I let my 17 year old son get his pilot license during his senior year of high school (2017-2018…read moreschool year). I did a lot of research on flight schools before deciding on AAoA. Virgil invited me, my wife, and my son to meet with him. What impressed me was not that Virgil answered all of our questions and carefully explained everything we were getting into, but that he focused a lot of time on my son, asking him questions and probing his interest and maturity. I came away from our meeting feeling very comfortable placing the life of my son in his hands. My feelings were not misplaced. During my sons instruction, Virgil and his flight instructors were patient, personable, and thorough. Today, my son is college sophomore at LeTourneau University flight program. He is working towards his commercial license, flying on the precision flight team, and has already been hired by an airline. Austin Academy of Aviation played a big part in my sons future.

He promptly answered my emails and set up an account & appointment. Due to inclement weather, Enrique was unable to make the flight on his actual birthday but after a few emails with Jeff & Mike (his original flight instructor) they managed to move some things around and set him up the following morning with his flight. His new instructor, Xavier was awesome. He answered questions we had and truly gave my love an amazing flight, instruction & experience. The weather was beautiful and it made for an even better flight. I was so happy to hear all that my love learned and experienced before and during his flight. Thank you AAoA for such an awesome flight. We will definitely be back! I want him to get his pilots license.

I started with my instrument and it took 11 months to finish the rest of my ratings! The program is well designed and is structured in a great way for students to achieve success! The instructors here are very genuine, care about your success, and have lots of knowledge and wisdom to pass onto their students. The student community has also been one of the most important aspects of my time here at Coast. Students make groups and study quite often, which has contributed greatly to my success in this fast paced program.

This is due to the false advertisement and implication of a "guaranteed" flight instructor position after completion of the program. Over half of the graduates were turned loose and given the cold shoulder after completion of the program. The school really only cares about money and will do anything necessary to get increase profits, including removing instructor benefits (cancellation pay), denying any time off requests, up charging cancellation fees, and kicking out lots of students to bring in new unsuspecting naïve students. Not to mention most of the people that get kicked out are minorities and women. For private alone they charge up to 40-60k for students without including that information in any of their contracts. They push students through the program faster than they are ready and instructors past safety and weather requirements resulting in multiple accidents and incidents. The school urges you to take out at least 100k for their school and 100% of their students have passed the budget way before finishing causing them to either self finance or get kicked out resulting in you paying your loans 3 months after instead of the promised 3 years or grace period. Lastly, Coast treats their program like a part 141 with stage checks, strict scheduling, and a fast paced curriculum, but only offers part 61 training for students. All the BS with none of the benefits. All these problems stem from terrible management and a team of so-called professionals that have no piloting or aviation experience, other than sitting behind a desk. This is just the tip of the iceberg in horrendous things that go on at coast academy. In summary, this school is one of the biggest scams with instructors and students all hating the school.

I got instructor Tylor who failed to do proper procedures/aircraft briefing and I had to file complaint with the office. The office used it against me despite having all the facts/witness presented to them regarding what happened. (With over 700 hours total flight time). If you will have a problem with this school don't dare to speak up because you be the blame and it will be used against you :( I did have aircraft check outs done previously and instructors did proper job to make you familiar and comfortable with aircraft , but not at this school. I also asked twice to give me a call to discuss the situation and they would avoid communication and wont give me a chance with another instructor/aircraft either. Also Aircraft Cessna N904CP this school used to do the check out some of the equipment did not work at all, pilot door wont open to get out from the aircraft(HAZARD), Radio on Com2 is a problem and you cannot hear controllers or be able to communicate at all. I began in March 2020 and notified them in July 2021 I was withdrawing from school and need my loan refunded. it's now been close to 18 months and I have received only 2 partial refunds during that time that have still not added up to my total amount. I have a signed contract with the company stating this would all occur within a month. The CEO, who lives in Singapore, lies and lies and lies and lies to me in every email that he's "gracious" enough to reply to. It typically takes anywhere from 3-5 emails for him to reply to one. How any company puts the CEO in charge of refunds is incredible. Please review the Better Business Bureau website, before you choose to do business with these crooks. There are numerous other examples of people waiting extensively on refunds. They have said they will cover all the interest that has accrued on my loan since I notified them almost 18 months ago, but I have my doubts. Better to save your time, and immediately send them a letter from a lawyer.

The facility and every thing exceeded my expectations. I received the lesson as a gift. It became necessary for me to postpone my lesson, I phoned them, and the staff was most understanding and accommodated me, no problem. My instructor, Jade, was very thorough, and explained everything in plain English. I was at the controls and flying within seconds after takeoff. Communication was absolutely normal with the headsets. What a great gift, I'd call it a "once in a lifetime" experience that I'm looking forward to repeating.

We arrived a bit early and Lillian quickly whipped us up a welcome cocktail which she called "A Walk in the Garden". It was a prosecco based cocktail and absolutely delicious (and pretty). While we enjoyed this cocktail and looked around the shop... she prepared the workshop space for the lesson. The birthday girl had been given a list of cocktails in advance and was able to select the ones she wanted to learn how to make (she selected the Blackberry Smash & Bee's Knees). One thing I loved about this class is that Lillian gave options with each cocktail so that everyone would end up with a drink they loved. For example, if you don't like bourbon which is typically in a Bee's Knees... you could use gin instead! Then we had the options to make it spicy/sweet/herbal/ etc. By the end of the class... we all had different and personalized cocktails. In addition to the cocktails, Lillian prepared a large bowl of popcorn with specialty seasonings and showed us some of the fun tools that can be used for different prep methods. We also had downtime between making each drink to enjoy them and chat amongst ourselves. This class made for the perfect outing... we're already talking about doing another for the next girl's weekend. I cannot recommend this class enough and will absolutely be back!

I was doing a birthday weekend with friends in Boerne and came across Assemble Cocktail via Visit Boerne. I booked a private Tiki session for 7 of us and it was the perfect way to celebrate with friends. If there's only one or two of you, you can book an open session that's available. We made Mai Tais and Painkillers - both were delicious. Since I had a couple of folks who were preggo, I notified Lillian and she made sure to have two setups with zero-proof "spirits." Lillian was a great teacher and host. She has aprons and leis so the vibes were perfect. The location is a cute bungalow tucked behind another business on Main Street (kind of easy to miss if you're looking for it right on Main Street). The business started at the beginning of the year, so it's fairly new, but add it to your list of things to do if you're in the Boerne area!
