After taking a week to get back to us due to someone being in vacation. They called us and set an appt for early in a Monday. After we drive an hour to get there, there was no appt and the person who set it was out of office again. We say waiting for someone to get us in and nothing. Wasted our day. Just what you want when fighting a major disease never was seen. read more

my Hemotologist is fantastic. The men and women who take your blood are quick, painless and professional. The check out group are the worst. They spend a lot of time talking to each other and walking around. Check out takes more time than blood draw or seeing the dr. Please fix this problem, read more

I guess I just got lucky with my first visit. Checked in at kiosk and before I could look for a seat my name was called. From start to finish wait time was minimal. During my bone marrow biopsy I was attended by the most caring and competent NPs and MAs. The level of professionalism and politeness was like nothing I had ever experienced in my life (78 yrs old)! Special thanks to NP Leslie, NP Ruth, MA Irina and Lab tech Bree. Thanks Ladies! You made my day! read more

On July 20, I contacted Texas Oncology, located at 2130 NE Loop 410, Suite 100, San Antonio, Texas, at (210) 598-4300, after receiving a Community Care referral authorization from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The VA referral letter instructed me to contact your office to schedule a new-patient appointment. The document provided only a VA referral number, your office address, and your telephone number. It did not identify a specific physician. At approximately 9:55 a.m., on July 20, I spoke with a customer service representative who identified herself as Esmeralda. I informed her that I had received a Community Care VA referral directing me to schedule an appointment with Texas Oncology. She repeatedly asked me to provide the name of the Texas Oncology physician to whom I had been referred. I explained that the VA referral letter did not identify a physician and that the only information I had was the VA referral number, the office address, and telephone number. Despite explaining this to Ms. Esmeralda on three separate occasions, she continued asking me for the physician's name. After being asked the same question repeatedly, I became understandably frustrated. Ms. Esmeralda stated that she understood why I was frustrated. I responded that if she truly understood, she would not continue asking me for information that I had already explained several times I did not have. Rather than attempting to verify my referral using the VA referral number, or transfer me to someone who could assist, she stated, "I am going to hang up. Bye," and deliberately disconnected the call. I found her conduct to be childish and highly unprofessional. Hanging up on a patient--particularly one attempting to schedule medical care through a VA referral--is unacceptable and falls well below the level of professionalism, courtesy, and customer service that patients should reasonably expect. read more

Wait time is terrible. Come to find out they schedule lab work an hour before your appointment which still makes no sense for the long wait time. Appointment at 1230, told to be here at 12. Blood work done at 12 it's 245 and we are stilll waiting to see the dr. Completely unacceptable. Here with an aging, dementia, diabetic parent waiting this long is totally ridiculous. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. If you don't care about your health, enjoy waiting hours past your appointment time to be seen and are fine with waiting weeks and weeks for cancer results then this is the place for you. I had a follow up appointment with a Dr. here after having a biopsy in the hospital. The check in process is impersonal and akin to waiting at a deli. You take a number and wait to be called, once called you'll be checked in by someone who won't bother to look up from their screen and then be told to go to a different waiting area assigned by pictures. From here I waited 2 hours past my appointment time to be seen, when the Dr finally did come in he let me know the results of my biopsy weren't available and the appointment would have to be rescheduled (for a second fee). At the second visit, again hours after my scheduled appointment time, the Dr simply came in and read from a report. He was visibly frustrated by my questions and dismissive of my concerns. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone dealing with something as devastating as cancer. read more

Currently at this location and discussed the processes on how this office is ran with the doctor. This was an absolute terrible experience for someone with hearing issues. Multiple people saying names at the same time with a very large and filled waiting room is atrocious. I feel they run you through from one waiting room to the next one while you wait at least an hour. I very much like my doctor and asked if he worked at another location. Edit to the review. Finally left the office after being there for 2 1/2 hours for a routine appointment. I have called my insurance company to find another doctor (even though I do like the current doctor). The office is ran more as a business, filing in as many people they can rather than treating the person. I will not be returning read more

The nurses and staff at this location were wonderful. They were very kind and professional. I did not feel the same level of care from the doctor. I felt so bad, I just wanted to run out of the office after he explained surgery to me. Not a good bedside manner at all. I prefer to focus on the positive experience with the nurses and staff. read more

