The restaurant features freshly made dishes made with homegrown seasonal produce. While visiting our family in Liverpool, we came here as a group for afternoon tea. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law had been here before, so they knew it was great and brought us back, along with my husband's grandparents. Do take note, you have to book your table in advance. We sat in one of the backrooms which was very cozy and inviting, albeit a bit noisy from a rowdy group of "ladies who lunch," but it was fine once they left. We all really appreciated that savory items were included in the the afternoon tea. The menu features a selection of sandwiches, savouries, a cup of soup, a bucket of chips, a selection of cakes and a mini trifle. Plus your choice of a pot of tea or cup of filter coffee. I was happily surprised at the wide variety of teas! There was ample to eat. My husband and I ate our entire afternoon tea, but everyone else in our group had a few sweet treats left to take home. The food was very delicious. I loved the little quiche best along with the soup served in a cute tea cup and saucer! Plus, the little basket of chips was a nice touch! Scrumptious! Also, it's just 14 pounds for Afternoon Tea which I think it a great value for such a delicious savory tea. Afterwards, my family browsed the farm store and boutique which featured a lot of cute country style home goods and seasonal produce and artisanal food items. Do go upstairs to poke around at their merchandise. It's cute. I really enjoyed this afternoon tea and I'd love to return next time we're back to visit my husband's family!

We got homemade tomato soup with salad, cheese, and bread. The tomato soup was great but was a little odd with lots of bread in it. I didn't eat the bread bits but the soup was really good. The cheese was also really yummy and came with some British sour fruit spread stuff which I hadn't had before. When it came time for dessert, I had no clue what any of the items were on the menu as they were English desserts I'd never seen before... I finally decided on "Sticky Toffee Pudding" which turned out to be a very nice soft, warm gingerbread tasting cake with hot caramel syrup. My British friend with me got "Summer Pudding" which was soaked bread with berries. It was really good and overall a really great lunch.

The Coffee Club is still keeping up the quality that it always gives. Although now it's under new management . I will have to elaborate on that at a later date. The Coffee Club still retains that friendly at home atmosphere. Great coffee and teas . Although the Old coffee has gone the replacement is a strong refreshing brand. I like it very much so it's a treat for me. I must stop reading my gadgets when I sit down and drink a full mug enjoying every sip. I'm not a big eater when out , but I must try more of the food and give you reviews on that. Mind you I have only ever seen empty plates going back. I must admit it always looks delicious and very tempting as it passed by me, and very often I nearly buckle to buy some. The Management and Staff are still just as friendly and helpful as ever , and a smile goes a long way with customers. A pity a lot of businesses don't understand that principle. I noticed that there was a review about the buying of food items from another small business, so off I went to get Info on that for you all. Speaking to staff , some small items are purchased from other small shops as is in many establishments.. This is mainly due to the fact that small business's in the area are trying to support each-other through these difficult times . Having been an Executive Chef myself over 30 years I know this doesn't give as good a profit margin as it would using a Catering wholesaler. So I have admiration for these small places doing their best to keep each-other in business. So folks lets use and support those that do their best to serve us as long as they can.
