perfect meal without fries. You can get their nicely seasoned French fries chips or their famous hand cut potato wedges or sweet potato wedges. We tried them all and can't choose our favourite They use the freshest of ingredients and seasonal produce to make their famous salads, made in house everyday. They will suit a range of crowds and we tried the poke salad, Buddha salad and roasted cauliflower. The Golden quinoa salad was also an absolute winner. There's a hot menu with a lot of choice - from baked salmon, chicken drumsticks, meatballs and curry to casseroles and Lentils. We had the amazing lamb shanks and mixed roasted vegetables and they were a great accompaniment. As we were here for a huge spread, we both got a burger, the chicken and also a cheeseburger. Free range chicken and grass fed beef, fresh butter lettuce, sliced tomato, onion, secret sauce on a milk bun - these were delicious - and huge! We tried the piri piri sauce and lemon and herb dressing which we also enjoyed. They have sweets and desserts too, and although we didn't try, because we were full; the home made apple pie looks like a winner. Chargrill Charlie's does catering as well if you're keen to order a bunch of food for your office meeting, picnics or even private functions. When you arrive it may appear slightly overwhelming with so many people trying to get the Chargrill Charlie's fix. But don't fret, the service is easy. Take a number and wait your turn, service is extremely fast. They also have an app where you can earn store credit and even purchase Chargrill Charlie's hoodies, hats and bags to feel like a part of the team.

Want to dine out like a star? Then come to Chargrill Charlies! This casual take-away chicken and…read morerice and salad joint is - and the whole thing is kind of hilarious - "Celebrity Central" as evidenced by the photos along the wall with pictures of movie stars and talk show shosts dropping in (Oprah! Hugh Jackman! Russell Crowe!) which, who knows, maybe gives it a bit of food industry-cred. But nevermind the celebrities (really, don't mind them) because the food is what everyone is there for (ostensibly, because, again, who knows?). It's cheap, quick grab-and-go food. You can get a quarter or half chicken and be on your way or put a bun between the chicken with lettuce and tomatoes to make a chicken burger or you can put it in a long roll or you can get the Indonesian rice with chicken schnitzel or get a half chicken or a whole chicken with wanton salad or avocado salad or pesto pasta or roasted potatoes. Whatever you want. Take note, though, there are only a total of about 4 seats here so make other arrangements for seating if you can. And take a number if it's busy. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Seriously this is like the 3rd fried chicken shop to open in Sydney the past month…read more From the minds of the guys behind Mr. Crackles which did everything pork, comes Thirsty Bird, their take on most everything chicken. This place is pretty much a takeaway only shop with only 5 stools to sit on. The specialty here is the Southern style fried chicken, which originated from the South in the US and means it's marinaded in buttermilk. Delicious. 3 pieces for $12 with a sauce or 8 for $25 and two sauces which is a pretty good deal. You can also opt for a meal which is 2 pieces and a side and a sauce for $13. Sides vary from waffle fries, bacon mac & cheese, and mash and gravy. The Thirsty Burgers though, may be where it's at, with a choice of Southern, Club, Katsu, or Yankee. I went for the Southern and this burger is freaking huge...it's not really a burger since it's on a long sandwich roll from Barby's but it's a two hander for sure. For bang for buck it's tough to beat this one for $12, but I will say while I do enjoy this one, I think I might enjoy Juicy Lucy and Butter's versions just a little more. The Southern tasted kind of like a gourmet version of Burger King's Chicken Sandwich...which is delicious but not available in Australia so I guess I can't give a proper example. The biggest knock here is how long it takes to get your food when they're busy. It took about 15 minutes, and this place is supposed to be fast food. Either way definitely worth a visit if you're in the area

The chicken nuggets (with blue cheese sauce) are always succulent and more than enough for one person. I've tried a couple of the burgers which are a good size and very tasty. The Southern Burger never disappoints. The seasoning on the chicken is not as good as the Colonel's but I can understand why this place is always busy. There are a few stools to eat at the bar but this is essentially a takeaway joint.

Its pint sized interior is deceiving though, for there is nothing but big heart and ample options for a delicious feed on the hoof. Surely, there can be fewer nobler challenges than trying each and every signature Sabbaba pita roll over a period of time. Such is the allure for a falafel lover of the sight of 20 odd different types of falafels, each inspired by a place. The Tunisian is an absolute winner especially if you're a fan of chilli, sweet potato and babaganoush. Sabbaba Bondi Junction is welcoming, warm and maintains that slightly hip feel of its bigger Bondi Beach sibling. There is always a funky tune on the go and some friendly faces to help you out. It's the kind of place where you could easily lose a few hours reading a newspaper or playing a game of backgammon - if you manage to grab one of the few available seats. If it's just some great, good value takeaway food you're interested in, you'll have one of the best falafels in town in your hand in no time at all. Oh, and the coffee is great too.

FOOD Given practically everyone that worked there was Asian I opted for the Asian burger. Teriyaki Chicken Burger with Wasabi Mayo, Pineapple and Pickled Ginger. ($10.50) When eating Teriyaki Chicken you don't normally put wasabi/mayo/wasabi mayo on it. Well I don't anyway. Wasabi and pickled ginger are usually reserved for sushi not teriyaki. On this occasion it seemed to work though! Pineapple was a bit iffy though. Not very Japanese like. Good serving of Peri-Peri sauce with my small chips ($3). Nice and spicy. Some of the chips unfortunately spent a little too long in the deep fryer for my liking. I'm picky with chips. These were unfortunately not the perfect balance of crispy on the outside soft on the inside. OVERALL Decent burger place. Was debating between a 3/4 star during my meal. Last minute save by the delivery boy. As I left I saw him hop on one of their awesomely decorated delivery bikes. http://www.yelp.com.au/biz_photos/7Dp_kuCO295Neo2oRxjuoA?select=ta7XzREoxqKSIsror7Q5Gw#ta7XzREoxqKSIsror7Q5Gw Love the environmentally friendly nature of the delivery.