I was diagnosed with a lung mass in March. Saw 2 Doctors Dr. Tipirneni very nice Dr. He explained to my son & I what the CT scan showed & ordered 2 scans for me to have done & wanted to see me in 2 weeks after I had the scans done for the results, well they gave me an appointment for 4/27 & a referral to a pulmonologist Dr. Artiles that was supposed to be done stat. Which hasn't happened. First they wouldn't schedule the appt because they said I wasn't in the system, then they had given me the wrong contact information. His office either doesn't answer the phone or when they do they don't know what the right hand or the left hand are doing. This doctor was supposed to see me within 2 weeks to check why I've had this cough & wheezing since December & also perform a biopsy. Well this stat request finally got scheduled for 4/30th only to find out it's a consult only. Then I saw Dr. Afolayan who explained to my son & I that he was sending a video of my CT scan & the referral to the pulmonologist stat to do a biopsy to be done in 2 weeks & he would see me in 10 days.(he was going to schedule the appt himself with Dr. Artiles.). Well he didn't do either of these things. Then he stated that he would decide what treatment would be required. I stated that I did not want any treatment because I didn't think my body & immune system could handle it. He stated that treatments are less evasive and asked me to let him help me & for me not to turn the treatment down. Well I'm still waiting for the help he offered & he hasn't done anything for me. What was supposed to to be 2 weeks has ended up being the end of the month. Nothing has been done since I saw these Dr's on March 25th. I am so frustrated & just want to give up since I feel like I'm just another number & am waiting for a death sentence. I've gotten no feedback because of course there isn't any. I am really dissatisfied & disappointed with this group, & am just getting worse by the day. read more

So disappointed as this appt could have been virtual. Appt was at 12, got here 1150. Waited and waited. At 1pm i asked how much longer and they said i was next. And 2pm i asked again and was moved into a room shortly after. My vitals were taken and then i waited again. At this point i feel nauseous and dizzy because i am 23 weeks pregnant and so hungry. Basically Dr saw me said they need put an order for iron in which will take two weeks for me to start. so now just waiting again to schedule my follow up appt to start transfusions in two weeks. Pointless appt that could have been virtual so i could be present with my family. read more

I don't know why it shows the review as San Francisco. This is the facility located in San Antonio, TX. I have been a patient at Texas Oncology for over 2 years. Most recently, I tried to get in touch with them to schedule an appointment that was urgent. I sent an email and was told it would be forwarded to "Sherry" the scheduler. I heard nothing back. I called myself and was told that a scheduler would call me back by the end of the day...and nothing. I even explained to "Sherry" how important it was for me to get an appointment. This went on for 3 days and I have yet to receive a call from the scheduler. I went to Texas Oncology and was told the schedulers are now working from home. They may be at home but they are definitely not working. This is definitely not good practice, especially when dealing with cancer patients. read more

I had an emergency appendectomy performed by one of these Dr's. Post op I developed an infection in 2 of the sites. Took days for a DR call me back and prescribe more antibiotics. Again on the phone now trying to get helped and it's been 15 minutes with no one that can schedule me. The care here is non existent. Can't imagine gong through this with cancer read more

I began my journey at Texas Oncology in August 2023 and continue to receive care there today. I was blessed to be referred to Dr. Shruti Sharma by my family practitioner. Dr. Sharma is personable, she is honest and she is a great listener. She has been supportive throughout my journey and continues to have a genuine concern for my health and well-being. She has a great disposition, and she never makes you feel like she is in a hurry. I went from seeing Dr. Sharma bi-weekly to weekly therefore, my comments are based on multiple interactions with her. She is passionate, extremely thorough in her explanations and she always has the patient's best interest in mind. I cannot say enough about Dr. Sharma and without hesitation would recommend her to those that may need medical care for breast cancer. I have also been under the care of Dr. Alfredo Santillan-Gomez. Dr. Santillan is also very personable and has always taken to the time to explain his recommendations included in my treatment plan. Dr. Santillan is extremely knowledgeable about breast cancer and takes the time to explain what surgical procedure is the best option and follows up to see how things are going in the process. I too, would highly recommend Dr. Santillan. He is professional, kind and he has a sense of humor which is so welcome during a cancer journey. Hats off to all the nurses that work in the Infusion Room. I have had most of them assist with me with either my chemotherapy treatments or to administer my injections and all of them have been very caring. They demonstrate a genuine concern and do a great job verifying your treatment medications and they always explain share what they are administering prior to each medication. I feel confident in their abilities and appreciate their hard work and dedication. Let's not forget about all the phlebotomists that work at Texas Oncology. They are experts and have been very pleasant to work with. Great job! I also want to recognize the hard-working ladies that check you in when you arrive to the clinic. The establishment gets busy but they always greet you with a smile and some will know you by name. read more

