This place was a very pleasant surprise. It does look a little run down from the outside (and on the inside as well), but the food was great. We got a shrimp po boy, fried shrimp and hush puppies, and shrimp fried rice with egg rolls. The shrimp on the po boy and on the shrimp plate were HUGE and were deep batter fried perfectly. If this is the best Big Spring has to offer I'm sad for them. We took a nephew here for pre - graduation dinner. Service was good the waitress was attentive. Lots to choose from so we got a variety. The apps were good: crab stuffed jalapeños and fried alligator. Both had good flavor and cooked well. Ny strip had a teriyaki glaze which was weird. The steak was super fatty, almost half was gristle and fat. Hubbs said the fried catfish was bland. Son said the same about his meal of catfish and shrimp. I hope this isn't indicative of Texas beef because I was not impressed. read more

This was my first visit to Snyder, Texas and it was 9:10 p.m. so, there wasn't a whole lot of options for dining. Well, of course unless you fancy fast food! When we walked in the staff was quick to greet us and showed us to a nearby booth. The décor is not fancy but, comfortable diner style! The ambiance of the restaurant matches the relaxed vibe of the workers and the food style! I ordered the shrimp scampi with white rice and it came with a piece of garlic toast. When my food arrived I was surprised at the tiny shrimp that were used in the scampi. I am used to eating on the coast where they use the medium size shrimp. The shrimp flavor was just ok and I felt like they could have used more seasoning. I was happy to see that there was some of the oil they sautéed them in in the bottom of the dish so, I could mix my rice into it. It gave the white rice some flavor since it didn't have butter or anything on it. The garlic toast was good; it was the kind you can buy in a box at the store. Our server was young but, friendly and quick with drink refills and to get our food out. You go up to the counter to check out and we were in and out in about 35 minutes. There were other diners chatting and they seemed to be enjoying their food. I see a lot of good review on here for their fried food so, I probably should have tried something like that or maybe I just caught them on an off night. First time here and was too hungry to make my own decision so asked the waitress what she likes and she said the ribeye. I was skeptical but too hungry to think for myself. Quick trip to the salad bar provided me with a decent side salad while I waited for my steak. No more then 10 minutes later I got this sizzling platter - fresh veggies like broccoli, zucchini, and onion were the mattress for my steak. The juices from the steak sizzled the veggies on the hot skillet and made the veggies worth eating. All of them. Oh and there were 3 Cajun seasoned shrimp on the plate - so yummy. Seen a lot of good plates coming out to the tables around me. All looked finger licking good. This place is a gold mine. read more

So, I ate here on 3/23/15 "After" dining I read some of the reviews about it in which a lot of them said it was pretty good. Well, I respectfully disagree. I ordered the grilled stuffed flounder and shrimp. It was okay at best. The portion size was very small, and the description talked about 3 jumbo shrimp. Well, not everything is bigger in Texas! The shrimp were tiny. I didn't want the "veggies" that came with it so I got hush puppies instead for an extra $1. That turned out to be a mistake. They were cold, out of a box, and a couple of them were actually Hollow. Overall, I was very disappointed with the food. The building is rundown looking, however fairly clean, and a friendly waitstaff. But, I will not be back. read more

We when walked in I thought we had made a mistake stopping here. Rundown and not very inviting. The waitress started off being a little snippy but it was late in the day and I'm sure she was tired considering there were a lot of customers even with it being an off time to eat. Road trip. Dinner. Big open dining area. Not fancy. We were trying to make it to El Paso (from Little Rock, Arkansas) and needed to stop somewhere for dinner. To our surprise, we found this Cajun place through Yelp. It was very difficult to find because the GPS made us leave the highway and took us through town. Finally, we stopped at a couple places and got good instructions. The place was further West and North from what the GPS said. Right next to a gas station, those TA or something like that. Services was friendly, I think our server may have been new because she didn't seem very familiar with the menu. We had an appetizer sampler, everything was good. We also shared a craw fish etouffee. The sauce was yellower that what we have had in the past, but it was still good. Our favorite Cajun place in the Phoenix area is Baby Kay's. read more

