I wish there was an option for zero star. This is a horrible place to stay from the staff cleanliness and price. I had a reservation for a studio however, I got and text the night before, and they have offered me a two bedroom suite . The first night I was tired, and did not notice anything until the second day, which I saw several cockroaches on the kitchen crawling on my food . I called the front desk immediately and notified them when I was explaining on the phone the receptionist hung up on me . She was so rude and angry. Apparently they knew the problem that there was an infestation of cockroaches, and that particular room that can explain the reason for offering and upgrading my room. The front desk told me there is no manager on the site and you have to wait until Monday. Then she called me back and told me if I want I can have another room. I knew that there might be the same situation on the other room and I did an inspection which confirmed what I predicted and it was even more filthy. Than the first room. I refuse to move and again asked to talk to a manager she resisted, and then she noticed I am taking the number written on the wall for their corporate office and she was very upset. When I wanted to take the pen she screamed at me. I am emphasizing that she screamed at me, not yelling . At that point, I did not know what to do because it was late night so I asked if at least they can send someone to clean the room or give me bug spray but still she ignored me not even answered The next day, when I saw the cleaning people, they told me this room is infested, and they are very well aware of that. Also, they said one of the maintenance people just resigned and quit it because of the dirtyNess, and this problem. I contacted the health department as well as the corporate office . I sent them the video and picture of the cockroaches, which I saw them again the next day. But no one did anything for me however, the second time that I took a picture of the cockroach on the kitchen and show them. They change my room, and I did not want it to even look around because I did not want to see anything to make me disgusted, I spend the night And left. However, this is my worst experience ever staying at a hotel and even the way they treated me affected me more. For example, when I ask for some help to get the Willer for moving my stuff, the same lady refused and said go and find it through your self. That's not my job. Today I contacted the third-party and where I made the reservation with. Luckily they were able to refund me. I found out that health department sent an inspector. They just have the specific room out of order. However, the entire hotel must be infested since cockroaches were coming through the sink. Please do not go to this hotel. read more

Terrible management and leasing "agents". They increased rent by $1200 after 1 year. Office never put in paperwork to negotiate rent increase after they said they did. You need 60 days notice to move out or they charge you yet they give the increase rent notice at exactly 60 days so you have to decide THAT DAY if you are packing up your life. Run, don't walk, as far away from this complex as fast as you can. From the moment I moved in, problems started happening and the facade they put up became self evident. Immediately they started adding hundreds of dollars onto my rent for various things. They charged for gas and electric even though I placed utilities in my name prior to moving in. They also charged $50 for not having renters insurance despite the fact I provided proof. This went on for the entire 6 months I was there. They even charge fees to pay online, so I was forced to pay with a paper check After the 3rd month they raised my rent by $500/month stating that if I stayed longer than 6 months that was the new 'going rate'. I quickly gave my 60 days written notice per the 58 page lease they have you sign. Others weren't so lucky, and overlooking this clause were forced to pay $6000 upon move out for 2 months rent plus fees. The con game is 'you just convert to month to month' which gives a false sense of security. If you let that happen, your rent goes up $1300/mo and you'll still be required to give 60 days notice. It's a trap. They promised me prior to move in the multi-million dollar renovations would be completed in three weeks because I had questioned why the rent was so high, literally equal to 'city prices' in downtown Boston. That promise was made in December of 2018 and 8 months later the project still isn't finished as they keep the pool, gym and clubhouse off limits and closed. There were three separate incidences where the sprinklers in the ceiling burst, flooding units and hallways with alarms going off for 24 hours. The pipes in the ceilings are rotting (according to the repair team) as well as rusty HVAV units outside. When they were repairing these apartments they were left unlocked, with remediation fans running 24/7 and no safety plastic enclosing those areas or outside current with plastic sheeting to protect from mold spores escaping. They added new carpet over these areas and the units are