It's actually accessible from the departures hall as well, by walking around the end of check-in area A. This and Pret a Manger provide the two sources of better quality sandwiches to take with you on a flight, especially if travelling with a budget airline - I prefer their vegetarian/vegan choice to that in Boots, which is also close by. The only downside is that it can often get very busy, so you may have to wait a few minutes to get served. Fine most of the time, but not if you are running to catch a train or flight!

At the end of the day you can quite often pick up bargins of reduced food as this store closes at 11pm. A convienient store to pick up top up or forgotten groceries.

The food is mainly foreign brands, some better quality than others. The fresh fruit and veg section is one of the best often with special offers on. It seems to last longer than other store which is always a bonus. The car park, well what can I say, cramped, dark and gives me the creeps. There is a bus stop right outside which is useful if you don't have your own transport.

If you can't find what you are looking for they will physically guide to the item not just casually point you in the direction unlike other stores. Finally, it may be my snobbery but the staff in this Waitrose seem to be a cut above the staff you get elsewhere. Even the Saturday kids are articulate and well turned out, rather than being your average gruntards.

Also, English grocery stores aren't laid out the same. For example cookies might be in multiple locations rather than one designated "cookie aisle." Also it was interesting because you had to pay for a shopping cart. They did have a limited number of hand baskets. If they ran out of hand baskets, people would use the bags they brought and add there items into the bags. Then remove them when they got to the counter. It was nice because there weren't long lines, and they had a lot more self-serve kiosks than my local American grocery store.

When it was my turn I went to the till, only to be told I couldn't use it as I had a trolley and this till was for baskets. So basically there were tills available, but not for me to use. I approached the happy to help lady and pointed out how ridiculous this was. She was , as the tabard suggested, happy to help and told me just to use one of the tills which were free. What a palaver, just to buy 2 items, and how confusing that you can't use a till that's available, they'd rather have a queue and people waiting unneccarily.

I've heard "that shop down the road" on many many occasions. Anyway, this is our go-to shop at work. There are plenty of other convenience shops nearby, even a Sainsbury's, but this remains the staff favourite. They sell all kinds of stuff you never knew you needed. A coworker of mine enjoys a sandwich from their deli counter every day. I've stopped by several times for some delicious soup, an odd can of tuna here and there, and (when I'm feeling extravagant) some halva. If you don't know about Halva, get out now. It's delicious and probably an acquired taste but I LOVE it. I want to bathe in it. This shop definitely has an advantage over some of the smaller convenience stores dotted around the area in that it's independently owned, is much larger, and has a much better selection and value.

The selection of produce for this size of shop is impressive and boasts a butchers and cold meat counter. If you buy more than £5 worth of produce, which let's face it isn't hard in Waitrose, you will get 2 hours free parking in the underground carpark, perfect as parking in Greenwich can be a major pain. Head on down for your free coffee (with a My Waitrose Card) and free parking. Visit the sights in Greenwich and maybe even pick up some necklaces from Greenwich Market, you know, each to their own... The Sainsbury's opposite the station is overpriced and can get a bit boring at times as they are limited to what they stock. Take a walk down Lower Marsh and you will discover a large Iceland hidden away. Their prices remain the same regardless of their location. Save yourself a bundle and pop down there to grab your lunch stuff instead of Sainsbury's. No need for me to spend a fortune on household items when they are around the corner. On the plus side, because they are not by Waterloo Station's entrance, they are never as busy as you'd expect which makes shopping there extremely relaxing!
