This place was a nightmare for my husband. He went in to get help getting off pain medication that was prescribed by a Dr. after he had his 4th and 5th back surgeries. Unfortunately, these medications were opioids of strong nature. We researched prior to him going in on him going cold turkey and everything we researched stated that going cold turkey was dangerous. So that is why my husband went in so he could be monitored and get off them safely. He had some withdrawals due to being on them for a couple of years. This facility should of used some kind of pain relief for him as the Dr. that prescribed these medications said he would need to take to control the symptoms of the dependency he had which included flu- like symptoms, painful joint pain, headaches, sleeplessness and severe pain in his back. This facility was by far the most horrific facility in Texas. They did not monitor him as he should of been and when asked for some relief from his symptoms he was given OTC Tylenol and often had to ask multiple times before he got it and of course didn't help. They wake you up at odd hours of the night at times just to get a urine sample, which could of waited till morning. Some days he asked for Tylenol in the morning and didn't receive any until the evening, so he suffered all day long and be expected to attend classes throughout the day.
The food that is served there is worse than what is given to inmates in jail. He actually got diarrhea for days after the second meal there. He stated the meat had a grayish tint to it and smelled bad.
When you first go in to get help voluntarily they have the front office which is deceiving from the rest of the facility. The beds don't even have box springs, but rather just a thin mattress on springs, similar to a hospital bed but worse. The restrooms you share with 3 other people are nasty and the living area was very stinky, as before I left I asked to use the restroom and it was in the area where the patients eat, have meetings and spend their spare time. Smoking breaks are promised on a set schedule, however they don't go by the schedule at all. There when the staff feels like going.
If you want help do not go to this facility because my husband stayed only a few days and came out worse then when he went in and lost 8 pounds from not being given food that is somewhat edible.
I feel bad our insurance has to pay for awful care. read more