full of mold. Allergy problems, noise and distress are a common occurrence. The tap water runs brown for a few days after this and they do not warn tenants because they claim it's safe. The water is never safe on that property because the entire 6 months I lived there the toilet bowls turn black every 48 hours and require constant cleaning, more than usual. There is only one central dumpster which means tenants are forced to drive to them by car and it's often overflowing around the parking lot and even the tennis court. This could be why they have so many rats. There was even a discarded mattress thrown into the tennis court which remained for 60 days. One of the street lamps fell over and they just left it there for months as people tripped over it when covered in a fresh layer of snowfall. Doors are propped open and locks are unreliable in all of the buildings making in unsecured and difficult to enter during a storm. They make false promises about using 'pet friendly salt' during the winter and maintenance denies that. Residents don't responsibly pick up dog feces, and they lie about fining them $75 as they ignore their own rules and policies. They claim to not accept aggressive breeds but once you move in you'll see German Sheppard's and pit bulls, all breeds. The pit bull attacked two different dogs and the police were called. They lied about calling animal control and evicting this dog whose actually lived there for three years. They aren't concerned nor do they follow through. They leave threatening eviction notices on your door if rent isn't paid by the 3rd of the month which is illegal in MA. They will charge you $300 in legal fees if not paid by the 14th in lieu of a late fee, both of which are illegal until after the 30th of the month. It's impossible to pay your rent if they're tacking on hundreds of dollars in false charges. Often times you'll run into smokers and the grounds are covered with cigarette butts. Lots of section 8 tenants are home all day, running up and down the elevator to smoke outside. The hallways and elevator stink of smoke and mold. Multiple residents complain about cars being burglarized and without proper lighting and security cameras and it's not that uncommon to see drug deals happening late at night. They charge $75/mo for covered parking, but it's fair game during a snowstorm with no repercussions. You'll find that some tenants are only being charged $25/mo, since they make up rules as they go along, anything they can get away with happens with this property. If you threaten to call your Attorney they will simply give you their Attorneys number. They don't care. Calls made to the JRK corporate office are never returned, nobody has ever been successful in reaching them. The property is surrounded by marshlands on all sides, so expect the largest mosquito and tick scenario imaginable in the summer. Don't say you weren't warned. Was supposed to move in September 7. Then, about a week prior when moving out of my old place they told me the unit had to be renovated. Ok--fine. Things happen. A hotel for a week and storage unit are not ideal but whatever. So we move in--and nothings new. It had new carpet but does that take a week? Now--we're here. The office doesn't even have a working valid phone number to call. I called just now to complain about the foot of snow no one attempted to move in two days. We have more snow coming too! The positive reviews on Google are all fake, do a little clicking and you will see they are mostly all bots who write positive reviews for all the same businesses. The manager is one of the most unpleasant and rude individuals I have ever come across. While the units are nice, there is a constant issue with literal mold growing within the vents and don't even get me started on the dust, I literally dust twice a week. I could not breathe for the first 4 months of me living here. I had to get the town's board of public health involved before maintenance and the manager followed up. The manager is dismissive and rude when issues are brought to his attention, literally he is joke to everyone here. When it snowed, my roommates car got stuck 4 times and she was over 2 hours late to work due to the fact that they literally did not plow at all. On my official move in date I showed up that morning with all my belongings in a Uhaul. I walked into the office to sign paperwork and get my keys, to then find out that they had no idea I was moving in that day. I showed them the lease I signed 2 months prior. Once they acknowledged my move in date they explained that they didn't have a two bedroom available for me and threw me in "the cleanest" 2 bedroom they had. No fresh paint no clean carpets rusted out vanity lights in the bathroom. They promised all of that would be taken care of. As of today, not a single thing has been done. Paying market rent, you would think they would want to make things right. This past weekend I went over to the pool for the first time since moving in to be approached by the "pool attendant" telling me I can't have my plastic cups in the pool area and kept referring to an email that was sent out. The