I have mixed feelings about this place. My first visit was great and the 2nd (and last) wasn't. My friends and I were in town 2 weeks ago and were staying at the Hampton Inn. We all had been up since 3am, boarded a very early morning flight and then drove for 4 hours. We were all in desperate need of a drink, darts and a juke. Yelp pointed us to the Texan and off we went. Our first visit was on a Friday late afternoon and our bartender was Jill. She was super sweet and very attentive. We played some pool, cranked some Stones and had a few brews followed by some tequila shots. We stayed a few hours and all was good.
Our second visit was on Sunday. Our intention was to do some shopping, but apparently the whole town is closed on Sunday. Me being from the big city wasn't aware of this! So instead of shopping, we hit the only place that was open - The Texan! It was around 2:30 or so and had an appt in neigboring Glenwood Springs so we couldn't stay too long. We started off with a few cold ones and some pool. We then decided a few shots couldn't hurt. I chose Crown, the bff chose tequila and the other bff had SoCo. We also decided Katy Perry wasn't our type of music and put $5 in the juke. On went Rush, Black Sabbath, Stones, Aerosmith, Danzig, Pantera, Slayer...you get my drift. Somewhere between Danzig and Rush some woman decided to put $10 in the juke, override my tunes and announce "Enough with the puppy killing music!!" WTF?! Do we look like satan worshippers?! What did she choose?? More Katy Perry, Pharrel and some other bubble gum music. This was obviously work by a local. We decided it was time for us to leave after that rude ass remark. We were dropping cash and were just starting to have a good time. I get it if not everyone likes our kind of music, but save the fucking remarks and don't be an asshole and override every single song. It's a bar for fucks sake.
Star ratings: The bartenders were gems, it's clean and they have a good digital juke that had good 1cr songs and being open on a Sunday is a definite plus! read more
