Way back then this would have been a big, flagship operation. Trouble is, four decades on that self same ship has drifted out-of-town and more upmarket. Stressco are left with a long lease & we're left with a tired, understocked place supported by a colourful clientele of local flat & bedsit dwellers. Using my sat nav just to try find a grocery shop and I passed budgens and as I was trying to find a safe place to turn around I happen to find Tesco which to my delight had a big car park which was sign posted very well! So I got a great spot next to the entrance and at first grabbed a basket as I knew this was a small store but just going down one aisle I then decided I needed a trolley as there was more items you can get through this store! I ended up doing my whole weekend shopping which was great for me as I didn't have to venture anywhere else and the queues for the till was very short and staff were very friendly!

The shop's quite well laid out, and the shop assistants are friendly and helpful- and useful if you can't find something (like we couldn't when we visited!) Cons As it's a Local, it doesn't have the full range so you don't get all the value items- which I suppose is OK if you just need top-up shopping but it is quite annoying if you want savings.

So excited was I that a woman was laughing at me whilst going up in the lift. Pharmacy, hair salon, butchers, bakers, candlestick makers...ok that last one was made up but still. Even better was their entire aisle (yes, a WHOLE AISLE) for 'free from' food which forced me to accept the fact that I'm a gimmicky salespersons wet dream as I walked out with a box of Gorrilla Crunch cereal just because it had a gorrilla on the front....the fact that about half the money per box goes to the rainforest was something of an after thought. Easy parking outside the store: first hour is free. Great views of the Dover Castle. Store also provides a collection service for M&S online at their Customer Helpdesk.
