So for my appointment- we first started off doing a test strand just because of the history of my hair (I basically box dyed it, terrible decision haha and then decided to get it redone in jet black at the salon, so yea was not the easiest hair to work it). Anyways, after we did the test standard we determined that my hair was strong and healthy enough to proceed. The whole hair appointment took about 3 hours. TBH I did not know what color I wanted at all until I saw the color on myself. All i knew was that i wanted some sort of brown/blonde. So we did the dam thing! Initially I thought it was a little too light/blonde for me, but Randi reassured me that she would work with me to get it to a color that I loved- and we definitely did that! I mean just look at the pictures! I'm absolutely amazed at how Randi got my hair to look light but also very natural. We ended up with a mushroom brown! Hands down one of my favorite hair stylist! The pictures at the salon are the ones where I'm wearing the blue plaid and then the other pictures are of my with my hair straight after a wash and another one where I attempted to curl it. The one thing that I would prepare for before going is the parking. There is a 2 hour limit so be prepare to download the Passport app so that you can refill your parking I believe I paid $6 total for the 3 hours of parking. Thank you SO much Randi! xoxo

She understood what I meant when i requested a seamless blend. I can already tell that my current color is going to grow out beautifully. I travel a lot so I'm not always available for haircolor every 2 months. Also, Randi gave me the best long layered cut I think I've ever had. Stylists tend to not layer my hair enough, but she knew just what to do with mine. It seems like hairdressers are afraid to cut enough layers around my face, but finally, I've found someone who truly understands what I mean when I say I want movement around my face. Also, the salon itself (Eunoia Salon) is stunning! The vibe is warm, inviting, and very calm. I especially enjoyed the sink area in the back. It's a CLEAN salon that is stunningly appointed. Loving my lived in color and long layered cut SO much. Thank you Randi!

In Boston, I would pay a boat load of money on Newbury Street and walk out of the salon looking like a news anchor from the '80s. While I found an incredible stylist in Portland at a high-end salon, it was rough shelling out $75 every few weeks on a haircut. One day, my luck changed - I couldn't get in with my normal stylist, so I took a chance on Jenna - and I haven't looked back since! Aside from being personable, laid back, and a downright hoot to hang out with, Jenna is an awesome stylist who makes me feel like a million bucks every time I leave Zen. She always takes the time to have a conversation about what I'm looking for in a haircut - from how long I want to devote to styling it each day to whether or not I'll need to pull it back when I go to the gym - and I've never been disappointed. I have an angled bob cut that requires a lot of precision, and she's right on every time. Not only is she a master with the scissors, she does an incredible job coloring, as well. Just recently, she gave me a great overall color with partial highlights and it turned out beautifully and lasted thanks to her shampoo recommendations. While Jenna's prowess when it comes to styling is bar none, the cherry on top is that she's affordable. It doesn't cost me an arm and a leg to get my hair done and that's just another reason to add to my list of why I am hooked. While Zen may look small on the outside, it's beautifully laid out inside and really accessible from anywhere in Greater Portland. Give Jenna a try if you're looking for a great new 'do!
