Mom-and-pop BBQ joint right on Eglin Pkwy with exactly the vibe you'd expect from the outside. We ordered brisket, ribs and brisket queso, plus a lineup of sides: mac & cheese, baked beans, potato salad, fried okra and smoked cabbage. Heads up though. The mac & cheese has a little kick from what looks like pepper jack cheese, so if spice isn't your thing, proceed with caution. Everything was packed with flavor and absolutely worth ordering again. Portions were good -- perfect for one person, or for sharing if you're feeling generous and not that hungry. Service was good, just a little . . . memorable. Ordering felt slightly awkward when the guy helping us dropped some casual profanity while ringing us up. That said, he was genuinely kind, so it balanced out. It's a quick-serve setup, and we had our food in under 10 minutes, which is always a win. The menu is handwritten on whiteboards above the register. We don't drink, but apparently there's free beer in coolers by the register, which feels like a bold and generous choice. May be a touch pricey if you're not drinking, but what isn't these days? The place was clean and smelled like BBQ. Exactly what you want when you walk into this kind of establishment. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for good, no-frills, local BBQ. read more

Best barbecue ever such good brisket best Cajun Mac and cheese such good service honestly this is the best barbecue 5 stars

I'm calling bs on the bad reviews here. This food is so good. We had just about every meat and side between everyone in our group. The service was friendly. The portions were big. The sauces were excellent. Nothing wrong at all. It's not a bargain. It's quality from scratch. If you like BBQ, I highly recommend it! read more

I have lived here for 32 years. I took a look at the menu and shook my head. The prices are very high for this area. I hate to say this, but there is no way that you will be successful here. You may have great food, but these prices are definitely not sustainable. read more

Good Texas BBQ, has wonderful rolls and the brisket was delicious. Still figuring out the service a little, but has that true Texas BBQ dive feel, the owner has a great sarcasm sense of humor and the staff is helpful. The BBQ sauce is good, the place is bright and open and was generally a good time. read more

LEGIT TEXAS Brisket and Burnt ends! The "Bacon ends" were phenomenal! Ribs were pull off tender, with a well balanced rub, and Smoked exceptionally well. Make sure to try their in house sauce! The meat doesn't NEED it, but boy does it open up your tastebuds! Order Ala Carte if you want MORE Meat! (Lesson learned) ;) It wasn't very busy, considering the quality of the BBQ! Am I missing something here? REAL Texas BBQ in a Military Town, I would expect this place to be PACKED! HK read more

Texas Underground BBQ - Dry Rub Ribs and Burnt Ends. House Sauce pairs perfectly - Barbeque Near Me - Fort Walton Beach, Florida

I stopped by for lunch a couple days ago. I can't comment on the BBQ since I only ordered loaded nachos, it had spicy sausage which was fine, the portion was large, but the chips were drenched in white queso sauce. Like stadium nachos. They offered free beer from a cooler on the floor. The ice was melted and the beer was warm, couldn't drink it. Also went into ladies room but it was nasty and left without using the facility. All the tables were still covered with trash from previous customers. Maybe they were shorthanded that day. I won't be back. The lights were out and it was too warm in there. I was not impressed. read more

Legit bbq! Got the 3 meat and 2 sides plate. Ribs, burnt ends, and brisket. Cajun mac and smoked cabbage. The lady at the cash register was really nice and gave great suggestions! We got our brisket moist. So much smoky meaty goodness. Clean bright atmosphere. We will be back for sure!! read more

We've just returned to Texas Underground, and I want to update the review. They've been around now for a while, and I'm happy to report that the food is excellent and a good value, the service conscientious and cheerful, and the kitchen quick. The house-made BBQ sauces are delicious. Highly recommend. read more

Has the sausage with smoked cabbage side. Decent enough. Little on the high side price for eating from styrofoam. Probably won't rush back but you might like it. Clearly enough and easy parking. read more