email clearly states no glass. Now granted the cups that I had did look like cocktail cups but that is all I had in my house that was plastic. She accused me of drinking alcohol in the pool area ( I do not drink) insisting she smelt alcohol on my breath. Then tells me that email states only red solo cups are allowed. I think most people associate solo cups as alcohol. She was walking around with life guard attire but is not a certified lifeguard. There are signs all over the pool area stating "no lifeguard on duty". She kept coming over complaining about all these random things. My 3 year old niece didn't have arm floats and I was told she wasn't allowed in the pool without them. Again, she reverts to the email. I pulled up the email and nothing of what she said was in the email. I understand the safety concern however, there nothing stating this is mandatory. I was going to be in the pool with my niece. Them the attendant proceeded to state she does swimming lessons on Tuesdays. Again, she is not a certified lifeguard meaning she can not conduct swim lessons at all without being certified. She gets to open and close the pool when she feels like it. For the price of the rent we should be able to access the pool at regular hours. I will be making a formal complaint as well as I believe Myself and my company were harassed. I also noticed there is a pool "clique" if you will. Like the cool kids table in high school. Jeanette the pool attendant is on a power trip. They need to hire someone who knows how to do the job without making people feel like they aren't welcome to our community pool. My wife and I moved in December of last year, and back then we felt like we were taking a chance on this place. The apartment layout, marble single-piece table/counter, beautiful sink/new appliances and AMAZING clubhouse/fitness center made us want to come, but you could also tell it was understaffed/undermaintained. There was work being done in the entrance to the Towers, issues with some of the doors, and just generally minor issues throughout (like lamps here or there not being on, etc). Alex (a regular rep at the time) was clearly working hard to hold the place together, and was doing a good job with how clearly understaffed they were at the time, but they were still clearly understaffed. However since Nate became manager and has gotten it staffed, it has taken a HUGE turn for the better, and we've really gotten to see this place hit the potential we hoped it would hit when we first moved in. There's no more dog poop ANYWHERE, people don't smoke where they're not supposed to, and the facilities are just in general excellently maintained. Whenever I walk around I always see him hard at work or talking to contractors to fix things or make improvements, and you can tell he really cares about the place - often working hard on fixing others' problems first even when the AC had been broken in his office for over a month. In his words were "Residents take priority." He always listens when we have problems, is empathetic, and takes whatever action he can to make sure it gets solved as soon as possible. He took over just before the pandemic hit and told everyone he would try to use any extra funds to host little gatherings/events at the clubhouse, and I thought for sure that wouldn't happen once the pandemic hit. But he creatively got food trucks to come so that people could have the event socially-distanced in the parking lot! Most properties with pools that I've seen clearly have had them closed all summer as well, but he worked with the town to figure out appropriate rules and even got people safe access to the pool, which I'm sure also wasn't easy to pull off. It also took a fair bit of extra attention from the staff since they had to keep track of how many people were there, but my wife and I REALLY appreciated the extra effort. We missed out on doing any triathlons this year, but we were able to do our own mini-triathlon and get a little training (and MUCH needed relaxation) in this summer thanks to them. This place is 10/10, the location is 10/10 (right on main street within walking distance of Capellini's), and the staff are 11/10. My only complaint is that I can't buy one of the apartments! They said they would have availability for the time we want to move and so we scheduled a time to come check out the place. We ended up showing up for our appointment, only to have the woman working give us so much attitude. She explained she didn't have us down for an appointment, and that they didn't have anything that met our needs. I had a horrible experience at the Residence at Tewksbury Commons. My mom lived there for about 2 years. Very poor maintenance. Replaced her broken dishwasher with another used dishwasher . But worse than that over charged her for water bills. My mom lived alone , she's 88 never had anybody in her apartment and they billed her for water charges more than I pay for my house monthly for my husband and I. Furthermore they still have not returned her security deposit which is supposed to have interest applied over the year where the money is to be held in escrow. They