First impressions: This place is HUGE; cancer is Big Business. Like the picture shows, you take a number as you enter, and they have five windows to process you through from the front waiting room to your next location, which in our case was a second waiting room somewhere back in the vastness. Finally, we were taken to an exam room, where we waited again for the surgeon who performed my husband's surgery to remove a skin cancer. Our total time, including the ten minutes we were early, was about thirty minutes. Not bad, considering the gravity of a visit to a cancer center. Everyone here is very businesslike, without being curt or impolite. The waiting areas are fairly comfortable. I just can't find it in myself to give five stars - only because it is what it is. read more

Don't book multiple appointments for the same doctor at the same time. Still sitting here over an hour later. Other patients who got here after I arrived were called back before I was for the same doctor. Reception was great, phlebotomy was great. Nursing and doctor could definitely use some work. Not impressed at all and most likely will not come back. read more

The operators answering calls for appointments, and perhaps the standard process to schedule an appointment are inefficient. I don't know what was the reasoning for converting the a simple and straightforward process into a multi-step and lengthy one. It was not designed thinking on the customers (patients) for sure. On top of that, the operators limit only to repeat what one needs to submit to eventually, in 2 or 3 days, if lucky, get a call back from the mighty schedulers. Whoever is the Admin of that office is focusing on the wrong metrics. They should focus on reducing the time to fulfill the customer needs. E.g. time to setup an appointment. It should take more than 15 minutes, not 3 days (or more). And if you one to reschedule, that's a nightmare too. My doctor is a great Doctor though, and I wish I could see him in a different clinic. Train the operators to be schedulers. read more

This is a serious issue which needs to be addressed immediately. Ttying to get a scheduler to call you back is nearly impossible. You are always told someone will call you back by the end of the day and of course they never call you back. Dealing with cancer is extremely stress so to add more stress on a patient is really sad. In order to work in this type of field you need compassion. If these schedulers are working from home, they really need to be monitored. I see several complaints in this forum about the schedulers but it doesn't appear anything is being done to alleviate the problem...where is upper management? read more

I am giving it a one star because I have to rate in order to allow me to leave review. I would like to begin by stating I am in healthcare myself and the way patients are treated by staff is horrible and disgusting! The amount of attitude that I have experienced with staff is unacceptable! The Dr. is great kudos to him for sticking in such a horrible work environment. I suggest that HR do deeper research into who it is they are hiring and provide employees with a class in etiquette, empathy, and customer service because the need it. My last conversation with Irene was very rude, I was just calling to ask about a scheduled appointment and I felt like I was being scolded. Was told that why we have a website amongst other things. I hope calls are recorded so this can be looked into. From one healthcare provider to another it is not just about the doctors it is also the staff that makes a facility! HR and upper management please look into this! I am happy with our current Doctor but due to repeated incidents I will no longer continue care with this facility. read more

First visit, ridiculously overbooked and understaffed. Arrived 30 min before my appt as requested, the entire process just to get a lab order was over 4 hours. We get the lab work done and schedule a virtual appointment for today at 1:30 pm. I receive a call at 1:25 to let me know that they would be running late, and I don't get the call until 5. I waited in the virtual waiting room for an hour and a half, long after they already closed. I call the main number and of course because they're closed I can only speak to an answering service, and they can only pass on the message. And if for some reason I do eventually get a call back, I will request they send my results back to my regular doctor and we will choose another specialist. read more
