I was on a 17 consecutive-day heritage travel trip to Scotland and did not bring clothes cleaning items. I looked at the offerings and did not find any travel size, so I went with some food items instead. They had both in-house prepared food offerings as well as packaged brands. The parking lot was large and I sat in my car eating my food. No one seemed to mind. I also withdrew money at an ATM on the front of the building, conversion was covered at withdrawal and I had no issues with the withdrawal processing. Pricing was good, workers were kind, and the store easy to navigate. The overall feel of the place reminded me of a grocery store we have in Washington State (United States of America) called Haggen. It was also a grey day on my visit, which added to the overall feeling of home as I come from a place with lots of cloudy weather as well.

Despite the fact that it is a supermarket, it still has a community feel to it due to being situated in a small town and people running into friends and neighbours there. It is handy if you are looking for budget items as there isn't really anywhere else in town which does things like that.

A medium-sized Tesco…read more We were staying in Thurso for two nights. One night we had dinner out, but the other night we wanted to cook some meal in our rental home. Tesco was - as mostly for us - the best choice around. It is only medium-sized, but opens until 10pm and had everything we needed. Especially the meat and veggie section is important to us and did not disappoint. We found some nice dry-aged scottish steaks. Also good Lamp Chops for just 4£, good quality too! Some cheddar and Cheese-Naan on the side (and some salad). There are also good deals on wine. For about 6-10£ you really can find some enjoyable wine (try some Australian or some from Chile). Also - as usual - free WiFi in the shop (and the parking lot). They didn't have Krispy Kreme Donuts though .... D'oh!

This used to be the main supermarket in Alness until Morrisons came about. They are still going…read morestrong though and seem to have regular customers in and out. They have a good selection of foods to buy, with freezer section tinned section dairy, and a deli counter, as well as fresh fruit and veg. There is a kiosk also where you can buy cigarettes and lotto from. It's not as busy as it used to be, and the prices are a bit expensive, I personally find that items are a little over priced, and i find it hard to find things that i am looking for. Its good for any daily essentials which are needed of for those individuals who do not want to walk as far as morrisons. Staff are friendly, although sometimes you will get the odd ignorant person who spoil it for the rest.
