Says 1 of 8 stalls available on the map info but one is broken. Yay. Waiting in line -_-

Swing by a little before 8am Sunday morning after dropping off friends in the airport. There were a few spots available. After I did some shopping in the Whole Foods. It gets a little busy. There are valet parking after 8am to help customers charging the vehicles. Very convenient location

    This is my beast.

Sometime free isn't worth it.... When I bought my Model X a few months back, one of the things that really appealed to me was the SuperCharger network. Tesla owners have access to FREE charging stations all over the world. It's cool enough that my car is all electric, no emissions. Pair that with the opportunity for free energy sometimes (think free tanks of gas for you fossil fuel heathens) and it's a great proposition. At least on the surface. In the Bay Area there are several. For my job I regularly visit clients in the South Bay, City and Peninsula, so the SuperChargers in San Mateo and Mountain View are opportunities to get free power while I'm running around so that I don't have to pay so much for energy when I charge at home. The SuperCharger facility in San Mateo is only marginally useful for me. First, it only has 8 slots, and with a location conveniently off the 101 freeway that's just not enough capacity. There are too many Tesla owners in this area taking advantage of free charging, and as a result there is usually a wait. The second issue is the wait itself. It takes about an hour to fully charge a car from almost empty to full at a SuperCharger, however most people like me don't go there on empty and fill all the way. I usually only charge for 20 minutes tops and go on my way, and that's the courteous thing to do, but some jackholes in the area use the SuperChargers for parking. They drop off their car, plug it in, and leave for a long time. I've actually seen people get dropped off back at their car from somebody else's vehicle, which is a pretty good indicator that they went off-site for a long time and wasted space. Third, SuperChargers are not the most pleasant place to be when they are over-capacity and there is a long line. This location is particularly bad because no thought went into how to queue the line for waiting. The chargers are along the edge of a very busy parking lot/parking structure with lot of traditional cars zooming in and out. The cars waiting for a charge are in these people's way. They get pissed about it. There's a lot of backing up and moving forward and getting out of the way during the afternoons. Also, the attitude of many Tesla owners while waiting is just too much. The only thing worse than a wealthy person with a sense of entitlement is a whole pack of 'em, and that's what you get at a SuperCharger, all these mafluent types who think they're the most elite, with more valuable time and priorities. So they zoom in, get pissy about being at the back of the line and start asking around to see if somebody will let them move up. They ask the attendant if they can sneak in for a quickie. It's so annoying. I pass through here a couple times a week, hoping I can grab a quick bite next door while my car gets some free juice. Three times out of four I don't stop because it's not worth it, even though it's free. I have serious concerns about this location being a long-term, useful charge site for Tesla owners. The user base is growing faster than capacity. If Tesla can't adequately serve customers with free energy, fine, but they need to stop over-selling it when they offer the cars. In the meantime, add 8 more slots, that should hold things for a couple years as long as the Model 3 doesn't get free power too.

Two are broken and not in use. They are always filled. Please add more chargers in the garage or somewhere.

I decided it was best to park on the roof and take the escalator down to ground level.....right to the restaurant! While I was there, I walked around to see what the indoor mall was like. It's a nice shopping mall with a variety of shops, restaurants, and services. The North Mall has a huge "Dining Terrace" which includes an outdoor patio with fire pits. I like the hand washing area. I heard stories that the owners of the mall want to tear down the enclosed mall and build a mixed use open air mall. The plan is yet to be approved. I like Hillsdale Mall the way it is.

The visitor seating area next to Foot Locker smells like throw-up, and the carpets and seats are stained and grimy, like they haven't been cleaned in months. All of the trash bins outside are constantly overflowing, and you can find trash and debris scattered everywhere, which makes walking around gross and unpleasant. During Christmas, the Santa chair for photos is black, sticky, and completely gucky, making what should be a fun experience with kids feel disgusting. The overall smell, dirt, and lack of maintenance make this mall feel unsafe and unhygienic -- honestly, I would never come back and would warn anyone I know to avoid it.

Overall, the job was completed successfully, passed inspection, and avoided a costly panel upgrade. But there were also a few areas where the process could have been handled more proactively. What I appreciated: * Technical expertise & cost savings: My service panel is limited (90A), and other contractors immediately suggested an expensive underground service upgrade. Kirill performed load calculation and recommended using an Emporia Pro charger with dynamic load management. That solution allowed me to safely add both the EV charging outlet and the microwave circuit without upgrading the service panel. * Permits & documentation: They provided the required licensing, insurance documentation and handled the city permitting and inspection process. The final inspection passed without issue. * Responsiveness: Communication was generally clear via email regarding quotes, scheduling, and permit updates. Where I believe the process could improve: We encountered a major obstacle when it was discovered that the crawl space was blocked by a concrete foundation wall, preventing wire routing as originally planned. Initially, there wasn't a clear alternative proposed. I ended up suggesting routing the wiring through the ceiling instead. While the team evaluated and successfully implemented that solution, I would have preferred if alternative routing strategies had been proactively identified earlier in the process. I also want to acknowledge Erin's craftsmanship. When we ultimately routed the wiring through the ceiling, he carefully navigated around existing plumbing lines and made precise cuts to minimize disruption. The finish work was clean and well executed. In the end, the installation works well, passed inspection, and achieved the primary goal of adding EV charging without a major panel upgrade. I would recommend them for homeowners with limited electrical capacity, especially if dynamic load management is needed.

I had the pleasure of having lunch here on a Friday afternoon. We were a party of three, with a reservation for 12 noon. It was my first time here, but my niece had been to Palette several times. Anytime you needed something, you just ask someone. We decided to order a variety of dim sum, the Signature Peking Duck (half), and the Pan Seared Seafood Noodles. Everything was delicious. The presentation of the Peking Duck was beautiful. They used momo pancakes instead of steamed bao. It's not a duck chopped in half. It's an offering of crispy thin duck skin, with chunks of boneless duck meat underneath. Served with cucumber, radlish, scallions and hoisin sauce. I think my favorite dim sum was the Yuzu Walnut Prawn Puff. Crunchy fried prawns w/ yuzu sauce, and candied walnuts. It's considered an elevated modern dish. In the grocery section, their corporate direction seems to be stocking more and more of their store brands with much less nationally branded products. For example, they have almost no Early California olives, and all Archer Farms or another of their brands. Since it's unknown who makes these products, I don't buy them. The prices are sometimes higher than the national brands. I've always purchased Viva paper towels at Target in San Mateo and now they've replaced these with their own brand of a poor-quality product. (note that other locations still carry Viva, just not San Mateo). I know they make better margins on their own brands, but customers do have brand loyalty on some products. I find myself making the drive to Walmart more frequently--much better selection and much lower prices. Target once was known for fun, good-quality seasonal items. I have many that are now part of our family collection of decorations. Now they have a smaller selection at cheap Dollar Store quality. I guess they don't want it to last multiple seasons! They have also locked up many items at this store. I understand theft and their need to do this, but I've pressed the buzzer and waited 10+ minutes, and no one ever comes. This has happened on dozens of visits. Many times, while I'm waiting, I use the store Wi-Fi to order the item from Amazon. Not only am I frustrated, but it also takes away from the time I had planned to spend in the store--so I buy less. In this time where customers are looking for value, Target seems to be concentrating on their own profits.