Oemgee! This gal hasn't been back home to Arkansas in a while. Stopped here expecting home cooking and got the 3 piece catfish dinner that said "WELCOME HOME" with wide open arms! Great people all around; better food! Our fillets were at least 8" long. In CA where we go to get our southern coking, we're lucky to see 4-6" fillets. Ordered (to split with my wife) two catfish and six shrimp plate (with fries and slaw), order of onion rings, a fried corn on the cob and a small bowl of shrimp creole soup plus iced teas (sweet and unsweet). What a waste. Pricing was OK. Service was not. It must have been Emilie's first day. She forgot to bring the soup, corn and slaw Even after we asked about it, we were told several times it was coming right out. Finally we told her to cancel the corn and slaw. And, of course, just after that they came out. We asked for all of the fired foods to be extra well done and crunchy. They looked like they were until we tried them. Fish mushy, hushpuppies underdone and gooey on the inside. Onion Rings slightly underdone. Shrimp was so-so. And the soup, when it came, was steaming and super spicy. Literally left with a bad taste in our mouths. I was anticipating great food. Didn't turn out that way and service bad. Cant say I'll take this kind of chance again based on Yelp reviews. read more

This is a local restaurant so not much to look at. But the coconut shrimp was better than most I have had in expensive coast restaurants. Husband had the seafood platter and he said is was good just right and fresh. If your driving through Big Springs I would definitely eat there. Grandson had cheese burger and there was none left. I was traveling through and staying in Big Spring on the way from Carlsbad back to Tyler. I really didn't want "Interstate food", and based on the location and the quality of the building I wasn't expecting much, but I went anyway because of the great reviews. I was very pleasantly surprised. The stuffed flounder dish was excellent, comparable to many big city seafood restaurants I've dined at. The waitress was prompt and very pleasant. While I wish the inside of the building were cleaner and more attractive, the quality of the food and service more than made up for it. read more

This was near our hotel so we stopped in the after reading the reviews. It is as good as we read. Nothing fancy, but Veronica, the server, did an amazing job. She's very friendly and fun. Also quick and pays attention. The food was delicious! My husband got the fried shrimp and oysters and enjoyed it very much. I got the grilled salmon and shrimp. The chef cook my salmon exactly as I asked. The seasoning and everything was delicious! I will definitely come back here when we're in town again. If there's any negative, it's that the fact that they have a salad bar was not obvious on the menu and we didn't notice it until after we ordered. A Salad bar is always a plus! But my vegetables and my husband's coleslaw were delicious, too. read more

My experience here was not good at all..there should always be someone at the hostess stand greeting and sitting people..Never should 3 different servers walk up to anyone and ask how many..3..It wasn't even busy to me..server was more worried about talking to some guy in a booth then cashing out her customer who waited 15 mins for her to come back..don't know her name bc she wasn't good to perform what ur supposed to as a server so didn't care at all..Then brought ketchup to the table all filthy..never do you do that..is ur ketchup at home like that??never should u sit a customer without silverware!!I fixed my salad and had to ask for some..then had to wait longer bc she is still talking..ask 2 different ppl..I'm from Louisiana & we know food..shrimp needs seasoning..steak skillet shouldn't be the taste on the veggies..do y'all soak ur skillets at night??& No I'm not talking about in water bc they are cast iron..you have to think about ppl who are traveling around the world & stop at your restaurant..taste,welcomeness lol,& almost greatness are the keys..have the waitress ask if they want water with their alcohol..you learn that in your liquor license class..I could go on..I'm more than welcome to help..it will be like a whole new crew and try ur catfish with cornmeal 6 mins..it won't come out looking like the country fried steak..the chick with the hat on last night waiting in the back of the restaurant looked like she was on her game..get at least one plate runner to help the girls out so they can tend to their customers better when it is busy.. seasoning please.. read more