lied about her not having tenant insurance which I coped and handed it to the manager later he claimed it "was not in the file" they invent charges so they can deduct it from your security deposit. This place has gone so far downhill its embarassing Leasing staff is impossible to get ahold of. They say the're there during posted hours but they're always "on a tour". They'll sign for your packages while you're at work, but then never be around when you want to pick them up. I almost always have to wait 10-15 minutes for someone to show up at the leasing office during business hrs to get someone to give me my package. Good news is, its a smokers paradise. You can flick your cigarette butts everywhere and just let them pile up. There are piles behind both back doors to every building. Residents also like tossing trash bags out the windows of the first floor apartments instead of walking them to the dumpster. You'll also find abandoned furniture in the carports and many times in the bushes as well. And while we're on the subject of dumpsters, there are many spaced throughout the complex, and they're CONSTANTLY overflowing. So people continue to pile trash in front of the dumpster because who wants to carry their trash a quarter mile to the next closest one? In the winter, the trash bags freeze to the ground and tear, then the snow falls so you get these garbage filled snowbanks. On the subject of snow. I have been snowed in for over 48 hours AFTER a storm. It will take days to get the parking spaces cleared out and usually this doesn't happen so you either park on snow, or circle the building 12 times like you're trying to park in Chelsea. Sidewalks are never salted and the few times the snow plows do show up, its either right at the beginning or well after a storm is over. I actually keep a snowblower in my carport so I can shovel out a space for my wife's car. When you confront the management about it they do nothing. To Be clear, by contact I mean go into and wait at the office, again they only return phone calls to prospective leasing clients. Once you're a resident they don't care. When you do contact management to complain about the snow removal they try to get you to rent a carport, for an additional fee, an inflated fee because it's winter. Now let's move on to the maintenance staff. They'll do the bare minimum to get you to stop complaining. They'll "fix" your busted appliance 10 or 11 times. But only to shut you up. Many times they'll say "we would replace it, but upper management isn't getting back to us to approve the fix..and we're out of loaners, so uh, sorry I guess" Now about the neighborhood. We've been here for years and it's gone downhill. There's drug busts here from time to time and once the offenders are paroled, they get to come home and keep dealing out of the parking lots. Its not all bad though, you also get to find the occasional heroin needle, and you know the rule, finders keepers!! The new tennants are not vetted at all because the office is desperate to fill apartments. So you get folks who refuse to pick up after their dog, or do so and then leave the bags of poop on the steps. You also get folks with rather aggressive dogs off their leashes or folks who refuse to bring their dogs out so the things sit inside and bark and growl all day. The hallways are always littered with trash and of course the cigarette butts, they're literally everywhere. Most folks sit in the parking lot, which abuts the building and smoke there. This completely defies the point of a smoke free building though. You still can't have your windows open for more than 10 or 15 minutes without your apartment smelling like an ashtray, and forget using your porch. The property has really been left to rot recently. MOST of the lamp poles had fallen down over the winter, none of them have been fixed. The light bulbs in the hallways are never replaced, and there's one that's been out for 3 weeks so far (I'm tracking how long it'll take them to notice). There's been a penis spraypainted on one of the parking lot for 2+ years. They still have not removed it. Many of the sidewalks are crumbling or lifting due to tree roots. Trees come down all the time and are just left across the sidewalks. People park on the grass constantly and because of that not only is it a nightmare to navigate some of the roads, the grass has been wearing down to just dirt. Good news is since management never enforces any of the rules, you can park pretty much wherever The Rent continually goes up, to the point where the cost is more in line with Balsam Place and Joan's Farm, both of which are MUCH newer buildings with granite and stainless kitchens, new bathrooms and much nicer grounds. So really, if you're considering this place, for the money, you're MUCH better off at one of those places. Remember also, its not only about the apartment and the fixtures, its about the management company, for that reason alone I'd run away. Not from just this property but any of the JRK properties Such as the one in Saugus or the one in Peabody. read more

