Wow what a busy place this is!!!! Normally I don't like such large and crowded facilities, but I decided to check out this Tesco giant with a friend who loves to shop. We spent close to three hours in this Tesco. Luckily I was slightly buzzed from just leaving the pub so I didn't mind. They had quite a number of goods on clearance, pretty much it's a wild card. The sale section is towards the back where the toys and workout supplements are located. A lot of school supplies on sale. I was impressed at their music selection and that I could buy a three disc Ministry of Sound dance CD for £6. They have quite a large school supply section. Pretty much this Tesco carries just about everything. The prices I noticed were £0.30-£1.00 higher then my normal Tesco Store so I was shy about grocery shopping. I guess the bigger the store, they figured lets raise the price too. That is one thing I really didn't like were the higher prices. The bathrooms on the other hand stink to high heaven. I could smell them by Costa. If I were you Tesco I would invest in air freshener. You sell it, why can't you use it? Pretty much I rate this three hour shopping experience a solid three. Just a tip if you get your car washed while you shop take your valuables and your lighters with you. My friend spent £15 on her car wash and they guys 'picked up' three of her lighters, she was not pleased. read more

I don't live in Bar Hill, but this MASSIVE Tesco is an ideal stop off on any east coast north/south journey. It's just off the busy A14, and is the biggest Tesco Extra I've seen - and they keep making it bigger! The latest addition is the second floor, which houses a (nearly) hmv sized entertainment section, a huge electricals dept, a large range of clothing, and a cafe. Then the downstairs is the biggest food store you've ever seen. A massive car park never seems to fill up, despite also being used by a small arcade of shops built into the side of the Tesco store. You could easily get lost in this store, it's that huge! This branch of Tesco is always busy and sometimes getting a car parking space can be a mission. But providing that you can find what you're looking for and don't get too lost/sidetracked along the way, it has a great selection of everything from food to homewares to clothes and CDs. You could literally spend hours in here (and lots of money because even those cheap bargains add up!). This tescos is MASSIVE. There is a huge upstairs area which houses all of the electrical, music and dvd and clothing sections. They have pretty much everything you can imagine. there is alarge sports and outdoors section, DIY with paint and various tools, toys.. name an item and you wioll find it somewhere in this shop. The photo lab at this tesco is one of the main ones so you can order online and the piccies will be available 1 hour later as opposed to quite a lot of the other local tesco which do not offer such a quick service. The food section is well laid out, and despite being so big is typical of a lot of tescos, it is easy to find products. If you are in the area it is a great place to losea few hours just wandering around looking!The car park is large, and there is a big petrol station with car wash. read more

Bar Hill Tesco's is the biggest 1 in Cambridge, there is plenty of parking outside as well as local shops outside, never had any problems, is big so can nosy around at everything and probably spend hours doing so, staff are friendly read more

This is my favourite Tesco store. It is a well established store which has been there for many years now. There was a redevelopment a few years back and several of the parade stores disappeared to make way for more Tesco footage. It is enormous . It is quite possible to spend a whole morning there as the food aisles are neverending and when you have finished your shopping you can have something to eat and start again in the nonfood aisles. I have had a few bargains from the clothes section on the top floor.Easy peasy parking.A smattering of other nearby shops and a couple of fast food joints.Alongside this store you have the added advantage of regular buses into Cambridge and a very good library. read more

One of Cambridge's biggest retailers we regularly use the store for all our shopping needs like most people we spend £2 out of probably £3 in the store or for that matter online. Makes the big shop far less of a struggle and your not wasting fuel getting there and back nor are you getting frustrated with there self service tills that invariably don't work properly. I must say though that now people's money is tighter these days there offers and deals seem to be getting fewer and fewer, but when you do go in the store you will find everything you went in there for I must say. read more

As a local Charity for visually impaired people, Cam Sight uses the Community Room for one of our Rural Group meetings once a month. The facilities are excellent and the staff could not be more helpful and accommodating. It is a superb facility that is very much appreciated by our clients. read more

Just got back from what will be my last ever visit to his store, its was a shambles with every checkout having a minimum of 5/6 customers waiting. One woman went to complain but returned to tell us that no senior manager would come down to the shop floor to explain. Until the new Morrison's opens in St Ives I will use Waitrose and pay that little more, this will save petrol and annoyance. read more

Every item you can imagine under one roof however staff are unhelpful and stand chatting about night's out and things like that which I believe is very rude. Very clean and has everything you need Except bread sauce at Christmas! read more

I think the reviews below must have been made up or written a while ago. They have lost a lot of staff and haven't bothered to employ more. 3 times I have been in the longest que ever. 4 trolleys deep. The last 2 times I asked a member of staff why. They said that upper management have decided not to employ anymore staff. So basically, we the paying customer, suffer and waste precious evening time stuck in a que. For a superstore, this isnt on. Also the produce shelves were very low in stock. No staff to fill them. So last night when the que was huge and I got the above response, I left my full trolley for them to put back and walked out. They have self service machines (replacing humans) but who wants to do that with a trolley full of stuff. I won't be going there again unless I hear they have employed more people. Greedy gits. Less staff, more profit, miserable customers. I spend thousands there every year. Not anymore. read more