After reading all the great reviews for this place I decided to give it a try... Here is what I found... Pro - The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection. Con - The steak was about 20% fat and gristle... 5% I can accept but 20% is way too much, especially for the price they charge. The shrimp was large but it was cooked too long. It was actually just short of rubber. Had to chew it for awhile. Pro - the egg rolls are awesome... con - the egg rolls are only 2.5 inches long. These are the smallest egg rolls I have seen in any restaurant, anywhere! It would not be so bad if they were included free with the dish, but they charge extra for them... a dollar each! The lo-mein appears to be made with american egg noodles instead of Chinese lo-mein noodles. This threw the taste off on the entire dish. I would not order it again, The restaurant itself is definitely beyond old and is in serious need of repairs. The floor is missing tiles, they are dingy and appear to be dirty (which I doubt they were, because the tables were spotless), and the decor is extremely outdated. The wait staff were friendly and fast. It threw me for a loop when I first walked in and they told me to sit anywhere, as they followed me to the table with a menu. I would expect them to seat me after asking if I prefer a table or booth. Would I go back? No. mainly because of the prices charged for the quality received. It would be good at half the price, but not for what you must pay. Not worthy of being called a Texas steak house. As for a being called a Cajun Cafe, I guess their standards and expectations must be much lower in Louisiana... I would NOT recommend this restaurant to others. I do not feel that you get what you are paying for, or even close. Too expensive, food is not good enough to make it worth the trip. read more

Best interior in the outdated place was in the bathroom. Very run down. Gator was decent. Had the Steak but it tasted like save a lot leather. Cook accidentally burned one side of my medium and the opposite side was made rare. Sweet tea was fantastic however. Baked potato with the steak was underdone sadly. Funny little place. Don't let the exterior scare you. Been here couple times. Service is great and if your on the highway like me, easy on and off and these guys stuff you and boom back on the road. Food is cooked to order and watch it will be hot. Catfish can stand toe to toe with anyone. I really liked the gumbo. The owner is Asian, so get the egg rolls and it's not weird . Seriously delicious grub on the side of the highway where the only other choices around are some pitiful fast-food and truck stop diners. The catfish we ordered was lightly fried with an absolutely not-greasy batter and great seasoning. It was moist and fresh and oh-so-tasty. We had the gumbo as well, which was quite good. This place is really great! I highly recommend to my yelpers! Service: 6/5 these are probably the most sweetest and nicest, and most happiest person to serve you!! LITERALLY! They accommodate to you very nicely and in every situation. Management: 5/5 everything is together here, they work as a family I can see that. I use to work in a restaurant so I know the responsibilities and work behind each job! Food: 10/5 their food is freshly prepped and cooked to perfection! You can taste it in every bite! Great find while passing by! When we came in there was only 1 booth taken, the place was empty. We were going off the reviews and ordered anyways . Food was pretty good and so was the service By the time we finished our food the place was getting pretty packed for dinner. It's obviously a hot spot for the locals! Saw this place across from the highway from my hotel. The place is a little dated but...ok really dated on the inside but don't let that fool you. I ordered the grilled stuffed flounder and shrimp like most people on yelp it seems. When I entered, the waitress just said to sit wherever, so I did. I sat so I could watch the news on the TV sitting in one of the corners. The waitress was pleasant and said "good choice" when I told her my selection. The place was relatively quiet while I ate my dinner. Seems like several people ordered steak or hamburgers as I look around the room. I could smell the food cooking in the kitchen as I hear the few voices that are actually talking instead of eating. The place is about half full as I see it, but it's only 6pm on a Thursday but started gettin busy before I left. The flounder wasn't actually stuffed but the spices made it good. It came with dirty rice and grilled vegetables. I ordered the 6 pack of hush puppies as well. They aren't store bought anymore from what I can see... I gotta admit, I wasn't blown away, but I would eat here again. read more
