Came to the Matagorda, TX area for a little family vacay staying at a cousin's quiet getaway. He…read moresuggested coming to Stanley's for a meal but this place is a full blown store and eatery. Lots of stuff to buy down their aisles from souvenirs, minor groceries and fishing gear. Local wines for sale but unfortunately the staff on duty could not tell me how it was but I bought a bottle anyway. Gorda's Grill is located inside and let me tell you if you wanted a place like McDonalds go to Bay City. Otherwise be prepared to wait and I'm telling you good food is worth the wait. For a little over $30 I bought 3 burgers, 3 drinks (no refills), 2 fries and 1 onion rings. Everyone was happy with their food and completely satisfied. I gave four stars because I'm a stickler about people knowing what their products are like that they are selling. More items such as local goods would sell better especially to tourists.

Been coming here over 40 years. Good place to go when you need groceries or fishing supplies. Used…read moreto it was really your only choice in town. Now you have more options in town and it is over priced but it works if you need a few items quickly. You can get licenses for the beach and fishing here, as well as the mentioned fishing supplies. They have expanded over the years and have clothes and it looks like they took over the old post office and you can get food to eat there. They sell shirts that misidentify the Gulf of Mexico which is sad to a long time resident of the gulf area but the staff was really friendly. A good place to stop to get supplies for a trip to the beach.

Superb service by Staff and keeping the rules for the Pier enforced. On another note!…read more Re:Service Animals on Fulton Fishing Pier. The following is just for information purposes only. ! Having been employed at the Disability Office at one of the Colleges in San Antonio for over five years, I became very familiar with the Federal and Texas ADA LAWS! Further, I am a 100% Disabled Veteran with mobility issues. Your small pet that is decked out with a chest cover that says ADA is not classified as a Service Animal. Look it up on the ADA website and you will find a wealth of information on Service Animals. FYI: I am a Dog lover! Doberman or German Shorthaired are my favorite! Please research the laws before you go. Here is some general information I copied from a website; "Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Texas law, a service animal is defined as a dog (or in some cases, a miniature horse) individually trained to perform specific work or tasks directly related to a person's disability. Emotional support animals are not protected as service animals." When you see people at HEB or Walmart or any other business, with a small animal in their cart or being carried, you can pretty much bet that they are not covered by the ADA. Please take the time to read ADA Laws. One more thing. Any Business can "Trespass" you from their property for any reason. Once they do you must leave the premises.

The lights on the water were excellent, but all I was pulling up on the sabiki were tiny bait fish -- piggy perch, small whiting, you name it. Basically running a daycare for baby fish under those lights. Dropped $20 on croaker and got nothing out of it. Even tried the artificial fish bites, and still just fed the little guys. Didn't see anyone else land anything worth bragging about either. Honestly, just way too many people for not much action.