These people definitely aren't invited to the cookout, never eaten more unseasoned brisket or Mac and cheese in my entire life. the place looks like someone renovated their home into a restaurant. If a health inspector showed up tomorrow I don't think they would pass inspection. Also takes super long, even for takeout ordered ahead. Almost 50$ for two people too! read more

Awesome Texas BBQ. My wife and I ordered two different meals and both were amazing. I noticed several customers licking their chops as if greatly satisfied. Having only been open a month--I believe they have a 5-star future. Great food and super friendly staff. read more

Very friendly staff. We asked about the brisket and were told we wanted the moist. We also tried the burnt ends, sausage and Cajun mac-n-cheese. All delicious and the fries were just right, hot and crispy! Easy access parking and beautiful cedar tables. Definitely going back soon! Gene R. Niceville, FL read more

Brisket as dry as the desert, ribs and sausage no smoke or flavor at all. Baked beans were good as well as the smoked cabbage. Unorganized service and follow ups. Took the leftovers home for the wife to try and she confirmed, 2.3 out of 5 stars. Wouldn't recommend for the price, $33 plus! read more

Lady's Meal was the perfect size, meat, side and drink. I got the burnt ends and Cole slaw which were both tasty. We'll be back again for lunch! read more

The prices are ridiculous. $100 for 4 sandwiches/ fries/drink. Anyone that goes there has more money than sense.

It was December 26, 2025 and I was just leaving work a few minutes after 7:00 pm and I was just talking to my co-worker about sausage. So, as I left to go home I began to think about what to eat. I decided on Underground Texas BBQ as it was just down the street and I was feening for some sausage. This would be my second stop at this restaurant. As I walked in, the owner Duane immediately greeted me and informed me that they had just closed for the evening. He was very apologetic. I was shocked but we kept up the repartee for a few minutes more until out of the blue, the owner ordered the young man behind the counter to grab a rack of ribs, sausage and about 4 different sides, packaged it all up and said it was complimentary for the inconvenience. I tipped the wait staff $20 and I left. Of course it was delish. These folks totally care and "Supports the Military". So, go get ya some great BBQ. Thank You very much UTBBQ. Grand Opening 11/4/2025. Team overcame computer issues as a line of customers waited but eventually got everyone served. Very chaotic but the food smelled so good. Inside was newly renovated and clean. Can't wait to see this place once fully established! read more

Just eat there.., ( first time). I had the Ribs, with Cold Slaw, Bake Beans. It was very good. Service was good as well. Owner ( I'm guessing) came around to every table. I will be back. read more

Hands down the best barbecue restaurant in the Fort Walton/Navarre/Pensacola area! The staff is friendly which sadly is a rarity in this area. They all act as if they want you to come back; that they care about having your business. The food is awesome (based on my personal opinion and those of my friends who are typically with me)! I keep saying I'm going to try something different each time; however, how does one pass up the burnt pork ends and cabbage! Okay, maybe next trip...... read more

Yall, don't sleep on this place. Just had lunch here and got to sit and talk to Dwayne (owner) for a bit. This is the best place for bar b q in the panhandle. Prices are amazing for the quality of food. If you ain't been here yet you do not know what you're missing, stop missing out and go try it. This is now a weekly stop for me for lunch.Twice weekly if I can convince my wife to come back for dinner. read more

I have eaten some really good Texas barbecue before, I would not describe theirs as being average. Portions were small, quite frankly very little smoked taste nor seasoning. Barbecue slaw was great, pinto beans are OK. Sausage was good, pulled pork was OK. Brisket was cooked. Good nice and moist. Just a little bland for my taste. Employees were very friendly and accommodating. We'll try it again. read more

Amazing meats and great sides. Well done... Friendly staff with a plethoria of BBQ knowledge. Great family atmosphere.

Small portions. Couldn't believe the small amount of brisk in my meal wasn't even enough to make a small sandwich. Not worth the price.