Four months into my lease, and I'm already counting down the days until I can move.... VERY, VERY unhappy at this complex. The grounds are filthy, trash everywhere from overstuffed dumpsters. The buildings themselves are filthy, no housekeeping or maintenance keeping the hallways and front lobbies clean. Zero attention to detail, and very poor responses to concerns. The office staff is clearly overwhelmed, and they can't seem to keep any of their staff. Loud and inconsiderate residents, and children who are unsupervised and ill behaved running the halls and the property. The apartment units themselves are very nice, just hope that nothing goes wrong... because you'll have to wait to have it addressed. DO NOT RENT HERE.... you'll live to regret it.... When we moved here almost 2 years ago we loved the place it was exactly what we were looking for. However a lot has changed since then and this place has gone down hill faster than words could explain. The management team has since been changed and the new team has made little to no effort to fix any of the issues with the property. When you call the office most of the time you get a machine telling you no one is available to take your call please try again at a later time. Their new system to pay your rent doesn't provide a breakdown of what you are paying for anymore and the rates just seem to go higher and higher. The system is not user friendly at all and for the most part the staff is not much help either. It also seems like they have become desperate for tenants and that has led to some less than reputable tenants moving in over the past 6-9 months or so. Those same tenants don't pick up after their dogs or themselves and its quickly making this a very uncomfortable place to live. Personally my family and I can't wait for our lease to be up so we can move somewhere else. I wish I would have known this when I signed my new lease back in March of this year. I would have gladly moved out even if it meant living in a one bedroom apartment with my wife two kids and our dog. Almost anything would be better than dealing with the way things are getting here. Not to mention the cost of rent here is 3 times what it should be since the apartments are slowly but surely breaking down and even if they are breaking down they still have outdated cabinets, faucets, windows etc. I initially wrote this review when the management company 1st took over and it changed to Tewksbury Commons. i have lived here since Feb 2020 the past 8 months have been like a nightmare moved in had mold in the master bedroom vent i made phone call after phone call to office with no reply i took a photo of vent to main office and was told that's not mold but we will replace the vent about another week goes by and still nothing i physically brought the vent to main office and asked property manager to swap it with one in his apt, 2 days later vent is cleaned, I came home to a leak from the sprinkler head over kitchen counter water leaking from light fixture and multiple areas of the ceiling i called emergency maintenance line multiple times with no response i had to call fire dept maintenance finally show up there was a leak in apt above me and was not notified they left the water for me to clean, there was a gas leak in apt below me for 2 weeks and not notified UNEXCUSABLE only to find out gas leak was in my gas feed, gas co shut my gas off for another week did not notify me or any other tenants not even fire dept REALLY! i asked property manager how long it would have taken to get that gas leak fixed if it were in his apt still waiting for an answer, the gas leak was treated like a light bulb was out in my apt, we are in a pandemic and received a email stating they would add extra cleaning to the common areas after months of no cleaning at all i called Tewksbury board of health and management admitted they had not cleaned buildings since before march UNREAL management suggested tenants rally and clean building for $2400+ a month there is no reason for us to clean anything, this is a pet friendly community i do not have a dog but love them but not the dog poop it's not the dogs fault it's the owner's, it's everywhere then the landscapers drive right over it and if your lucky your apt will smell like poopery for an hour or 2 on a nice warm day, trash dumpsters are always overflowing with trash amenities are listed but not often available yoga room is actually a storage area gym had no wipes or spray to clean machines after use until a pandemic broke out and more times than not the bathroom has no soap or paper towels your lucky if there is TP, the golf simulator has been down 90% of the summer you know when people are playing golf, you pay $50 dollars a month for those amenities weather you use them our not so between the rent and that $50 charge you would think they could provide soap and paper towel but NOPE, most tenants here meet by asking do you know how to get a hold of the office i have been calling and no one answers and doors are locked, i had to right RESIDENCES AT TEWKSBURY COMMONS CHECK YELP REVIEWS BEFORE SIGNING LEASE on the side of my truck to finally get a response from office, i pay an extra $75 a month for a car port to protect my car and motorcycle only to have landscapers drive around on a huge blower launching rocks small branches and dirt all over your vehicle, so that's it yes EPIC long review but every word is true, i am here for another 4 months and counting the days, i have learned a major lesson YELP is here for a reason use it so you know before you sign a lease and are put threw what i am dealing with........no anger just frustration and disappointment i guess i expected more for my $2400+ rent in my so called LUXURY rental thanks and peace read more

