That pretty much sums up the top level. :) The lower level is the children's library, with mrs Peterson being the calming and loving force that this kids and parents at the library loves. When my son was small and would run around instead of sitting during story time she would say Don't worry. He's staying close. He's still listening. He's now 13 and we still utilize this library as often as we can. They have special events , movie nights , busy trips and other interesting speakers etc.

The Somerville Public Library just joined the county library system this past January. I did notice that the tax documents were out for public consumption at a very timely fashion. This library isn't terribly large, but it has an ample number of computers as well as a fair catalog to choose from, both in the literary and visual media. One of my favourite parts is that the library has pretty good hours and is very conveniently located.

When I used to live in the…read morearea, I'd drive on lake road just to get a few glimpses - or sneak up on the Matheny side to get a good look. When I saw that Blairsden was being served as the Mansions In May this year, I nearly died. The finest example of Beaux Arts architecture in the US ( built by Carr'ere and Hastings - who also built the New York Public Library & the Frick) So when tickets went up for $50 a piece - I quickly snapped a few up and alerted my wonderful BF (who has no interest in this) of what we were to do on Mother's Day. Turnout was expected to be tremendous, so 25 shuttles were offered to and from the mansion from the Fowler rd parking area. We got there at 12:00 and waited just a few minutes to board. By the time our shuttle was full, there was a good 20 people waiting for the next bus. We entered from the main gates on peapack rd and zipped up to the top of the hill. There were about 100 people waiting to enter the home in front of us - well worth the wait. Each room has been redesigned by interior decorators from around the US. Most of the rooms had tidbits of history here and there. Original sinks, faucets, lighting, fire hose, elevator, etc etc as well as molding, fireplaces, windows, flooring. This house was a masterpiece! I only wish they had spent more on the grounds as you were unable to see the ravine built for the home. Again - this is just for the month of May and all the proceeds to toward a good cause (Morristown Medical Center) GO GO GO!!

It was really nasty and I'm surprised that people don't complain about it or bring it up to the people that work there. There is no inter-county library loan. Selection-wise, there are a few books I always check to see if a decent library has, and they have them, as well as Wii games and an impressive DVD collection, but the sense of community, of going to a library to do research or look at new books or whatever, is just gone, only adding to the anti-intellectualism America does so well. It's completely dystopian and disappointing. I know that libraries have to follow state mandates and are often the first things closed during virus surges, but this once-impressive library is just in a sad state.