Just to echo Tim O sentiments. Ever since the change in management, roughly in Sept, about a month after we signed a lease and moved in, things have gone nothing but downhill. At least the previous management would reply to a phone call, or an email, something, but nothing from this new management. And truthfully, to be signing a lease for $2500 a month, with no word nor hint that the place was selling out in less than a month to a new management company, kind of sucked. We have had lights out since we've moved in, and not fixed. And if were "fixed", would only go out a day later. There are lights out in the stairways that no one has ever addressed. The place used to get cleaned at least once a week in common areas, and now the hallways and stairways are generally a disaster, while people are just allowed free reign to smoke wherever they want, dogs use the "facilities" wherever they please, people have GAS/PROPANE grills in clear view sitting on porches, Dumpsters overflowing and trash everywhere, etc. Any email or in person visit to the office, and nothing gets addressed. There has been a car sitting in the lot next to our building, in front of our carports, with out of state plates, windows down, covered in snow, and has been sitting there since Sept, yet, nothing done about it, no matter how many emails or visits to the office. And to top it off, last night, during a blizzard, one of our "neighbors" knocked on our door around at night asking if we knew who drove a certain vehicle. I guess that certain vehicles owner assumed he could just park in any car port he wanted, which to have access for you have to pay for. So here was this guy, in a blizzard, and couldnt even get into his own paid for space, and as he said, he called the office only to get nothing. Terrible. Stay away. Hello everyone, My name is Erik. I was lived in Tewksbury Commons for the past 1.6 years. In the beginning, when I just signed the contract for the 3 bedrooms apartment, I expect to get a highly professional service. However, on the first day, I realized that in one of the rooms was the wet carpet near the window. I asked for the assistance, and only after 1 month, this problem was solved. Another aspect that I didn't like, was the incident with my car. I left my car on the parking lot and left to the New York for the holidays. When I came back on Sunday, I found my car with the broken right front light. When I came to the resident office, I've received sorry words. Which mean nothing to me in that particular situation! As a result, I was fixing this issue on my own. There were no any cameras etc. to find the person who did this. So, the safeness of your vehicles is not so good in this community. One of the latest negative things I faced with, was when I continue my contract for the 6 months. Me, as a student, supposed to finish the university in December this year, so when my previous lease was completed, I made a decision to rent the same apartment for more 6 months. I discussed all of the situations with one of the managers, and she said that I will not face any problems after I will be done in a 6 month. After 5 months, I came to the office again with a reminder that I am leaving in a month, just I thought it will be right, to remind stuff about it. As a result, another manager said that I supposed to tell them for the 3 months before I will be leaving the apartment in a paper format. This was the most unfair ticket for all my life! As a result, they threatened me by destroying my credit bank account and suing with me if I will not pay them a price for 2 months. Which means, my regular rent was 2,800$, and I was splitting this amount with my roommates. But as a result, they charged us for nothing twice of this price. After that, I found the small paragraph on the 6th page of the agreement, with these 90 days reminding. No one didn't even remind me about this paper format reminder. I ask the manager, how often did they face the same situations as I am in? And she said, OFTEN. Which means, that they are charging lots of people for nothing, and earn money from fooling the people. So, tomorrow I supposed to leave this apartment, and pay them 6000$ for nothing. It's so unfair and looks like financial fraud. But, as a student, I have nothing to afford against them. So, now I am selling my own car to give them this amount of money. Hope they are proud and happy about it. I RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE, be careful with these community, they are ready to trick you and make you pay just because they can. read more
